SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Race 7: 4. GOZO – Trainer representative O. Peoples advised Stewards that upon return to the stable, the gelding was found to be lame on its off-hind leg and would now be sent for a short spell. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a veterinary examination would be required prior to racing again.
GENERAL
Stewards accepted the following overweight:
Race 9: Jockey M. Harley +0.5kg (55.5kg)
Stewards acceded to the late scratching of LADY ALABAMA from Race 6 at 10:19am due to Trainer L. Clapham being unable to secure a replacement jockey. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the circumstances relating to Apprentice O. Kendal being dually engaged at multiple race meetings on one day.
Trainer R. Lipp was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of C. Baker as the rider of MISS DE MEDICI in Race 6.
After the running of Race 3, Apprentice T. Fenlon was re-examined by the Official Club Doctor and stood down from her remaining riding engagements. Apprentice T. Fenlon was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again and was replaced as per the race day summary.
After the running of Race 7, Jockey M. Harley was examined by the Official Club Doctor and stood down from his remaining riding engagements. Jockey M. Harley was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again and was replaced as per the race day summary.
RACE 1: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M
DOUBTWILLY – Approaching the 100m was carried in and raced in restricted room for the remainder of the event to the inside of MARTIST, which shifted in under riding. Jockey R. Maloney the rider of MARTIST was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Near the 50m was carried in, contacting EDDINGTON and as a result shifted back towards the heels of MARTIST and had to be steadied.
EDDINGTON – Became fractious in the mounting yard and dislodged Apprentice T. Fenlon. Apprentice T. Fenlon was examined by the Official Club Doctor and was cleared to fulfill her remaining riding engagements. Momentarily inconvenienced having its hindquarters contacted passing the 50m.
GIRMAY – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover at the rear of the field.
HIGH AUTHORITY- Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover at the rear of the field.
MARTIST – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MOTIVATING – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
RACE 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP - *** WEIGHTS RAISED 1.5KG*** 2200 M
ARCHER'S GAME – Apprentice R. Thorburn dropped his whip near the 100m.
ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Jockey D. Moor reported at scale that in his opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and the gelding to be lame on its off foreleg. Trainer K. Lees was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to ENTERPRISE PRIVATE racing again.
LENAPE VIBE – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 500m.
RACE 3: SUNSET SOIREE BOOK NOW CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350 M
BEREZKA – When asked to comment on performance, Jockey R. Maloney reported that he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated and when asked for an effort, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed respiratory noises. Trainer C. Maher was advised that a veterinary certificate inclusive of and endoscopic examination would be required prior to BEREZKA racing again.
CELESTIAL BLAZE – Raced wide.
FIREFORCE – Over-raced in the early stages. Leaving the 200m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of THE STARS after being carried in by DUOMO, which shifted in after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of HEROIC REBEL, which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey A. Mallyon the rider of HEROIC REBEL, pleaded guilty and was charged pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that passing the 200m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of DUOMO, resulting in DUOMO having to take hold and lose its rightful running. Jockey A. Mallyon’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days commencing midnight 1st March and concluding midnight 9th March 2026. Jockey A. Mallyon was advised of his right to appeal.
HEROIC REBEL – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide.
BIT OF GRUNT – Jockey J. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 100m.
THE STARS – Leaving the 200m, shifted out whilst racing in restricted room for a short distance. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D. Thornton could offer no explanation for the mares’ disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of the thumps.
DUOMO – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Leaving the 200m, shifted in after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of HEROIC REBEL. Jockey M Rodd reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Bellamy was advised that in relation to its racing manners, DUOMO would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.
DIVINE DIAMONDS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
EL CENTRO – Over-raced in the early stages.
RACE 4: RACECOURSE VILLAGE 0 - 68 HANDICAP 1600 M
HEADHUNTER – Raced wide for the majority before obtaining a position outside the lead near the 800m.
THE CATCH – Apprentice C. Sutherland reported at scale that in his opinion THE CATCH may appreciate tracks with more give in them.
BELIEVE SO – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
ITALIAN DANCER –Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported at scale that his mount was inclined to over-race early and proved difficult to settle. He further added that in his opinion, the gelding may benefit from the removal of blinkers next start.
AMBASSADORS – Obliged to alter course passing the 200m after improving onto heels.
LARIDAE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
REGGIE'S FOLLY – Slow to begin.
PELE PRINCESS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CANARA – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
TOKYO BANDIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey D. Moor reported at scale that it was his intention was to settle further forward, however after beginning awkwardly, was obliged to settle towards the rear of the field.
RACE 5: DRINKWISE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1350 M
FABULANTES – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Passing the 200m, had its hindquarters contacted.
CERTIFIED COPY – Bumped on jumping away. Laid out rounding the turn passing the 600m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
SHREDDED – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
QUICKZOU – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
I'LLTELLYOUTONIGHT – Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight whilst racing in restricted room. Passing the 200m, had to be steadied when tightened for room between SHREDDED and WOOTTEN HYDE when FABULANTES shifted in after having its hindquarters contacted.
WOOTTEN HYDE – Approaching the winning post had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of FABULANTES.
CAPITAL CHORD – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey A. Jones reported that her instructions were to settle further forward, however the filly raced greenly and in her opinion may be better suited to racing with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 6: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK FILLIES AND MARES NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1350 M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to MISS DE MEDICI having its tongue tie reapplied behind the barriers.
The start was further delayed, owing to GREYZOUS breaking through the front barrier partition before being pulled up after a short distance. Underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Subsequently became fractious in the barriers, causing the front partition to open on a second occasion. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that a warning would now be placed in GREYZOUS in relation to its barrier manners.
SCUD – Held up on entering home straight until approaching the 100m. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey R. Maloney reported that after being held up for the majority of the home straight, when placed under pressure the mare finished off the event fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
CARRAVILLA – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide.
GREYZOUS – Hampered on jumping away. When asked to comment on performance, Apprentice J. McMurray reported that after becoming fractious in the barriers at the start of the event, GREYZOUS proved hard to settle and in his opinion this may have had a detrimental effect on the mares’ finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CREATIVITY MISS – Jockey D. Moor reported at scale that his mount failed to muster early speed.
KICKATINALONG – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
SURREAL ASCOT – Leaving the 1000m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TIME OF MY LIFE, which shifted in whilst over-racing. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m, by CREATIVITY MISS, which improved to the inside.
NIGHTCAPPED – Obliged to steady after improving onto heels passing the 600m.
TIME OF MY LIFE – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m and was obliged to shift wider passing the 100m. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey A. Jones reported that TIME OF MY LIFE made respiratory noises passing the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
RACE 7: SKY RACING CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 M
ABENDER – Began awkwardly and was then hampered. Approaching the 800m, raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of AMUSEANTES resulting in ABENDER losing ground.
ASTAPOR – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
MORAVIA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
AMUSEANTES – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
SCRIPTED – Contacted the outside barrier partition on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 8: GIRLS DAY OUT 7 MARCH COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1350 M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins after it was identified by the Starter that several runners had inadvertently been loaded into the incorrect barriers. Runners were subsequently backed out from the barriers before being reloaded in their correct order.
MEAN APPROACH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Lost both hind plates.
CHIEF IN CHARGE – Lost its off-hind plate.
THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Bumped on jumping away.
LUPINE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was then restrained from the wide barrier. Over-raced in the early stages and approaching the 800m, improved onto the heels of BURLEIGH MAGIC and shifted wider on the track.
EXTREME SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey J. Bayliss reported at scale that his saddle shifted back leaving the barriers.
RACE 9: XXXX BM78 HANDICAP 1600 M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to FARNBOROUGH (IRE) becoming fractious in the barriers before being backed out. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
MAKE A CALL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ROCK HARD LOVE – Hampered on jumping away.
BENGAL DIAMOND – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Bayliss pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 11 times prior to the 100m, 17 times in total. Jockey J. Bayliss’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 28th February and to conclude midnight 10th March 2026. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines. Jockey J. Bayliss was advised of his right to appeal.
I'M HEROIC – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to take up a position outside the lead passing the 1000m.
PUNJABI LANDING – Slow to begin.
FARNBOROUGH (IRE) - Bumped with PIERATA'S GEM on jumping away.
PIERATA'S GEM – Bumped with FARNBOROUGH (IRE) on jumping away.
RACE 10: LADBROKES OWNERS PROMOTION CLASS 6 PLATE 1110 M
FLEETWOOD – Bumped on jumping away.
ABOUT TO EXPLODE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
PARTY SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its near-side nostril. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a veterinary certificate inclusive of an endoscopic examination would be required prior to racing again.
HEARTS ARE BETTER – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped FLEETWOOD. Over-raced in the middle stages.
