GENERAL
As rider D. Peisley was unable to make his allotted weight in Race 2, he was replaced as per the race day summary. Rider D. Peisley was subsequently fined $100 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. In assessing penalty, account was taken of D. Peisley’s record under this rule.
Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER MAIDEN PLATE 2070 M
BAD BOY BOONE – Raced ungenerously early and keen in the middle stages.
BIG TECH – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1800m, was checked after improving into a run between BAD BOY BOONE and PROMISES MADE, which shifted in before being corrected. Commenced a three-wide run from the 700m.
BLOOD RED – Shifted out on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
ARTISTIC TOUCH – In the early stages raced keenly and passing the 1400m laid out towards the heels of PROMISES MADE. Held up for a run from the 200m and went to the end of the race without being fully tested.
CLASSIC SHIRAZ – Near the 200m was checked when BIG TECH shifted in after being bumped by CRYPTO MAGIC (App J. McMurray), which commenced to shift in before being straightened. In the circumstances, Stewards acknowledged App McMurray had responded appropriately to correct his mount and consequently, no action was taken.
KOOLIBAH – Slow to begin, then tightened by ISLA DELILAH, which began awkwardly and shifted in.
SHARK PARK (NZ) – Change of tactics - further forward. Settled in a handy position. Held up for a run approaching and rounding the home turn and then had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 150m. Passing the 50m was held up on heels and went to the end of the race without being fully tested.
ISLA DELILAH – Began awkwardly.
PROMISES MADE - Change of tactics - further forward. After being wide early, settled outside the lead near the 1400m.
Race 2: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
THE AVIATOR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Shifted out abruptly on jumping and lost ground.
UNDER ARREST (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped TAPPY’S STAR. Over-raced early.
TAPPY'S STAR (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start.
BOMB PERIGNON – Change of tactics - further forward from the good gate. Began awkwardly and settled behind the leaders.
RECONCILIATE – On leaving the gates, tightened between VIOLACEOUS, which shifted in and TAPPY’S STAR, which was taken out by UNDER ARREST, which began awkwardly and shifted out. Rider A. Jones could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, adding that the filly may have come to the end of its preparation. Stable representative C. Cavanough advised it is now the intention to send RECONCILIATE for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
VIOLACEOUS – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RECONCILIATE.
Race 3: SKY RACING CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1660M
ECLAIR AWESOME – Fractious in the barriers. Bumped and blundered shortly after the start.
LARIDAE – For a short distance passing the 300m, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CARRAVILLA.
WILD GYPSY – Raced keen in the early and middle stages.
KERKORIAN – Began awkwardly, bumped ECLAIR AWESOME and lost ground.
Race 4: RACECOURSE VILLAGE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350 M
HELL TO PAY – Shifted out on jumping. Apprentice J. McMurray reported it was not the intention to settle back, however; as the front runners showed considerable speed, he elected to ride his mount more conservatively. Apprentice J. McMurray was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides before the 100m.
ZAHER (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start.
SUPERHERO – Carried out by HELL TO PAY, which shifted out on jumping and bumped ZAHER. A post-race veterinary examination identified a cardiac arrhythmia. The stable representative for co-trainers A. & R. Archibald was advised that this is the first occasion and SUPERHERO must not start in a further race, official trial or jump out until the Stewards have received a satisfactory report from a qualified veterinary surgeon, which includes the results of (a) an electrocardiography (ECG) of more than 60 seconds duration performed by that veterinarian whilst the horse is at rest and (b) a cardiac auscultation performed by that veterinarian within 15 minutes of the horse completing a satisfactory Official Trial of at least 1000m.
LUMENS LENNY – Turned its head to the side as the start was effected, began awkwardly and lost ground.
SNITZOND – Held up for a run from the 350m until approaching the 150m.
NINJITZOU – Shifted in on jumping and bumped NOTES.
NOTES (NZ) – Bumped at the start.
Race 5: SUNSET SOIREE 20 MARCH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
AMALFI BOY – Carried out near the 200m and bumped with OUR MATE LOCKY.
BOOMTOWN LADDIE – Change of tactics – to be ridden more conservatively. Rider M. Rodd reported after beginning well, he was unable to restrain his mount, which then raced keenly in the lead.
FLASHMASTER – Hampered at the start. Held up for a run rounding the home turn and until passing the 200m.
ILLEGAL JUSTICE – Shifted in on jumping and bumped TALACREST.
LUKE SKYWALKER – Change of tactics - further forward. Slow to begin. Settled in a handy position. Raced three-wide in the early and middle stages. Rider A. Jones reported the gelding failed to show the expected early speed, was obliged to race wide and failed to finish the race off. She added in her view, the gelding would be better ridden with cover.
OUR MATE LOCKY – Rider J. Bayliss reported after beginning well, the gelding settled in a more forward position than usual, which he felt was at the detriment of OUR MATE LOCKY finishing the race off. Bumped near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
DON'T DOUBT MISSY – When under pressure from the 250m, laid out and near the 200m, carried AMALFI BOY out onto OUR MATE LOCKY, with those two horses bumping.
GEITZ – Checked near the 250m.
TALACREST (GB) – Bumped at the start and hampered FLASHMASTER when ILLEGAL JUSTICE shifted out on jumping.
D. Moor(DON’T DOUBT MISSY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that after riding forward onto the heels of WESTERN LIGHTS near the 250m, he then shifted out from behind that runner when not clear of GEITZ, which was taken out towards the heels of AMALFI BOY and checked. D. Moor’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days, commencing midnight 21/03/2026 and concluding midnight 31/03/2026. When assessing penalty, account was taken of the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
Race 6: XXXX GOLD FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350 M
LUNAR EIGHT – Three-wide without cover for the majority.
MUSIC FEVER – Began awkwardly.
CORDINA – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
DIVINE SOURCE – Rider D. Thornton was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height.
MONAZEL – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS DIGITAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD & FOUR-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
ALPHA BRAVO – Brushed the rail near the 500m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ANDI DON'T CARE – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start.
MARUNOUCHI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider B. Thompson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal respiratory noise. The stable representative for T. Gollan was advised the filly would require a veterinary certificate inclusive of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
AVE CANTARE – Rider R. Stewart reported it was the intention to be forward, however; the filly was not the best to begin and when inside runners showed more speed, he elected to find cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
SWEET PRETENDER – Began awkwardly, bumped ANDI DON’T CARE and lost ground. Rider F. Larson reported the filly was reluctant to race inside other runners and near the 600m contacted the rail and became unbalanced when momentarily tightened by GRAMMAR LAD.
Race 8: LADBROKES BET TICKER BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2070 M
GUARDED OPTIMIST (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
CARACORON (NZ) – On leaving the gates was bumped by TENBURY WELLS and then shortly after, steadied when awkwardly placed between TENBURY WELLS and DELRICO.
TENBURY WELLS – Rider M. Harley could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
ARTFUL GIRL – Laid out when under pressure from the 200m.
BACCARAT ROUGE – Fractious entering the course proper. On the way to the gates, apprentice C. Bellamy lost the use of both irons and the horse galloped until it pulled up near the 700m. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination.
