Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 4: V. Duric +0.5kg (56.5kg)
Race 5: D. Stackhouse +0.5kg (54.5kg)

Race 9: B. Melham +0.5kg (55kg)
Trainer B. Baker was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of B. Thompson as the rider of OUR QUEEN in Race 6.
Following the running of Race 2, Jockey V. Duric was examined by the club doctor and was stood down for the remainder of the day. Jockey V. Duric was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again. Jockey V. Duric was replaced as per the Stewards summary.
RACE 1:SKY RACING BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1600 M
SPEYCASTER (GB) – Hampered shortly after the start. Leaving the 100m became awkwardly placed at the heels of KORUTO, which shifted out and away from CAVALRY MAN, which shifted out to improve.
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE - Raced wide until being allowed to stride forward to take up a leading position leaving the 1000m.
CAVALRY MAN – Laid out rounding the turn passing the 800m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Held up from the 300m and was disappointed for a run to the inside of SEVEN'S (IRE). Passing the 150m, was obliged to shift out and was only able to obtain clear running inside the final 100m.
BARAZIN (IRE) – Slow to begin.
LARRIKIN ROGUE – Contacted the rail leaving the mounting yard. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 300m after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of LA COMETA (NZ).
SEVEN'S (IRE) – Buffeted shortly after the start.
CHEVAL CHIC - Bumped shortly after the start. Leaving the 1100m commenced to over-race after being crossed by SEVEN’S (IRE).
ALL KINDS OF FOLK – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle further forward. Ridden accordingly, settled midfield.
CONTILDA'S LOVE – Slow into stride. When asked to comment on performance, Jockey T. Marshall reported that the tempo of the race may not have suited CONTILDA’S LOVE, and when asked for an effort the gelding proved disappointing.
RACE 2:LADBROKES STRADBROKE CALCUTTA BOOK NOW CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200 M
CASPERNOVA – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of NOW IS THE HOUR, which shifted in to obtain cover.
NOW IS THE HOUR – After obtaining cover leaving the 800m became awkwardly placed on the heels of MERCURIAL LADY, resulting in the gelding over-racing in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BOLD COMIC – Began awkwardly.
MERCURIAL LADY – Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey D. Moor reported at scale that he became concerned with the mare’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SURPRISE HONEY – Leaving the 600m, when attempting to shift out to improve, was disappointed for a run, resulting in the mare becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of PRE EMINENCE, blundering and becoming awkward in its stride for a short distance.
ENTERPRISE LUCIA – Began awkwardly.
ARABIAN ROSE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
BALANCE THE BOOKS – Awkwardly placed on heels shortly after the start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 150m was obliged to steady after improving onto the heels of NOW IS THE HOUR.
RACE 3:TICKETMASTER BILL CARTER STAKES 1350 M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins owing to WIN STAR harmlessly dislodging its rider enroute to the barriers, galloping for a short distance and breaking through a running rail, before being recaptured. Subsequently underwent a veterinary inspection and was declared a late scratching at 12:54pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on WIN STAR be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st I AM DIRTY 1c win, 4c place
2nd SHINTONO (NZ) 9c place
3rd KATOTO 2c place
Trainer A. Campton was advised that WIN STAR would require a veterinary certificate and an official trial in relation to its pre-race manners prior to racing again.
REMEMBRALL - Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that his mount raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight, which was detrimental to his riding out of the filly.
AURIC STAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
KATOTO - Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 1100m, after being bumped by I AM DIRTY, which was attempting to shift down closer to the rail.
SHINTONO (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
LA BARRITA - Blundered on jumping away and was bumped resulting in LA BARRITA momentarily becoming unbalanced. Over-raced in the middle stages whilst being restrained to obtain a position with cover. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed minor lacerations to its off-hind fetlock.
MISS BLACK BETTY (NZ) – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle further forward. Settled back of midfield.
RACE 4:SEVEN DARBY MCCARTHY OAM QTIS 3YO 1110 M
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R. King and Trainer M. Dunn to view the official footage of the home straight. After doing so, they elected not to lodge an objection, and correct weight was declared on the judges’ numbers.
EARN TO BURN – Buffeted shortly after the start. Approaching the 800m, shifted out after improving onto the heels of IMPERVIOUS when the pace of the race slackened.
SECRET SORT – Leaving the 800m, improved onto heels whilst over-racing.
NATURALLY LIT – Bumped on jumping away. Over-raced in the early stages and passing the 1000m had to be restrained off heels, shifted wider and raced fiercely for a considerable distance. Raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Dwyer was advised that following today’s disappointing performance NATURALLY LIT would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
CAMELIGHT – Began awkwardly.
FOREIGN PRESS - Obliged to alter course leaving the 300m and shifted in, to secure clear running.
LA BELLA BOOM – Began awkwardly and bumped IMPERVIOUS. Passing the 800m was inconvenienced and carried wider by NATURALLY LIT, which over-raced to its inside. Leaving the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of EARN TO BURN. Raced wide.
IMPERVIOUS - Buffeted shortly after the start.
SWORD OF LEGACY - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in in the early part of the home straight. Obliged to alter course and shift out after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of PYROLYSIS. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 100m and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
FINANCIALLY FAMOUS – Began awkwardly. Over-raced for a short distance leaving the 800m.
PYROLYSIS – Raced wide.
MISHANI MOET – Leaving the 800m was momentarily inconvenienced and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LA BELLA BOOM, which was carried out by NATURALLY LIT, which shifted out whilst over-racing. Over-raced in the middle stages.
RACE 5:XXXX CHIEF DE BEERS 1110 M
HIDDEN WEALTH - Raced wide. Jockey J. McDonald reported that after being caught wide, the gelding was obliged to do extra work, which in his opinion was detrimental to its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
GOLDEN BOOM – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 50m was obliged to steady when placed in restricted room between SCAMPI and BARBER, which attempted to improve into a closing run to its outside. Jockey J. Collett, the rider of BARBER was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.
PEREILLE – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide.
BARBER – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 200m and inside the final 100m, shifted in in an attempt to improve into a narrowing run, resulting in BARBER making contact with GOLDEN BOOM.
SOFT LOVE – Slow into stride.
ABOUT TO EXPLODE – Obliged to alter course passing the 150m and was obliged to shift out to secure clear running.
TECTONIC PLATE – Began awkwardly and bumped PEREILLE. Raced wide.
RACE 6:MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES AND MARES MILE 1600 M
PINITO - Laid in for a short distance leaving the 200m.
BLINDEDBYTHELIGHT - When asked to comment on BLINDEDBYTHELIGHT settling at the rear of the field, Jockey J. Melham stated that after beginning only fairly, she elected to restrain her mount and take up a position at the rear of the field rather than being trapped wide
PIPPIE BEACH – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
HYPERBOLIC (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped OUR GOLD HOPE and lost ground. Laid in under pressuring on entering the home straight.
OUR GOLD HOPE– Bumped on jumping away and as a result had its hindquarters turned inwards.
SWELTERING – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle midfield. Settled in a forward position with cover. Obliged to steady when racing in restricted room for a short distance when leaving the 1100m. Continued to over-race in the middle stages.
TOMATO TOASTIE – Bumped on jumping away. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Jockey T. Clark reported that with the step up in distance, he was mindful of allowing TOMATO TOASTIE to travel where comfortable in the early stages as the mare can be prone to over-racing. When asked if there was opportunity to shift wider into clear running near the 800m, Jockey T. Clark explained that he was mindful not to expose TOMATO TOASTIE too early, as the mare does her best work late. He further added that in his opinion TOMATO TOASTIE is better suited to rain affected tracks. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in its mouth.
Following the running of this race, Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 4 at 2:48pm.
RACE 7:ANZ BLOODSTOCK NEWS THE ROSES 2000 M
SINGLE RED (NZ) – Bumped with ZULEIKA shortly after the start.
SOVERATO (NZ) - Began awkwardly and bumped TARNTANYA.
PROBABILITY THEORY – Lost its off-hind plate.
FIREBALL MISS – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle midfield. Ridden accordingly. Held up on entering the home straight and shifted in to improve passing the 250m.
ZULEIKA - Bumped with SINGLE RED (NZ) shortly after the start. Laid out rounding the turn passing the 600m and upon straightening shifted out, carrying out GRAND OMAHA, which shifted out and away, hampering CHISPA (NZ). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PARVENU (NZ) – Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide.
CHISPA (NZ) – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle further forward. Ridden accordingly, settled midfield. Shortly after straightening, approaching the 300m after attempting to shift out into clear running, became awkwardly placed on the heels of GRAND OMAHA, which shifted out and away from ZULEIKA, which laid out on entering the home straight.
TARNTANYA - Began awkwardly and bumped SOVERATO (NZ). Raced wide.
SHORTCUT– Began awkwardly and lost ground.
OUR BRAVE LINI – Began awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of BELLA WAHINE, when the pace of the race slackened.
RACE 8:XXXX DOOMBEN CUP 2000 M
HALF YOURS – Leaving the 1200m shifted wider to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ASTERIX (NZ) – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle further forward. Ridden accordingly, settled on pace with cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Collett reported at scale that ASTERIX (NZ) hung in for the entirety of the home straight, proving difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer’s representative B. Killion was advised that ASTERIX (NZ) would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
BIRDMAN (IRE) – Shifted out on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 9:LADBROKES BRC SPRINT 1350 M
BOSUSTOW - Raced wide. Held up for clear running leaving the 250m.
CIFRADO – Raced wide. Jockey T. Sherry dropped his whip passing the 200m.
SWEYNESDAY (NZ) - Raced wide. Passing the 150m, raced in restricted room between ROCKRIBBED and ABOUNDING, which shifted out. Jockey T. Berry, the rider of ABOUNDING, was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
ROCKRIBBED – Raced wide.
ABOUNDING – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
OAK HILL (NZ) – Passing the 250m, was obliged to shift in after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of BOOMTOWN BOSS, which shifted out whilst awkwardly placed at heels.
HARRY'S YACHT - Raced wide.
METALART – Near the 250m, was obliged to alter course and shift in to obtain clear running.
BOOMTOWN BOSS - Over-raced in the middle stages. Held up on entering the home straight and leaving the 300m was disappointed when attempting to improve into a position between ROCKRIBBED and BOSUSTOW and was unable to be fully tested at any point in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
LORD OF BISCAY (IRE) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ZASZOU – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
CLOUDLAND (NZ) – Passing the 900m, commenced to over-race whilst being restrained.
