RACE 1:GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1110 M
ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR – Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m.
MACHTIG HAVANAGILA – Near the 450m, had to be steadied from the heels of DOMINATOR which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Jockey B. Thompson the rider of DOMINATOR was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.
DOMINATOR – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Thompson reported that he was obliged to make more use of the colt than anticipated to take up a forward position which resulted in DOMINATOR failing to quicken when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of the thumps.
EXTREME TASTE – Bumped on jumping away.
MINI BOO – Slow into stride.
LISTEN JANI – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 2: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW MAIDEN PLATE 2070 M
BENZINO – Laid out approaching the home turn. Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that the gelding had a tendency to lay out at various stages of the event.
OLE ALI – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Improved onto the heels of the tiring FIVE OF US near the 200m and had to be steadied.
SECRET FENKEL – Connections advised a change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels when the pace of the race slackened near the 900m.
BLUE POLES (GB) – Bumped with FIVE OF US on jumping away. Raced wide until the 1000m. Tired in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FIVE OF US – Bumped with DOMINATOR on jumping away. Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 900m when SECRET FENKEL shifted out after improving onto heels. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 3: MARK HOPSICK COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 110 M
BRAVEHEART – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure approaching the 150m.
POWDER MAN – Hampered on jumping away. Held up rounding the home turn before securing clear running near the 250m.
THANKYOU HENRY – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers after contacting the hedge on the outside of the course proper and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ARTFUL PERSUASION – Jockey R. Maloney could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
EXTREME DIAMOND – Held up rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room over the final 100m to the inside of BRAVEHEART.
EAGLE'S FIRE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
THROW IT BACK - Began awkwardly. Jockey T. Marshall reported at scale that THROW IT BACK was under pressure from the 800m however, finished the race off well and in his opinion would appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Following the running of this race, Stewards upgraded the track to a Soft 5 at 1:57pm.
RACE 4: DRINKWISE FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1110 M
OVERFULL – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PRUCIA. Raced wide until the 600m. Apprentice C. Baker reported at scale that in her opinion OVERFULL may not have appreciated todays soft track conditions.
NEPRAVDA – Blundered on jumping away. Over-raced in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice L. Martyn explained that after beginning awkwardly, she was obliged to make use of her mount early which had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts.
GALPIN – Slow to begin.
HURRICANE LU – Held up from the 300m before shifting in approaching the 200m to secure clear running and was then held up on the heels ofESPRIT DU JOUR and was unable to be fully tested to the finishing line. When questioned regarding his riding, in the home straight Jockey M. Rodd explained that with the quick tempo set in the early and middle stages, the mare was under pressure from the 600m. On straightening, HURRICANE LU quickened, and he elected to shift wider rather as he anticipated he would secure clear running to the outside of forward runners however he was unable to do so was then held up on the heels of OVERFULL. Jockey Rodd added that he then attempted to secure clear running to the inside of ESPRIT DU JOUR however was unable to do so after GALPIN had improved into this position and as a result, HURRICANE LU was then held up for the remainder of the event. Stewards after assessing Jockey Rodd’s comments and the footage of the race, took no further action other than to note his comments for future reference.
ODESSA – Shifted in on jumping away and bumped HAD IT ALL.
PRUCIA – Bumped on jumping away.
RACE 5: XXXX GOLD QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
CRASH THE PARTY - Inconvenienced near the 600m by URBAN PRINCESS which was carried in.
HAD IT ALL – Bumped on jumping away and was carried in.
URBAN PRINCESS – Bumped with YATTAZOU on jumping away. Leaving the 900m, was bumped by KING CHANCE, which shifted out whilst over-racing. Leaving the 600m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of YATTAZOU, which was taken inwards by STEADY ON. Apprentice J. McMurray the rider of STEADY ONin the presence of Racing Queensland Apprentice Jockey Mentor Mr. S. Scriven, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that approaching the 600m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of YATTAZOU, resulting in that runner being forced inwards across the rightful running of URBAN PRINCESS, which had to be checked by its rider. Apprentice J. McMurray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days commencing midnight 27 June 2026 and concluding midnight 8 July 2026, with Apprentice McMurray free to resume race riding on 9 July 2026. Apprentice J. McMurray was advised of his right of appeal.
YATTAZOU – Bumped with URBAN PRINCESS on jumping away. Near the 600m, was forced inwards by STEADY ON. Laid in and away from CRASH THE PARTY leaving the 200m and had to be corrected by its rider.
KING CHANCE – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Over-raced in the middle stages, shifted out leaving the 900m and bumped URBAN PRINCESS. Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m.
LONTARA – Inconvenienced near the 600m. Jockey C. Graham reported that LONTARA weakened from the 600m and she became concerned with the action of the filly and, as a result, elected not to place LONTARA under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with Trainer J. Mason regarding the recovery of the filly.
RACE 6: SKY RACING BM70 HANDICAP 1350 M
Prior to the running of this race, HERMIONE PRANCER became fractious in the mounting yard and reared over. Underwent a veterinary examination in the mounting yard and was cleared to proceed to the barriers. Underwent a secondary veterinary examination behind the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:27pm.Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on HERMIONE PRANCER be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st LADY LUCIFER 7c win, 5c place
2nd ALDOLFITO 10c place
3rd HOLY FLASH 9c place
MIDNIGHT DRIFTER – Raced wide.
ALDOLFITO - Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened.
HEMAN – Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened. Jockey Harley was reminded of his obligations to fully test his mount to the conclusion of the event.
MAN OF THE TOWN – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide.
BOLLINGER MISS – Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened. Held up approaching the home turn. Held up over the concluding stages.
RACE 7: MULLINS LAWYERS BM65 HANDICAP 1660 M
SMART ACTION – Improved onto heels near the 900m and raced wide from that point.
KUNDABUNG (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn.
CAPTAIN EAGLE – Shifted in shortly after the start and bumped JUPITER HILLS. Over-raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed respiratory noises. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate inclusive of endoscopic results would be required prior to racing again.
GO MARO - Shifted in on jumping away. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
EMPRESS OF JAPAN (NZ) – Bumped with JUPITER HILLS on a number of occasions from the 500m until the 450m when attempting to improve.
BLACK EYED BLONDE – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight resulting in its rider having to stop and straighten the mare on a number of occasions.
RUN TO YOU – Slow to begin.
JUPITER HILLS – Hampered shortly after the start. Commenced to race keenly near the 1400m and got its head up after being crossed by GOLDEN EYES (NZ). Jockey B. Thompson, the rider of GOLDEN EYES (NZ) was reminded of his obligations to allow inside runners sufficient racing room when shifting ground. Over-raced in the middle stages. Bumped on a number of occasions and carried wider from the 500m by EMPRESS OF JAPAN (NZ) which was attempting to shift out to improve.
RACE 8: LADBROKES FAST PAYOUTS CLASS 1 PLATE 1350 M
AUTOMNE TREE – Began awkwardly and bumped BETTER NOT SLIP. Near the 1000m commenced to over-race and was steadied from the heels of BETTER NOT SLIP. Over-raced in the middle stages. Improved onto heels near the 500m. Shifted out approaching the home turn and bumped KING COBAMA.
ATLANTIC COAST – Slow to begin.
BARCELO - Improved onto heels approaching the 100m and was unable to be fully tested for the remainder of the event. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that BARCELO was first up from a spell and peaked on it run near the 100m and in his opinion would derive benefit from today’s race and a step up in distance.
KING COBAMA – Bumped and forced wider rounding the home turn by AUTOMNE TREE which shifted out to improve.
BETTER NOT SLIP – Began awkwardly and bumped AUTOMNE TREE. Jockey C. Graham reported at scale that her mount raced greenly throughout.
SEQUEL – Over-raced in the middle stages.When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Harley reported that when placed under pressure, SEQUEL failed to respond to his riding. He further added that upon returning to the mounting yard, the filly was found to have gotten its tongue over the bit.
