SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GENERAL

Trainer L Gough was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration of K. Wilson-Taylor on VIMINELE in Race 4.
 
Trainer T Edmonds was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration of J Bayliss on FIRE BOMBER in Race 8.
 
RACE 1: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP  1350 M

HIGH AUTHORITY - Steadied over the concluding stages when racing to the inside of NATIVE SON, which shifted in under pressure.
 
APEX PREDATOR  - Began awkwardly.
 
BULL RAYNER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.      
 
NATIVE SON – Over-raced during the early stages when restrained to obtain cover. R Maloney, the rider of MEAN KING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that as the rider of MEAN KING he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NATIVE SON when leaving the 800m, which resulted in NATIVE SON being restrained to avoid the heels of MEAN KING. Jockey Maloneys license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 18/7/26 until midnight 26/7/26.
 
ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIA – Slow to begin.       

RACE 2: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW RATINGS BAND 0 - 70 HANDICAP     1600 M

NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) - Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide during the early stages.
 
SMART AS SMART - Raced wide during the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
DRACENA – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the performance A Allen stated that he was disappointed in the horses performance, however could offer no explanation. Trainer T Pascoe was asked to report back to stewards should anything come to light to explain the performance. A post-race vet examination revealed the mare to have a slow post-race recovery. 
 
READY TO IGNITE - Over-raced whilst leading during the early and middle stages.

RACE 3: XXXX BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP           2000 M

PRINCE LEVI – Held up for clear running from the 300m until near the 150m.

THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Raced wide during the early stages before being ridden forward to a position outside the lead near the 1100m.

CAVALRY MAN – Stewards questioned J Williams regarding the tactics in leading todays event, J Williams stated that he had been instructed to ride in a forward position with cover, however as he was caught wide during the early stages he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward to the lead. He also added that CAVALRY MAN laid out throughout the event and in his opinion was disappointing. Post-race vet examination revealed minor lacerations to both hind pasterns.

MARENARO – Slow to begin. Obliged to steady when passing the winning post on the first occasion when CHILLAXING shifted in. Shifted wider to improve from the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.

BLACKLIST (NZ) – Over-raced during the middle stages.

CAPTAIN MAVERICK (IRE) – Over-raced during the early stages. When the pace slackened near the 1000 again commenced to over-race before shifting wider to avoid heels and raced wide from that point onwards.

CHILLAXING (IRE) - Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FARWEST – Slow to begin.       

RACE 4: GRAHAM MILLIGAN BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP  1600 M

VIMINELE – Raced wide throughout. Trainer L Gough   
 
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – C Sutherland reported that his mount did not respond to his riding in the home straight and in his opinion was disappointing, however he could offer no explanation.

MAN OF THE TOWN – Slow to begin and tightened for room shortly after the start. Over-raced during the middle stages.

KORUTO – Over-raced during the middle stages. Leaving the 100m was obliged to alter course after improving onto the heels of the weakening MISSISSIPPI PRINCE.

DIANA'S AFFAIR – Shifted wider near the 600m forcing JEMOMA ALPILAGE wider. Had difficulty obtain clear running during the early stages of the home straight before shifting wider near the 200m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages and as a result was awkwardly placed at the heels of JEMOMA ALPILAGE, which also shifted out slightly. M Rodd reported that his mount was not suited to the stop start nature of the event, which may have had a detrimental effect on the performance.
 
JEMOMA ALPILAGE – Shifted wider near the 1000m to avoid heels and raced wide from that point onwards. Forced wider near the 600m when DIANA’S AFFAIR shifted out to improve.  
 
NATOYA (NZ) – B Thompson reported that his mount was under heavy riding on entering the home straight and could offer no explanation for the performance. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.

ADDITION (NZ) – R Dolan reported that his mount did not respond to his riding at any point during the event. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities other than having lost the off fore plate.    

RACE 5: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE CLASS 3 PLATE            1110 M

BRAVEHEART – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced ungenerously during the early and middle stages.

LARADO – Improved onto heels near the 400m and had to be steadied.

LOVEWILLCOMELATER - Over-raced during the middle stages.

A TOUCH FROM FAYT – Slow to begin.

HOT WINGS (NZ) – Pre-race vet examination revealed a minor abrasion to the near hind hip before being cleared to start.  Inconvenienced passing the 400m when taken wider by LOVEWILLCOMELATER, which shifted out to improve. Lost the near fore plate in running.        

RACE 6: MEKKA RACEDAY ON SALE NOW CLASS 6 PLATE           1110 M

CHINQUI – Near the 900m, steadied to avoid the heels of TIGER TIE, which shifted in when not clear. T Fenlon, the rider of TIGER TIE, was severely reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) as a result of this incident.

BOSSED UP – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.

GALPIN – Slow to begin.

ZOUBABY – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. 

RACE 7: SKY RACING NO METRO WINS HANDICAP            1350 M

LARRIKIN ROGUE – Slow to begin.

HELLOVA NATURE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

GOLDEN CROSS – Raced wide throughout.         
 
HEADHUNTER – Over-raced throughout the event, improved onto heels near the 800m and had to be checked. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and remained held up until leaving the 150m.
 
DO IT FOR YOU – D Moor reported that the gelding settled further back in the field than he had intended when DO IT FOR YOU was unable to muster early speed and hung out throughout the event. In his opinion DO IT FOR YOU would appreciated racing on a bigger track.

YEAH COPY - Raced wide throughout. Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 200m when tightened between PRINCE OF SORTS, which shifted out and HELLOVA NATURE, which shifted in.
 
ELEANOR NANCY - Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 8: CRICKS HIGHWAY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP  1350 M

NAVY PILOT – Shifted out near the 1000m and bumped with SMEXY on a number of occasions. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Had difficulty securing clear running on entering the home straight and shifted in near the 250m in order to secure clear running. Apprentice J Williams was found guilty of a breach of AR132(6)(b) in that he raised his whip hand above shoulder height on a number of occasions and was fined the sum of $500. In assessing penalty stewards took into account the poor record of apprentice Williams in relation to this rule.
 
CALL DA VINCI – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced when bumped on the hindquarters passing the 100m by AVE CANTARE which shifted out to improve.

SMEXY – Apprentice J McMurray was unable to fulfill this engagement as he could not claim his allowance and was replaced by F Sandkuhl. Apprentice McMurray was fined the sum of $200 under AR143(14)(a). Bumped on a number of occasions near the 1000m when NAVY PILOT shifted out. Improved onto heels near the 600m and had to be steadied. Laid in under pressure in the home straight causing it rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.
 
VOODOO LASS – Change of tactics, will be ridden mid-field if circumstances permit. Became awkward when restrained from the wide barrier and lost ground settling at the rear of the field.

MISHANI WITNESS – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 200m.

QUEEN JEDDAH – Tightened on jumping and lost ground.        
 
LOCKYER – Tightened on jumping and lost ground.       
 
AVE CANTARE – Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight.

ROUGH CAUSE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.      
 
 

RACE 9: LADBROKES POPULAR SRM OPEN HANDICAP            1200 M

HATCHET – Obliged to alter course and shift out near the 300m to avoid the heels of CASPERNOVA, which shifted out to obtain clear running. Unable to be fully ridden to the line when awkwardly placed at the heels of RESTONICA stages when that horse shifted in over the concluding stages.         
 
RESTONICA – Raced wide throughout.

GIVE GIGGLES (NZ) – Buffeted between runners on jumping.     
 
ATMOSPHERE – Over-raced during the middle stages.
 
TOWN CRIER – Apprentice F Sandkuhl reported that her mount travelled strongly throughout, however failed to respond when pressured from the 400m and prove disappointing in the run to the line. A post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.   
 
POCKET FULL – Raced wide throughout.

CASPERNOVA – Over-raced during the middle stages. Obliged to alter course to obtain clear running passing the 300m.

HERMANITA – Over-raced near the 900m when restrained to obtain cover and continued to over-race during the middle stages.
