GENERAL
 
Trainers C. & K. Geran were fined $200 pursuant to LR36(6) for failing to scratch dual acceptor MIRRA IMPACT by the prescribed time.
 
Stewards accepted the reasons put forward by trainer S. Kendrick when questioned regarding the late rider declaration of DOUBTWILLY.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 6: M. Rodd +0.5kg (56)
 
 
RACE 1: THE GIBSON QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP          1200 M
 
FEARLESS WIN - Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 300m, obliged to alter course and shift wider to obtain clear running.
 
HIGH PROPHET - Raced wide throughout.
 
JUNGLE RHYTHM  - Near the 700m had to be steadied when the pace of the race slackened.
 
SYRIAN DIAMOND - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 700m had to be steadied when the pace of the race slackened.
 
DOUBTWILLY - Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HIDDEN WHISPER - Leaving the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of TENGUN TOMMY. Again, obliged to steady near the 700m.
 
CASCADING - Began awkwardly.  
 

RACE 2: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
MIRRA IMPACT – Began awkwardly. Near the 250m was obliged to alter course and shift out to obtain clear running.
 
DETRIMENTAL - Over raced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When asked to comment on the performance Apprentice J. Franklin reported the gelding over raced throughout, which may have proved detrimental to its finishing efforts.  
 
PUFF 'N' HARRY - Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight. Leaving the 200m when attempting to shift out to improve was hampered by TORNADO EXPRESS which shifted in before being corrected.
 
TORNADO EXPRESS - Began awkwardly. Laid in rounding the home turn. Passing the 200m shifted in contacting PUFF ‘N’ HURRY whilst that runner was commencing to shift out to improve, as a result TORNADO EXPRESS had its hindquarters contacted and was momentarily inconvenienced.
 
CONTILDA'S LOVE - Rider T. Marshall reported the gelding would be suited to a step up in distance.
 
CAN'T GETWHATIWANT  - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer K. Kemp was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).

IN SOCIETY - Made contact with the inside barrier partition on jumping resulting in the mare beginning awkwardly and losing ground.
 

RACE 3: LADBROKES BIG BETS COPY NOW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS & GELDINGS HANDICAP  1200 M
 
SECRET SORT - Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOSHULU SPIRIT  - Leaving the 100m was carried wider by RHETORIC which shifted out under riding.
 
POINT VEGA - Laid in under pressure in the home straight
 
TOO HOT TO TORQUE - Raced wide throughout.
 
FIRE BOMBER - Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve. Passing the 150m was momentarily inconvenienced when bumped by OVERSPRAY which laid in under pressure.  Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
DESTINYS SUMMIT - Began awkwardly. Over raced in the middle stages. Passing the 700m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TOO HOT TO TORQUE (App J. McMurray) which shifted in to obtain cover. Apprentice J. McMurray was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
VENOM RUSH - Approaching the 400m was momentarily inconvenienced by DESTINYS SUMMIT which was looking to shift out to improve.
 
THE TORQUE XPRESS - Began awkwardly.
 
OVER SPRAY - Passing the 150m laid in. Rider R. Dolan plead guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out fully to the finish. Rider R. Dolan was fined $300. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. 
 
RHETORIC   - Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight and had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 200m. Shifted out over the concluding stages.
 

RACE 4: BRC COMMUNITY VENUES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   2020 M
 
CONNECTICUT - Began awkwardly.
 
FARNBOROUGH (IRE) - Raced three wide without cover throughout. Passing the 150m restrained from the heels of STRANGLEHOLD (App. B. Osmond) which shifted out under riding.
 
BLACKLIST (NZ) - Bumped at the start by GREY NORTHERN.
 
GREY NORTHERN (NZ) - Began awkwardly and bumped BLACKLIST. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from one nostril, on the first occasion. Trainers C. & K. Geran were advised the mare would be required to undergo a gallop of at least 1,000 metres; or participate in an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a steward, prior to racing again.
 
ARTFUL GIRL – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with RUGBY.

TECHNA - Rider R. Dolan could offer no explanation for the poor performance. Co- Trainer C. Munce reported it was the intention of the stable to drop back in distance and intended on reporting back to stewards in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
KIRORO PEAK (NZ)- Restrained at the start to obtain a position closer to the running rail. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RUGBY - Bumped at the start with ARTFUL GIRL. Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
ALFA DUNDEE - Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
Apprentice B. Osmond (STRANGLEHOLD) plead guilty to a charge purusant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 150m he allowed his mount to shift out under riding over a number strides crowding FARNBOUROUGH, resulting in FARBOROUGH having to be steadied and losing its rightful running. Apprentice B. Osmonds license to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days, to commence midnight July 26th 2026 and conclude midnight August 7th 2026. In assessing penalty stewards took into account the QRIC penalty guidelines, record and guilty plea.  
 

RACE 5: MEKKA RACEDAY ON SALE NOW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES HANDICAP 1200 M
 
DRAGONNE ROUGE – Bumped at the start with LA BELLA BOOM resulting in rider M. Rodd becoming unbalanced. Leaving the 200m was obliged to shift out in an attempt to obtain clear running. Leaving the 150m raced in restricted room and was unable to be fully tested to the line. Rider M. Rodd reported his mount didn’t travel throughout todays event and was disappointing when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. 
 
DON'TDOUBTHELADY - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped EKHIDNA. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
LA BELLA BOOM   - Bumped with DRAGONNE ROUGE at the start. Leaving the 900m had to be steadied when improving onto the heels of DRAGONNE ROUGE.
 
SPIRIT OF BARTY  - Approaching the 800m had to be steadied after shifting in and becoming awkward on the heels of SEQUEL.
 
GRINZINGER CHAMP - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained a superficial wound to the left hind hock.  
 
EKHIDNA - Bumped at the start.

TASSORTIUM - Slow to begin. Commenced to over race near the 900m, improved onto the heels of GRINZINGER CHAMP and had to be checked.
 
CARBONARA – Began awkwardly.
 
LOVECATS  - Began awkwardly. Passing the 800m was inconvenienced and carried wider by TASSORTIUM which shifted out at the point of the turn.
 
READY FOR AIMEE – Apprentice L. Martyn reported her mount travelled well however wasn’t suited to todays fast tempo. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STEIN - Began awkwardly. Passing the 300m was obliged to alter course to improve.


RACE 6: DRINKWISE CLASS 6 PLATE 1350 M
 
JOHN RAMBO – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 300m was obliged to alter course and shift in to obtain clear running.
 
JUST FLYING – Began awkwardly.
 
BLUEPINOT - Connections advised change of tactics; settle further forward, ridden accordingly.

DIRTY DANCING – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Co-trainer G. Heinrich reported the mare benefited from the drop back in grade and had pleased the stable in its work leading into todays event. Was noted to have lost its near hind shoe.
 
WINSTON HILLS    - Began awkwardly. Passing the 250m was disappointed for a run.


RACE 7: XXXX ONE METRO WIN HANDICAP 1200 M

SHE'S EXOTIC - Leaving the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto heels.

MAXIMUM VORTEX – Leaving the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

BREAK FREE - Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SURPRISE HONEY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 

RACE 8: SKY RACING OPEN HANDICAP       1615 M
 
THE INFLICTOR – Apprentice C. Sutherland reported in his opinion that the gelding had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer C. Cousins was asked to report back on the future racing plans in the days subsequent.
 
RISING PACIFIC (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ESJAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WARBY – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 

RACE 9: LADBROKES RACING EXTRAS IN MULTI CLASS 6 HANDICAP   1615 M
 
PASIMA – Slow to begin.  

CUNNAMULLA FELLA – Began awkwardly and bumped DEEP RESPECT.
 
DEEP RESPECT - Bumped at the start.
 
WHISKY DREAM  - Hampered on jumping between SOCIAL OUTCAST which shifted out and POCKETMONEY which shifted in.
