Race 1 – GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1660 M
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Trainer B Healey requested to review the start to ensure that his runner KINDRED was afforded a fair start. On review it was noted that the attendent was in the barrier at the request of its rider C.Graham due to it being fractious and inclined to lower its head. Stewards when reviewing the matter note that whilst KINDRED was slow to begin, Stewards were satistified that it was facing the gates as the start was affected, and its primary cause for missing the start was due to its own barrier manners. Stewards declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.
DUAL MASTERY Over raced in the early and middle stages.
SWIFT SOVEREIGN (NZ) Laid in near the 100m.
BACETTI Begin awkwardly.
KINDREDSlow to begin and lost ground.
Race 2 – BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1660 M
ENUFF TORQUE Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay out approaching the 150m.
GREAT TIMES AHEAD Connections advised a change of tactics – to be ridden further forward. After beginning well and then crossed early was obliged to settle further back in the field. Laid in the home straight when under pressure.
HELLS REIN Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to brushing a section of the fence with its off hind when leaving stabling enclosure and was cleared to start.
PIER ANGEL Began awkwardly. Held up approaching the home turn.
SPIRIT OF TORQUE Raced wide.
Race 3 – LADBROKES TOTE WIN +10% IN OCTOBER MAIDEN PLATE (SET WEIGHTS) 1200 M
THE AVIATOR When weakening approaching the 100m resented racing in restricted room between LAWES ROAD which shifted out and SPIRIT FALLS which shifted in and lost ground. Underwent a post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
ARISTOCRATIC GIRL Held up in the early part of the home straight. Leaving the 200m raced in restricted room, bumped and inconvenienced when SPIRIT FALLS shifted out when racing greenly and BOOTS which shifted in slightly.
DUCHESS DIFFICULT Connections advised a change of tactics – to be ridden further forward. Ridden accordingly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Held up on the home turn until approaching the 200m.
KIAVELA Raced wide. Laid in early part of the home straight.
LAWES ROAD Held up home turn, attempted to ease wider leaving the 250m before shifting back in and becoming awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 200m. Raced greenly when placed under pressure.
RECONCILIATE Raced wide.
NOTES OF AUTUMN (NZ) Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
BOOTS Near the 150m bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.Rider J.Bayliss was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for the use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
Race 4 - SPRING RACING CARNIVAL BOOK NOW MAIDEN PLATE (SET WEIGHTS) 1200 M
ASTERN EFFORT Slow to begin.
MISS CHAMONIX (NZ) Slow to begin.
BUDDA BAR Near the 150m was severely checked and lost ground between STELLAGRACIA and ASTERN EFFORT which shifted in abruptly. At a subsequent inqury it was established that near the 150m apprentice J.McMurray lost the use of his near side rein causing the gelding to shift in abruptly.Stewards noted that whilst ASTERN EFFORT was inclined to lay in leading up to this incident, when apprentice McMurray attempted to gather up his reins to arrest the inward shift of ASTERN EFFORT he lost the use of his nearside rein for a number of strides causing the interference to BUDDA BAR.Stewards were satisfied that apprentice J.McMurray had demonstrated care in his attempts to prevent the gelding from shifting in prior to this incident and noted the circumstances.
NIGHT GLORY Rider R.Dolan reported at scale that his mount was inclined to lay out.
ESNAAD After being caught wide attempted to shift in near the 1000m and was steadied from heels and obliged to race wide for the remainder.
FINAL EDIT Began awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 5 - XXXX GOLD COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BM68 HANDICAP 1350 M
LION CLASS Raced keenly for the majority.
EARTHING Raced wide.
Race 6 - DRINKWISE FILLIES AND MARES BM68 HANDICAP 1350 M
LEBANESE Raced wide.
READY FOR AIMEE Held up rounding the home turn.
IDYLLIC AFFAIR Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming from a long break and was cleared to start.When asked to comment on the performance, rider M.Rodd said he was satisfied with the mares effort and noted that coming off the long spell it should derive benefit from the run.
DON'T DOUBT MISSY Slow to begin. Held up in the early part of the home straight until approaching the 200m.
SNUGG Slow to begin.Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
MAQUISA Over raced in the middle stages.
Race 7 - SKY RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1660 M
BINGI Over raced in the middle stages.
CANTARITO Laid out over the final 100m.
INDIGO STAR Rider A.Mallyon reported at scale that the gelding did not travel throughout the event and weakened from the home turn. Returned with blood in its mouth. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps. Trainer C.Waller was advised that the gelding must complete an official trial to satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
WOUNDER (NZ) Slow to begin.
MADAME CODY As rider D.Moor was stood down due to illness, he was replaced as per the Stewards Raceday Summary. When no other senior rider could ride at that weight, Stewards approved apprentice B.Youngberry for the engagement. D.Moor was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to returning. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
CAPTAIN EAGLE Approaching the 900m commenced to over race when placed on the heels of BINGI.
PECCAVI Held up between the 400m and 200m before obtaining clear running.
Race 8 - MORE FROM TOTE WITH LADBROKES 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1110 M
BOSS MODE Raced wide for the majority.
NO FOOLING Fractious in barriers and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Stable representative for Trainer T.Gollan was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider E.Pozman reported that gelding travelled well to the home turn but did not let down as expected in the home straight and was disappointing.
ISSY'S STAR (NZ) Slow to begin.Performed poorly and underwent a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers representative for Trainer K.Lees advised he would report back should something arise regarding todays performance.
