SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST – FRIDAY 26 JUNE 2020

RACE 9: VALE BEN MOORE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into an incident near the 300m. After evidence was taken from apprentice J. Huxtable and his master Mr C. Munce, apprentice J. Huxtable (SMOOTH MOVE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 300m, whilst riding his mount along, he permitted it to shift out when insufficiently clear of FA FA (S. Thornton), resulting in that gelding being checked. As a result of this interference, WOMAN OF GOLD (M. Kennedy), which was improving from the rear of the field, was severely checked. Apprentice J. Huxtable’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days from midnight Sunday 19 July to Sunday 26 July 2020. In determining penalty, stewards deemed the interference to be in the low range and took into account apprentice Huxtable’s good record and guilty plea.

IPSWICH TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 10 JULY 2020

Race 7: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1350M

SUPER BAZOOKA – Trainer advised the gelding pulled up with swelling in the off hind fetlock, pressure over the back. Will be treated by chiropractor. Clinical bloods taken from the gelding were satisfactory.

Race 2: WHITTINGTON @ GRANDVIEW STUD QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1700M

BRING ME SHOWERS – Trainer advised the mare pulled up satisfactorily and would be given a short freshen up before continuing with its preparation.

Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1200M

BOOM SPENDER – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with STATESVILLE. Struck on the head by the whip of J. Murphy (HANCORA FIELD) after passing the 100m.

STATESVILLE – Bumped heavily on jumping away and became unbalanced.

PETUNIA – Obliged to alter course to the outside of THINK GLORY near the 300m in order to improve.

HERTZKA – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

THINK GLORY – Bumped heavily on jumping away and became unbalanced. Steadied to avoid the heels of BOOM SPENDER whilst overracing near the 900m. T. Marshall, the rider of BOOM SPENDER, was advised to show greater care when shifting towards the rail in similar circumstances. Steadied whilst weakening in the home straight when tightened for room near the 200m by STATESVILLE. M. Hellyer, the rider of STATESVILLE, was advised to provide his fellow riders with more room when shifting ground in the future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had minor abrasions to the off hind leg and had lost the off hind plate.

Hung out under pressure in the home straight and when hanging out in the early part of the home straight rider L. Tilley was unable to ride with his normal vigour. Jockey Tilley indicated that the horse was somewhat field-shy and may benefit from having the blinkers removed. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

DARING MAN – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight had to alter course to the outside of SCOTTISH PRINCE in order to improve. When asked to explain the reason for his mount being further back in the field than anticipated, M.
