RACE 7: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M

Stewards considered an objection from D.Smith rider of HIGHLAND SUN which finished 3rd, alleging interference against MIDLAND being declared 2nd place getter, alleging interference in the final 250m of the race. After considering the evidence from all parties, it was established that approaching the 200m MIDLAND shifted in under riding when not fully clear of HIGHLAND SUN which resulted in that horse having to alter course to the outside of MIDLAND, soon afterwards MIDLAND shifted out resulting in HIGHLAND SUN being taken wider. Stewards were of the opinion that the interference sustained to HIGHLAND SUN was greated than the half head margin between the runners at the finish and upheld the protest.
