Race 8: SKY RACING TATTERSALL'S TIARA G1 – 1400M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, a protest was lodged by L Cassidy, rider of the third placegetter NUDGE alledging interference over the final 100m stages against the second placegetter SWEET DEAL (J Orman). After taking evidence from both riders, stable representatives and viewing the available patrol footage, Stewards established that whilst being ridden to the line, SWEET DEAL shifted in abruptly over the final 100m despite the efforts of its rider, causing NUDGE to alter its course and having to be momentarily inconvenienced. Bearing in mind the half neck margin and the manner in which both horses finished off the race, Stewards were of the opinion that had the interference not occurred to NUDGE, it would’ve finished in front of SWEET DEAL and upheld the protest.
