Prior to the declaration of correct weight, a protest was lodged by L Cassidy the rider of HALLOWED GIRL alleging interference from the 300m onwards against the winner COSMIC GOSSIP (K Wilson-Taylor). After considering the evidence of the riders and viewing the race footage, stewards established that after passing the 300m COSMIC GOSSIP commenced to shift out under pressure and forced HALLOWED GIRL wider on the track and also caused jockey L Cassidy to be unable to test HALLOWED GIRL with the whip over the concluding stages.
