GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meetings-
 
Race 4- TIGER TENY- B Thornton +1kg.
 
As J Murphy was indisposed due to personal reasons, he was replaced as the rider of OCEANARIUM by App. A Thompson as there was no suitable senior rider available.
 
As Jockey B Stewart was indisposed stewards permitted replacements as per the stewards race day summary.
 
Race 1: XXXX DRY Maiden Handicap 2156 metres
 
ENJOUEE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to the near hind leg.
 
WORD FROM ABOVE – Hampered on jumping away.
 
BAY STREET – Rider N Callow was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
HIDDEN SMILE – Hampered on jumping away.
 
A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
 
OCEANARIUM – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced three wide from the 1000m.
 
 
Race 2: TAB STRADBROKE CALCUTTA BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2218 metres
 
TRADUCE – Approaching the 100m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of STREET DANCER, which laid out under pressure. Jockey R Maloney, rider of STREET DANCER was advised to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
 
STREET DANCER – Slow to begin. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
SAVVY OAK - Carried wider on the track over the concluding stages by STREET DANCER, which laid out under pressure.
 
JUSTITIA  – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
 
Race 3: STRADBROKE BALL Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
RED HOT RUBIX  – Passing the 500m became awkwardly placed on heels when attempting to shift out into clear running. Became awkwardly placed on heels passing the 300m when attempting to shift out. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
STARTER – Trainer advised of a potential change of tactics to settle further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly carrying AMATHUBA out onto DELYTH. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
AMATHUBA  – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
DELYTH - Trainer C Munce was fined $200 for the late rider notification of B Thornton as the rider for the mare. Hampered on jumping away.
 
SAVAROSA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the mounting enclosure and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
D'ESPRIT – Passing the 100m was disappointed for a run between DELYTH and AMATHUBA, which shifted in.
 
SWEET ALYSSUM  – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of this event Jockey Ben Thompson was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and passed fit to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
Race 4: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
AGRO AGAIN – Raced greenly under pressure in the straight and passing the 300m shifted out contacting CHAMPAGNE POP.
 
BADGERS NUTS – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly contacting KAYTEE REINADO. Overraced in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey S Collett advised that her mount failed to settle in the early stages of the event and may not have appreciated the firm track surface. She added that in her opinion BADGERS NUTS (NZ) would be better suited racing on surfaces with greater give but would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
INTENSE SURPRISE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
NASSAU COUNTY – Began awkwardly and was contacted shortly after jumping. Raced ungenerously when being restrained in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance Jockey T Marshall reported that in his opinion racing wide throughout the event was the major contributing factor to the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination,  failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SAINT MARTIN Steph – Passing the 200m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of SOUNDS DEVINE which shifted in under pressure. Jockey R Fradd, rider of SOUNDS DEVINE, was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts.
 
CHAMPAGNE POP – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m.
 
SOUNDS DIVINE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly contacting KAYTEE REINADO.  Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
KAYTEE REINADO – Hampered on jumping away.
 
TIGER FOR LIFE – Slow to begin. Passing the 1100m was eased when racing in restricted room.
 
Race 5: BRC CARNIVAL PLUS MEMBERSHIP Class 1 Plate 1600 metres
 
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
HELLO HANDSOME – Passing the 1300m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Apprentice J Lloyd was fined $500 under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish of the event. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful of App. Lloyd’s prior poor record in relation to this rule.
 
SHOPPING WISE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
RISING FIRE – Hampered shortly after jumping away. Raced wide with cover throughout the event.
 
SATIRICAL GLORY – Hampered shortly after jumping.
 
BIG ANGEL – Passing the 1400m commenced to over race when being restrained off heels. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
OAKFIELD TEPEE – Late scratching on veterinary advise at 1.16pm. Trainer K Buchanan was advised that OAKFIELD TEPEE would require a veterinary certificate of clearance prior to next start.
 
SCISSORHANDS - Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
OKALANI  – Raced wide with cover throughout the event.
 
NOBLE ARTIST – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the straight.
 
NITROGYCERINE – Passing the 1300m had to be restrained off the heels of SATIRICAL GLORY which shifted in to attempt to obtain cover. Shortly after was carried wider on the track by HELLO HANDSOME (NZ), which shifted out while overracing, resulting in NITROGLYCERINE racing wide without cover.
 
Race 6: MULLINS LAWYERS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap1845 metres
 
COGNAC – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and when entering the home straight raced in restricted room for a number of strides. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
ELIZANO- Restrained shortly after jumping to obtain a position closer to the rail. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
ROLLER COASTER – Passing the 1700m was contacted and carried wider. Raced wide throughout the event. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey L Dittman stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the race and felt awkward in its action in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with stable regarding the post race recovery of the horse in the days subsequent.
 
BOMBAY NIGHTS  – Slow to begin. Laid out throughout the event.
 
SAVAGAL  – Carried wider on the track passing the 200m by COGNAC (NZ), which laid out under pressure. When questioned regarding SAVAGAL racing further forward in today’s event, Jockey J Orman stated that after being caught wide in the early stages, allowed his mount to improve to take up a position outside the lead. He added that his mount travelled well throughout the event but when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ULTIMATE PRIDE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
 
Race 7: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1400 metres
 
AMERICANA MAGIC – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
RATHLIN – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
LE HEROS – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m. App. K Wilson-Taylor was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the conclusion of the event.
 
THE CULLINAN – Passing the 500m improved onto heels and shifted wide carrying ASWAAT wider.
 
SAMMY  – Passing the 1200m commenced to overace after being carried wider by THE DARK (NZ).
 
ASWAAT  – Passing the 500m was carried wider on the track by THE CULLINAN.
 
THE DARK  – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
SOUBRETTE  – Jockey L Cassidy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) for using his whip on sixteen occasions.
 
VALLEY OF DREAMS – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
 
BLACKLOG – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
 
CENTENARY STAR  – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 8: STRADBROKE SEASON HIGH TEA BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1000 metres
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Slow to begin.
 
DALTORO – Passing the 800m became awkwardly placed on the heels of STELLAR POWER.
 
STELLAR POWER – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 800m became awkwardly placed on the heels of THE BIG GOODBYE which shifted out while overracing.
 
INGEAR – Raced wide throughout the event. Checked shortly after the start when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
THE BIG GOODBYE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
PLATINUM EUROS – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of DALTORO which shifted in while being restrained off heels.
