SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From race 9 Doomben 9/7/2022 – TYCOON EVIE (App. A. Thompson). Stewards, after hearing submissions from app A. Thompson, and his master Mr Hulbert, elected to withdraw the improper riding charge, however, issued a charge under AR131(a) in that he rode in a careless manner for allowing TYCOON EVIE to shift out near the 600m and make heavy contact with WILLO TITTO which then shifted out onto TAMAHERE.
 
GENERAL
Stewards approved the following rider overweights:
Race 1. J. Orman +0.5kg
Race 8. J. Orman +0.5kg
 
 
Race 1: BRC FAMILY RACEDAY 30 JULY No Metro Wins Handicap 1805 metres
 
WITHOUT THINKING – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

CLASS OF ROYALTY – Passing the 200m, tightened for room by EVITA LA VIE when that runner shifted in under pressure.
 
THE LOVE ROCKET – Rider B. Thompson reported that his mount was inclined to lay in and proved difficult to ride. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer J. Edwards was advised that THE LOVE ROCKET will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
ZA CEIBAS – Inclined to lay out during the middle stages.
 
AIOLOS – Bumped by CLASS OF ROYALTY near the 200m.
 
LETHAL WARNING – Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight until near the 200m. Shifted out abruptly approaching and passing the winning post.
 
Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1805 metres
 
RAYJEN – Between the 300m and 150m inclined to lay in and brush with PORTNOY.
 
MASTER MARKO (NZ) – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
SO YOU KNEW – On returning to scale, Jockey B. Thompson explained that his mount wasn’t suited when the race developed into a sprint home.
 
CHAMPAGNE POP – Performed below market expectations and underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor commented that the horse raced flat and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainers representative, M. Sharpe advised that the filly will now be sent for a spell.
 
RONLEE GAL – Overraced in the early stages and shifted in and made contact on a couple of occasions with SO YOU KNEW. Continued to over race in the middle stages.
 
MAGIC MIKEY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1000 metres
 
KALIK – Approaching the 600m, steadied from the heels of LEPREEZY.
 
KOSCIUSKO – Slow to begin. Held up in the home straight until the final stages and went to the line not being fully tested by its rider.
 
STAR CHERIE – Raced wide with no cover throughout
 
ZUMIKON – Raced wide throughout.
 
MOONAN JOYCE – Raced wide throughout. Eased down over the final stages by its rider. Jockey L. Cassidy commented that the gelding felt awkward in its action and for that reason he elected to ease the horse out of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of tying-up.
 
 
Race 4: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 2200 metres
 
DR VELOCIOUS – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
ROYAL PERFORMANCE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
CONTRITION – Raced wide over the final 1000m.
 
CANISTER – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed some muscle soreness in the left fore. Trainer R. Peterson reported that the gelding will now be sent for a spell.
 
SCILAGO – Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn.
 
TAAFFEITE - Near the 400m, shifted out hampering NEPTUNE’S CHOICE, which was tightened for room between TAAFFEITE and ENDORPHINS. Jockey B. Thompson was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) over the incident and advised to take more care in future when shifting ground.
 
 
Race 5: EUREKA STUD QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
MISHANI WARFARE – Connections advised of a change of tactics whereby the gelding is to be ridden further back in the field than previous starts if circumstances allow. Ridden accordingly. Inclined to lay out from the 600m until rounding the home turn. Rider J. Morris reported that his mount was inclined to hang out for a major part of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the right foreleg with some foot soreness. Trainer L. Ross was advised to report back to Stewards if there were any further abnormalities with the gelding in the coming days.
 
HONEY POT – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey J. Byrne was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
SPOOKY SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
HIMALAISM – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. When the pace settled near the 1000m, improved between SPOOKY SPIRIT and HATTUSA and had to be restrained.
 
CONTROLOCRACY – Began awkwardly, shifting out and bumping HATTUSA.
 
 
Race 6: XXXX DRY OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
HOLYFIELD – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOOMTOWN LASS – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

OAKFIELD TWILIGHT – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

THE BOPPER – Raced wide throughout.

TOKORIKI LAD – Slow to begin.
 
BAANONE – Raced wide throughout.
 
DASH FOR DREAMS – Began awkwardly shifting out onto INVINCIANO.
 
 
Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE Class 6 Plate 1600 metres
 
MOONAN ME – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Jockey L. Cassidy reported that the gelding wasn’t suited when it overraced in the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
MORETHANNUMBERONE – At the 300m, was obliged to alter course when it became awkwardly placed on the heels of BENTLEY MAGIC.
 
DUNE FORTY FIVE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
COSMIC GOSSIP – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8: 2022-23 BRC MEMBERSHIP ON SALE NOW Class 3 Plate 1400 metres
 
HOT SPRING GOLD – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE DRILLER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 500m, laid out and became awkward at the heels of COLLAY’S SPIRIT.
 
OPTIMO – Raced wide throughout.
 
SIENNA’S AWARD – Jumped awkwardly shifting out and bumping FIELD WIRI soon after the start. Raced wide throughout. Near the 250m, shifted out and away from FIELD WIRI resulting in COLLAY’S SPIRIT being bumped heavily and severely hampered, which then bumped with PENSO A LEI.
 
SOFFIKA – Raced wide throughout.
 
FIELD WIRI – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. When overracing near the 900m, had to be restrained. Held up for clear running in the home straight until the 250m. Near the 100m, improved between OPTIMO and VENDIDIT, brushed the hindquarters of VENDIDIT.
 
 
Race 9: MEKKA RACES ON SALE NOW QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
GREY DEFENCE – Overaced near the 900m and became awkward on the heels of GEMELON BOLT. Jockey J. Morris was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
KALASHNIKOV – Jockey J. Orman reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer L. Freedman was advised that KALASHNIKOV will require a veterinary examination prior to racing again.
 
GEMELON BOLT – Began awkwardly, shifting out and making heavy contact with SONNET STAR.
 
BURNING BELL – Raced three wide with no cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting a poor post race recovery. Connections advised that BURNING BELL will likely be sent for a spell.
 
ENABLER – Passing the 600m improved up onto the heels of SONNET STAR and then shifted out and bumped KALASHNIKOV.
 
THATFEELSBETTER – Jockey B. Thompson reported that rather than being caught wide he elected to restrain the gelding and consequently settled further back than anticipated.
