SUPPLEMTARY REPORT
 
Doomben 24/12/2022
Race 5 – Trainer Chris Munce reported that he is satisfied with the way MISS COOTA has pulled up and intends to continue with its preparation.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following rider overweight’s:

As Mark Du Plessis was injured and Ryan Wiggins was ill, changes were made as per the riding summary. Both riders will require medical clearances prior to riding again.
 
Following Race 7 Stewards took possession under AR22(1)(d) of a mobile phone found in the possession of rider Jaden Lloyd in the jockey’s room. After taking initial evidence from Mr Lloyd stewards adjourned an inquiry into this matter to a time and date to be fixed.
 
 
Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
OMILANA – Slow to begin. Forced wider approaching the 700m when SUGACANE CHAMPAGNE shifted out when over racing. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SUGACANE CHAMPAGNE – Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers after rider S. Thornton was harmlessly dislodged on route to the barriers and the filly travelled a short distance before being quickly recaptured. The filly was subsequently cleared to start. Raced greenly in the early stages. Commenced to over-race approaching the 700m and shifted outwards, forcing OMILANA wider. Following this event rider S. Thornton was examined and cleared to continue riding by the club doctor after advising she had some soreness in her right knee as a result of being dislodged.
 
 
Race 2: DOREEN BIRD Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 7 minutes owing to SUPAIRO being fractious and displacing its bridle which needed to be replaced. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that SUPAIRO would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
CANYOUFEELIT – Bumped at the start.
 
CAPITEEL – Slow to begin.
 
DEFERENTIAL – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Rider B. Thompson advised stewards that the gelding failed performed as expected which he attributed to becoming agitated prior to the start.
 
SUPAIRO – Began awkwardly and bumped CANYOUFEELIT. Rider B. Loy advised stewards that the gelding failed performed as expected which he attributed to becoming extremely agitated prior to the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Dunn was advised SUPAIRO would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
YOURALLTHAT – Raced in restricted room tom the inside of MR GALAZI approaching the 700m.
 
GODDESS OF PEACE – Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m when YOURALLTHAT was taken inwards by MR GALAZI which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider G. Cartwright, the rider of MR GALAZI, was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
SERIGALA – Over-raced in the early stages and had to be steadied from the heels of YOURALLTHAT approaching the 700m when that runner was taken inwards by MR GALAZI.
 
 
Race 3: 35 EUREKA STAKES GRADUATES IN 5 YEARS Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed owing to the delay in the previous event and also STUCK IN A DREAM requiring farrier attention.
 
HYPERVELOCITY – Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m. Approaching the 400m had to be checked by its rider when tightened for room between BEAN GROOVY and STAR CHANCE, which was taken outwards by STUCK IN A DREAM who was directed out to improve by its rider. Jockey C. Bayliss, the rider of STUCK IN A DREAM, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for directing his mount outwards approaching the 400m forcing STAR CHANCE wider and resulting in HYPERVELOCITY being tightened and checked when racing between STAR CHANCE and BEAN GROOVY. The licence to ride in races of C. Bayliss was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence on 5th January 2023, the expiration of a previous suspension incurred on 24/12/22, up to and inclusive of 13 January 2023, being free to resume riding in races on Saturday 14 January. Mr Bayliss was advised of his right to internal review.
 
STAR CHANCE – Cast its off-fore plate.
 
BEAN GROOVY – Race wide throughout.
 
DEEP MILLIONS – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.
 
STAR PRINCE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Disappointed for a run between I AM TAKINGTHELOT and BOOM KING approaching the 200m and was obliged to steady and shift inwards to secure clear running.
 
NANO STAR – Bumped shortly after the start. Unable to secure clear running over the final 100m and was not fully tested over the concluding stages.
 
I AM TAKINGTHELOT – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to take up a position closer to the rail. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
STUCK IN A DREAM – Cast its off-hind plate prior to entering the course proper which was then reaffixed on arrival at the barriers. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
CHECKERS (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
KOSCIUSKO – Reared at the start and lost ground.
 
THE CULLINAN – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
AVOLONTE – Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival to the course as a result of striking its head during transport and sustaining an abrasion to the nasal region. The gelding was subsequently cleared to start.
 
ROYAL EXIT - Rider M. Harley was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
PARADISE ISLAND – Rider A. Mallyon advised stewards that in his opinion the gelding was disappointing and may be better suited in a drop back to provincial class races. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery and also to be displaying signs of the thumps. Trainer representative M. Eggleston advised stewards the mare would likely be spelled.
 
Race 5: ZOUSAIN FIRST YEARLINGS SELLING 2023 QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
BETTER CLASS – Slow to begin. Rider M. Cahill was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
DARK HARMONY– Began awkwardly.
 
PORKY – Raced wide.
 
ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
ROY'S GIRL– Raced wide.
 
VALIANT JOAN– Raced wide.
 
YASMEEN – Rider J. Orman advised stewards he was disappointed in the performance of YAMEEN stating that the filly was under pressure approaching the home turn and failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed short striding in both forelimbs. Trainer representative B. Killion was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
Race 6: XXXX DRY Class 3 Handicap 1835 metres
 
GREEN FLASH – Hampered at the start.
 
OUTBURST – Raced wide in the early stages. – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
FLYING ROTHE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Over-raced in the early and middle stages and approaching the 700m shifted wider when racing keen.
 
GERARDJOSEPH – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
FINSCEAL – Slow to begin.
 
JIMMY'S DREAM – Approaching the 1100m shifted out when racing keen.
 
LITTLE VISTA – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
MILIARENSE – Rider L. Cassidy advised stewards that he was disappointed in the performance of the mare stating that MILIARENSE travelled well throughout however failed to response to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer B. Wakefield was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to MILIARENSE being permitted to race again.
 
PUTONTHEREDLIGHT – Began awkwardly. Steadied from the heels of JIMMY’S DREAM approaching the 800m when that runner shifted in. B. Thompson, the rider of JIMMY’S DREAM was advised to exercise greater care.
 
SOUNDS DIVINE – Began awkwardly.
 
OLENTIA – Eased approaching the 1000m when being crossed by MILIARENSE.
 
Race 8: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap1400 metres
 
PETUNIA – Held up upon entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
 
SCRIPT WRITER – Began awkwardly. Held up upon entering the home straight until passing the 300m.
 
DE MANARA - Held up upon entering the home straight until passing the 350m.
 
VYNER – Bumped at the 350m by DE MANARA which shifted out to improve. Rider J. Lloyd was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
ELECTED (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
 
MY ODDETTE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide.
