SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Eagle Farm 27-5-2023 Race 7 QLD Derby
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the home turn whereby SPECIAL SWEY (N. Rawiller) was checked when racing between PROMISES KEPT (M. Zahra) and KOVALICA (J. Macdonald). After taking evidence from the riders concerned, and reviewing the available angles, Stewards determined that PROMISES KEPT commenced to shift outwards to secure clear running causing SPECIAL SWEY to race in restricted room between that runner and KOVALICA, before PROMISES KEPT was then corrected by its rider, M. Zahra. It was also determined that KOVALICA shifted in marginally at that point which contributed to SPECIAL SWEY having to be checked. In assessing the matter, Stewards were mindful of the evidence tendered by N. Rawiller, however Stewards were critical of the movement of M. Zahra on PROMISES KEPT and M. Zahra was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident.
