Stewards permitted the following overweights at todays meeting:
 
Race 2- M Cahill +1kg
 
 
Stable representative for Waller Racing Mr B Killion was reprimanded under the provisions of LR36(7) for the late scratching the dual acceptors ESKY and KUREDDEN by the prescribed time.
 
 
 
Race 1: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES MAIDEN PLATE      1849M
 
BACK 'EM BLACK- Raced wide for the majority. Raced ungenerously in the early stages in an attempt to find a position with cover. Crowded between runners near the 250m. Momentarily eased and shifted in away from heels near the 150m.
 
GOLDEN HONOUR- Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader near the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had pulled up with mild heat stress.
 
SHAMISTER- Laid out for the majority. Laid out under pressure down the running momentarily hampering BACK ‘EM BLACK near the 250m and again near the 150m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer S Strazzieri was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result.
 
SMELTER (IRE)- Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
STATE A FACT- App B Wheeler was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
BID FOR FAME (NZ)- Began awkwardly. Jockey M Du Plessis advised that his intention had been to settle further forward however after beginning awkwardly was obliged to settle further back in the field.
 
I PREFER MINTIES (NZ)- Restrained from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Laid in under pressure down the running momentarily crowding BACK ‘EM BLACK near the 250m.
 
 
Race 2: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
 
BRASCO- Connections advised the intention from a favourable barrier would be to settle further forward if circumstance permit. Settled on-pace. Improved onto the heels of GENERAL BOOM approaching the winning post having to be steadied.
 
GENERAL BOOM- Began awkwardly.
 
SON OF SATONO (NZ)- Momentarily crowded on jumping.
 
POLARISING- Laid in approaching the 300m. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ACTION KING- Slow into stride. Raced keenly on heels approaching the 800m when momentarily crowded. Held up approaching the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
FLAG HALL- Began awkwardly. Raced greenly over the final 250m when placed under pressure.
 
LADY SHOTGUN- Began awkwardly. Momentarily crowded approaching the 800m.
 
QUEEN OF DARK- Raced keenly when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover near the 800m.
 
 
Race 3: REMEMBERING RICHARD HOFFMAN CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000M
 
STAR GAMBLE- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly approaching the 800m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position nearer the inside running rail.
 
BEAST MODE- Laid out under pressure over the final 200m, shifting out passing the winning post momentarily hampering WARRIORESS.
 
THATFEELSBETTER- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped BAG OF WHITT. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
CRANKY HARRY- Connections advised of an intention to have the gelding race with cover, circumstances permitting. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MAGNITUDO- Raced wide until a point near the 600m when restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Laid in approaching the 200m before being obliged to shift out away from heels leaving the 200m.
 
WARRIORESS- Momentarily hampered having to be shifted wider passing the winning post.
 
BAG OF WHITT- Bumped on jumping. Laid out under pressure leaving the 200m.
 
Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
 
Race 4: CENTURY POOLS CLASS 1 PLATE 1849M
 
BALTRAY- Connections advised it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden more forward than in its most recent starts, circumstances permitting. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly when crossed for some distance near the 1200m.
 
ENUNCIATION- Restrained in the early stages from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain cover and a position closer to the inside running rail. Raced keenly when the pace slackened near the 1200m. On entering the home straight laid in across the heels of GOLDEELUCK having to be steadied and laid in under pressure from that point on.
 
GOLDEELUCK- Raced keenly when the pace slackened near the 1200m. Laid in under pressure across heels near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-fore. Trainer M Sears was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
ISOMETRIC (NZ)- Held up on heels from the 600m-400m.
 
KUREDER (NZ)- Restrained in the early stages from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Raced keenly when the pace slackened near the 1200m. Became awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied near the 800m.
 
NIGHT VISION (NZ)- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages when attempting to obtain a position with cover and continued to race keenly down the back straight before being obliged to shift wider for a short distance when the pace slackened near the 1200m.
 
PATTI WAGGIN- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly when the pace slackened near the 1200m for some distance. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the final 250m. App M Castle was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
WILLNOTQUIT (NZ)- Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader near the 1200m before obtaining the lead soon after.
 
 
Race 5: CENTURY POOLS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1849M
 
OSTERMEIER- Slow into stride. Raced keenly near the 1500m and down the back straight. Held up on entering the home straight having to be shifted wider and obtaining clear running near the 200m.
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS- Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
UNDER THE CAP- Began awkwardly. When asked to comment regarding the performance Jockey A Mallyon advised that, in his opinion, the gelding is better suited to races over shorter distances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps.
 
KOKONOTSU- Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and obtain the lead near the 1400m.
 
NORTHERN DECREE (NZ)- Shifted in abruptly near the 1200m when racing keenly, momentarily crowding ENTERPRISE PHOENIX, before being corrected by its rider.
 
ASWAAT- Slow into stride. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
DECEMBER DIAMOND- Jockey J Lloyd dropped his whip near the 150m.
 
TIRITIRI (NZ)- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly near the 1500m and again raced keenly on heels near the 1400m.
 
ESKY (NZ)- Obliged to restrain from the heels of AGNELLI near the 1500m. Jockey M Murphy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding as a result.
 
ENTERPRISE PHOENIX- Raced keenly for the majority. Momentarily crowded near the 1200m when over-racing on heels. Momentarily crowded approaching the 200m.
 
 
Race 6: SUNLOVER POOL HEATING BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1400M
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY- Began awkwardly.
 
RIVIERA BLUE- Bumped on jumping. Bumped approaching the winning post.
 
VANTAN EXPRESS- Trainer M Renehan was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the gelding. Raced wide for the majority. When tiring was tightened for racing room and checked near the 250m when DARING BELLE shifted out marginally making contact with VANTAN EXPRESS causing it to become unbalanced and lose its position. Stewards noted that GIVE HIM WINGS laid in marginally at that time, which contributed to this incident.
 
HANG FIVE- Bumped on jumping.
 
CONFESSED- Hampered soon after the start having to be steadied. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Disappointed for a run passing the 100m having to be eased and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
EVOCATOR- Improved onto heels having to be steadied rounding the home turn.
 
HE'S THE NEWS- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BALDASSARE- Laid out near the 800m.
 
AIRSTRIKE- Jockey M Wishart dropped her whip near the 150m.
 
YASMEEN- Raced keenly in the early stages when restrained to obtain cover and a position closer to the inside running rail.
 
DARING BELLE- Bumped on jumping. Shifted marginally wider away from heels near the 250m tightening VANTAN EXPRESS which lost ground. Bumped approaching the winning post.
 
CHASETON- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room to the inside of AIRSTRIKE near the 200m. Held up for clear running approaching the winning post.
 
GIVE HIM WINGS- Raced keenly in the early stages when attempting to obtain a position with cover. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running, shifted in marginally tightening VANTAN EXPRESS to its inside near the 250m.
 
 
Race 7: POOL TILE COMPANY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
BOLD HOI HO (NZ)- Raced wide in the early stages.
 
CLOVER'S PRINCE- Momentarily hampered approaching the winning post when APRIL IN AUGUSTA laid in.
 
BOODUA ROMANCE- Bumped ALPHA GO near the 900m. Obliged to shift out to obtain clear running near the 150m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BOOM COURT- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly when crossed near the 900m.
 
ALPHA GO- Bumped on jumping. Crowded when racing keenly on heels near the 900m, shifted out and bumped BOODUA ROMANCE.
 
BLAKMAX- Restrained from the wide barrier in an effort to obtain cover and a position closer to the inside running rail.
 
VERY INTOXICATING- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow into stride.
 
APRIL IN AUGUSTA- Over-raced in the early stages when crossed. Raced keenly on heels near the 900m. Laid in over the final 200m. App C Graham was strongly advised to stop and straighten her mounts in similar circumstances.  
 
UNCLE BUD- Raced keenly when crossed near the 900m.
 
MY ODDETTE (NZ)- Trainer W Hulbert was reprimand under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the mare.
 
RONLEE GAL- Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 8: CENTURY POOLS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1500M
 
ROSOVO- Connections advised it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden further forward than in its most recent starts, circumstances permitting. Settled midfield after being unable to muster the early speed required for a forward position. Difficulty obtaining clear running leaving the 200m.
 
STARRY EYES- Raced keenly in the early stages. Over-raced near the 1100m. Taken wider near the 150m.
 
EXALTED CROWN- Raced wide for the majority. Finished tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
POETIC DRAMA (NZ)- Raced wide for the majority.
 
ARCARIUS (NZ)- Began awkwardly.
 
ROCKIN' ARTIE- Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover.
 
SPEED MAP- Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
GLEEFILLY- Held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting in. Inconvenienced near the 150m when obliged to shift out away from PORKY which laid out abruptly before being corrected.
 
PORKY- Raced wide in the early stages. Laid out abruptly under pressure near the 150m before being corrected by its rider. Again, laid out under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
LAGO DI BRAIES (NZ)- Slow into stride.
