Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2218 M
 
GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Over raced in the middle stages. Jockey J. Molloy was fined $400 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, which is two more times than permitted.
 
WITHOUT REVENGE (GB) – Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on today’s performance Jockey J. Huxtable stated that his mount over raced in the early stages and when asked for an effort, weakened and proved disappointing.  
 
KHAALIS (IRE) – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey D. Thornton stated his mount travelled fairly throughout but when asked for an effort, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery.
 
BRAVE BOY – Slow to begin.
 
MT MORT SHARK (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 2: STRONGER AT AQUIS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD PLATE 1000 M
 
UNEGA WAHY'A – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ZELEZNY – Approaching the 200m was inconvenienced and carried in by TERRITORY ASH which shifted in.
 
MISHANI EXPRESS – Declared a late scratching at 12:37pm due to its pre-race mannerism after bucking and dislodging Jockey B. Spriggs. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all monies invested in MISHANI EXPRESS to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st place – 6c win, 10c place.
2nd place – 8c
3rd place – 10c
Trainer L. Ross was advised the filly must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards which must include a race day saddle and equipment.
 
TERRITORY ASH – Hung in under pressure in the straight. Approaching the 200m shifted in abruptly, having to be corrected by its rider. Approaching the winning post, was obliged to shift wider.
 
MISHANI DELTA – Shortly after jumping commenced to buck, dislodging Jockey A. Allen.
Trainer L. Ross was advised the filly must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards which must include a race day saddle and equipment.
 
MISHANI LILY – Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
MYTHBUSTA – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 300m. Lost its near hind plate in running.
 
Jockey A. Allen was examined by club doctor and was passed as fit to fulfil his remaining rides in Toowoomba.
 
Race 3: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
ACTION KING – Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin.
 
NORTH OF ELI – Over raced in the middle stages. Approaching the 600m had to be steadied from heels.
 
INSTAGOOD – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 200m, making heavy contact with OCEANS OF ENERGY.
 
OCEANS OF ENERGY – Approaching the 200m, heavily bumped by INSTAGOOD which shifted out to improve. Jockey B. Thompson was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident and was reminded of his obligations to take greater care when shifting.
 
Race 4: EVA AIR BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1500 M
 
BOWRIDER – Trainer J. Bellamy was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. Raced wide in the early stages until the 1000m.
 
FESTIVAL PRINCE – Was momentarily inconvenienced passing the 1200m when tightened for room by MISSION OF LOVE which shifted in. Jockey T. Marshall was reprimanded for this incident and was reminded of his obligations to take greater care when shifting.
 
MAURICE'S MEDAD – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Passing the 1200m, had to be restrained when racing in restricted room to the inside of FESTIVAL PRINCE and as a result become awkward in its stride.
 
CUSACK – Was held up for clear running in the home straight and when attempting to shift around REGAL POM, became awkwardly placed on that runners’ heels and raced in restricted room for a number of strides.
 
SUNSET SOIREE – Restrained from a wider barrier to take up a position closer to the fence.
 
IRON GRACE – Hampered after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HALLSIDE MARTINI – Slow to begin. Passing the 50m had to be restrained when racing in restricted room between BOWRIDER and SECURITY ADVISOR which shifted in under riding. Apprentice M. Castle was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) and was advised to make greater effort to correct her mount when shifting ground in future. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: DRINKWISE NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1400 M
 
BONCASSIE – When asked to comment, Jockey A. Morgan stated he could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TITANIUM – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
 
MOBSTAR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Mallyon reported at scale that he became concerned with the action of the gelding in the home straight did not pressure MOBSTAR over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off fore. Trainer representative M. Egglestone was advised that MOBSTAR would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
KUDU – Raced wide throughout.
 
VETTA VELOCITA – Slow to begin.
 
CHICKERARTIE – Passing the 1200m had to steady when attempting to restrain to obtain cover behind BONCASSIE which shifted in. Continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey S. Cormack reported his mount never fully travelled throughout today’s event and was disappointed with today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
NAVAL TRADER – Raced wide throughout.
 
SWAMP NATION – Passing the 1200m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FASTLING which shifted in to obtain cover. G. Cartwright rider of FASTLING was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
Race 6: MICHAEL BALL CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1820M


KOKONOTSU – Difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
 
SEBRING GIRL – Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to take up a leading position passing the 1200m.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a slow post-race recovery.
 
TENZING (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
CONTRIBUTE (NZ) – Held up on entering the home straight.
 
ROCKIN' ARTIE – Trainer S. Morrisey was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Restrained from the outside barrier to a position closer to the rail.
 
WHISTLE HOFF – Over raced in the middle stages.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Raced wide for the majority.
 
GLAMOUR AND GLORY – Began awkwardly.
 
MARKWELL DREAMER – Raced wide throughout.
 
JUST SUPER – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey B. Thornton reported being first up today, the gelding would derive benefit and, in his opinion, would be better suited travelling over a further distance.
 
GLORIOUS RUBY – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
IMMORAL – When asked to comment regarding today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated he was disadvantaged from racing wide throughout the event and failed to finish off well. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a slow post-race recovery.
 
Following the running of race 7 the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospectively.
 
Race 8: XXXX OPEN HANDICAP 1600 M
 
TUMBLER RIDGE – Held up for clear running approaching the 200m.
 
BULLFINCH (GB) – Began awkwardly.
 
BOLLENTE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey A. Mallyon reported his mount travelled well throughout, however when asked for a finishing effort, failed to respond and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
INDISPENSABLE – Over raced throughout the event. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice C. Graham reported that her mount pulled hard throughout the event, was held up for clear running in the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to improve.  
 
TIDAL CREEK – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a slow post-race recovery.
 
LASTING KISS – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Awkwardly placed on the heels of TIDAL CREEK approaching the 100m.
 
 
Race 9: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
THE VOWELS – Bumped passing the 500m.
 
EKATERINA – Held up for clear running on entering the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off fore. Trainer R. Heathecote was advised EKATERINA would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing.
 
GOGOL – Raced wide throughout. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 150m.
 
HELL I AM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAFEWORK – Bumped after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LE MELODY – Trainer C. Morgan was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. Bumped after the start.
 
LORD MARKEL (NZ) – Bumped after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lacerations to both hind legs.
 
RED RUBI – Held up for clear running approaching the 200m and obliged to shift out to improve.
 
NEVER PAID – Trainer K. Schweida advised Stewards NEVER PAID will attempt to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Passing the 500m when attempting to improve, improved onto the heels of RED RUBY and as a result shifted out, contacting THE VOWELS, resulting in NEVER PAID having its hind quarters bumped and becoming unbalanced. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m when racing in restricted room to the inside of RED RUBY which shifted out to improve. Jockey A. Mallyon was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
