GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 5: 4 MALABOOM – J. Orman +0.5kg (56kg)
 
Race 1: EVIE NETWORKS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
Prior to correct weight, J. Orman the rider of AMATHUBA reviewed the footage over the concluding stages of the race however was satisfied and correct weight was declared on the judges’ numbers.
 
STARRY EYES – Shifted out at the start and bumped STRAPPARSI. Over raced in the early stages. Obliged to alter course near the 250m. Bumped at the winning post.
 
IRING – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 350m, laid in under pressure and had to be steadied from the heels of KUDU. Jockey A. Allen reported the gelding had a tendency to lay in throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STRAPPARSI– Bumped at the start and again leaving the 200m.
 
KUDU –Stewards permitted the gelding to race without a cross-over noseband and tongue tie. Trainer D. Smith was reprimanded pursuant to AR 206(2) for failing to lodge a gear(s) request prior to acceptance time. Bumped at the start. At the request of Trainer D. Smith, KUDU underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed gelding to have jarred up and was subsequently treated on-course.
 
FIXATED – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FUMIKO – Slow to begin. Approaching the winning post, laid in under pressure and bumped STARRY EYES.
 
HOOT 'N' HOLLER – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m, became momentarily awkward at heels and had to be steadied.
 
AMATHUBA – Disappointed for a run approaching the 350m. Leaving the 200m, shifted out in an effort to secure clear running and bumped STRAPPARSI. Raced in restricted room until approaching the 100m.
 
Race 2: MERCEDES-BENZ BRISBANE CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1600 M
 
QUOTHQUAN– Stewards accepted the reasons for the replacement of Apprentice J. Molloy for Apprentice B. Wheeler. Bumped at the start. Near the 1300m, inconvenienced and carried wider. Near the 1200m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SATASHI which shifted out when racing ungenerously. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 600m, inconvenienced and forced wider to avoid a fallen rider.
 
BLUE RAY – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. After the race it was noted the gelding had lost its off-hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed BLUE RAY sustained lacerations to its off-hind leg consistent with being galloped on and was subsequently treated on-course.
 
PORT MOURANT – Shifted in under pressure approaching the 300m.
 
TAUPO TIGER – Hampered on jumping. Inconvenienced leaving the 600m.
 
SEVENTIES HIT – Approaching the 250m, disappointed for a run between BLUE RAY and INTENTIONAL LASS which shifted in after being brushed by PORT MOURANT.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of heat stress.
 
WHO ORDERED DAFISH – Leaving the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of CRYPTIC VERSE when racing keen. Leaving the 600m, severely inconvenienced by the riderless CRYPTIC VERSE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
INTENTIONAL LASS – Shifted out on jumping and bumped QUOTHQUAN. Raced wide throughout. Brushed leaving the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a minor abrasion above the off hock. Jockey A. Mallyon was reprimanded pursuant to AR 128(2) for failing to seek permission prior to leaving the course.
 
SATASHI – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously throughout the event and proved difficult to settle.  Leaving the 1100m became awkwardly placed at heels and had to be steadied and again leaving the 800m. Inconvenienced leaving the 600m to avoid the fallen rider.
 
ELLE MAGIC – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 600m, inconvenienced and forced wider to avoid a fallen rider.
 
AU REVOIR – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Had to be steadied and raced in restricted room leaving the 1100m. Leaving the 600m, severely inconvenienced by the riderless CRYPTIC VERSE.
 
CRYPTIC VERSE – Approaching the 600m, laid out and became severely awkward at the heels of INTENTIONAL LASS resulting in the mare becoming unbalanced and dislodging rider A. Allen. Jockey A. Allen was assessed by QAS officials and the club doctor and was stood down from his remaining engagements and advised that he would require medical clearance prior to resuming riding. Jockey A. Allen advised at the point of the incident where he was dislodged, he felt that the mare resented racing between runners and shifted out of its own accord resulting in him being dislodged. Trainer J. King was asked to report back to Stewards in the subsequent days as to how the mare pulls up and his immediate plans. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CLASSIQUE GAL – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 600m, inconvenienced and forced wider to avoid a fallen rider.
 
Race 3: ACE CLASS 3 PLATE     1400 M
 
DARK HARMONY – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
PERSEVERE – Raced wide throughout. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was advised the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Jockey N. Beriman was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip six (6) times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
SCHMOOZER – Approaching the 1300m, shifted in and away from DARK HARMONY causing runners to his inside being placed within restricted racing room.  M. Du Plessis the rider of DARK HARMONY was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) in that he should have allowed greater tolerance when crossing. In issuing a severe reprimand to M. Du Plessis, Stewards noted the contributing factors attributed to SCHMOOZER in that the gelding continued to cause tightening to runners on its inside. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TENZING (NZ) – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position nearer to the rail. Approaching the 1200m, severely checked to avoid heels and shifted wider. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
THUNDER MANIA – Bumped and had its hindquarters turned leaving the 1300m.
 
WHODAT – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position nearer to the rail. Approaching the 1200m, steadied from heels to avoid TENZING (NZ) which shifted out.
 
BROOKHAVEN – Bumped on jumping. Obliged to alter course leaving the 350m to secure clear running.
 
VOLDEMORT– Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority.  
 
KINETIC – Reared as the start was effected. Approaching the 1300m, raced in restricted room to the inside of SCHMOOZER which shifted in and away from DARK HARMONY. Approaching the 250m, was brushed by BROOKHAVEN.
 
OCEAN ZAR – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1300m and was buffeted between runners before having to be steadied and losing its position approaching the 1200m. Rider B. Thornton advised Stewards that after the mare suffered interference near the it did not feel comfortable in its action and for that reason he elected not to pressure his mount for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 4: VECCHIO PROPERTY GROUP QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP       1000 M
 
DEVINE FORCE – Raced wide throughout. Began awkwardly.
 
EL MORZILLO– Raced wide throughout. Carried wider approaching the 50m when ZOUNA shifted out under pressure.
 
MISHANI LILY – Bumped shortly after the start. Put in an awkward stride leaving the 200m and was then inclined to lay in for the remainder. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filling to be exhibiting signs of a slow post-race recovery.
 
ZOUNA – Laid out when placed under pressure over the final 100m.
 
BUTWEDID – Began awkwardly.
 
I'M ZAC – Raced wide throughout. Laid in over the final stages.
 
PETTICOAT – Hampered on jumping.
 
UNDER THE SHADOW– Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after the filly received farrier attention to the near hind plate in the tie ups and was subsequently cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: CHEMIST WAREHOUSE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP       1000 M
 
OUTWEIGHED – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 50m and became unbalanced.
 
MALABOOM – After the race it was noted that the filly had lost it’s off fore plate.
 
SUNNYCOAST – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that the gelding raced keenly with the blinkers on and hung in over the last 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of a slow post-race recovery.
 
CONNEWARRE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Near the 50m, was disappointed for a run between HEARTONI which shifted out slightly and bumped with OUTWEIGHED which laid in before shifting back to the inside to secure clear running.  
 
NORTH OF ELI – Near the 50m when laying in, was obliged to steady from the heels out OUTWEIGHED which shifted out after being bumped.
 
SZABO – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 6: PITCHER PARTNERS CLASS 6 HANDICAP         1000 M
 
OSAMU – Shortly after the start, OSAMU laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
HOLD ON HONEY – Near the 850m, momentarily steadied from the heels of OSAMU which shifted in. Apprentice T. Fenlon was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be stepping short in the near hind and exhibiting signs of a slow post-race recovery. The stable’s representative was advised that the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to its off hind and was subsequently treated on-course.
 
NASHIRA – Shortly after the start, shifted in before contacting the hindquarters of MAXIMUM OUTPUT becoming unbalanced.
 
GEMELON BOLT – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
MUSCHIALLI – Raced wide throughout.
 
RED RUBI – Slow to begin. Shortly thereafter, steadied from the heels of NASHIRA.
 
BRING ME KASH – Shifted out shortly after the start.
 
APOPHIS – Hampered shortly after the start when BRING ME KASH laid out and was buffeted. Over raced. Leaving the 200m was checked. Stewards adjourned an inquiring into the circumstances regarding the gelding being checked at the 200m to a date and time to be fixed owing to Jockey G. Cartwright having to fulfill engagements at another meeting. Jockey G. Cartwright reported in her opinion her mount was not comfortable racing tightly amongst horses and prefers more galloping room.
 
Race 7: ETHOS ORTHODONTICS FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP  1200 M
 
BUBBA'S BAY – Bumped approaching the 200m.
 
MAHBABY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 1100m when over racing, steadied from the heels of BARISTASISTA. Continued to over race for some distance. Steadied from heels approaching the 600m.  
 
CRAZY TRAIN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Forced wider at the 800m.
 
OUTLAWED – Bumped on jumping.
 
PRINCESS TENKO – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Approaching the 200m, bumped with BUBBA'S BAY.
 
TOJAKI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 250m, became awkwardly placed and had to be corrected away from the heels of BRAVE MASO. When laying in approaching the 100m, steadied from heels and was obliged to shift wider to secure clear running. Jockey R. Dolan reported that after beginning awkwardly, he settled further back in the field than anticipated.
 
BARISTASISTA – Shifted out at the 800m when racing keenly at heels.
 
MISHANI ROYALE – Buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
Race 8: GO TRANSIT MEDIA GROUP COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
LA AMIGO – Raced wide throughout. Shifted out and away from the heels of OVIDIUS near the 350m.
 
OUR MAGNUS – Raced wide throughout. Carried wider nearing the 350m. Approaching the 700m, obliged to restrain from the heels of LA AMIGO when not fully clear. Apprentice J. Molloy was advised to exercise greater care regarding this incident.
 
STARZAM – Slow to begin. Carried wider nearing the 350m.
 
FASTCONI – Slow to begin.
 
JAMAICAN RUMBA – Raced wide throughout.
 
THIS IS ONE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIBERTY STEPS – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn. Carried wider nearing the 350m.
 
Race 9: LADBROKES RACING CLUB OPEN HANDICAP         1600 M
 
DARK DREAM – Raced wide until approaching the 1000m.
 
BONNY EZRA (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
STAR OF MICHELIN – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in particular leading the event, rider S. Collett it was not her intention to race so far forward however after beginning fairly from a wide barrier, she pressured the gelding in an effort to secure a midfield position however, when it became apparent that she would be caught wide, she elected to allow the gelding to stride forward to the lead approaching the 1200m. She further added that the gelding would be better suited ridden more conservatively and with cover.
 
PERFECT THOUGHT – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D. Thornton stated that he could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the gelding’s performance. Trainer J. Sargent advised that the gelding would now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
RED WAVE – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
WAPITI – Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 100m and was momentarily steadied from the heels of WAIRERE FALLS (NZ).
 
FIFTH POSITION (IRE) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced and had to be steadied from heels leaving the 1100m. Laid in when placed under pressure approaching the 200m before shifting out abruptly approaching the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
OSTERMEIER – Over raced in the early stages.
 
SO DAPPER – Jockey L. Tarrant was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip six (6) times prior to the 100m, one (1) more than permitted.
