SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Doomben Race 8 Saturday 17 May 2025 LADBROKES DOOMBEN 10,000
Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons why VEIGHT (A Mallyon) had to be checked shortly after the start. Jockey J. Mott rider of LIBERTAD pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that shortly after jumping, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SCHWARZ who was carried in onto VEIGHT who had to be checked. Jockey J. Mott’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days, commencing midnight Monday 9 June 2025, concluding midnight Friday 20 June 2025.

NAVY PILOT – Began awkwardly.
MEET GEORGE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild heat stress.
BRAZEN SAILOR – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 500m when commencing to weaken.
PROVIDENCE – Passing the 250m, was momentarily inconvenienced having to avoid the heels of NAVY PILOT which shifted out before being corrected. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
LEVERAGED BUYOUT – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
I AM CARROT – Began awkwardly.
KOZAK PRINCE – Tightened at the start between NAVY PILOT which shifted out and SUNRAYS which shifted in.
SUNRAYS – Began awkwardly.
DON'TDOUBTHELADY – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount commenced to hang out from the 800m and on straightening, failed to respond to his riding placing him at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer C. Taylor advised it is his intention to send the filly for a spell. Trainer C. Taylor was advised the filly would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing.
JENNI GONE BONKERS – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
HIGHGROVE ROSE – Slow to begin. Passing the 150m, was obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of DON'TDOUBTHELADY which shifted in whilst weakening.
Race 2: LADBROKES LIGHTNING HANDICAP - LISTED 1000 M
STEADY READY – Apprentice C. Collis reported the gelding, which was first up today, was disappointing in its finishing effort however would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Co-Trainers T and M. Sears were advised STEADY READY would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
NETTUNO – Tightened for room shortly after the start between AUSTMARR and STEADY READY. Apprentice C. Collis rider of STEADY READY, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances and to stop and straighten his mount. Passing the 300m, shifted in to obtain clear running.
WANDA ROX – Began awkwardly.
TIGER SHARK – Began awkwardly.
SHALAA'S MOMENT – Began awkwardly.
AUSTMARR – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 600m had to be steadied after improving on the heels of TIGER SHARK.
METALART – Had difficulty obtaining clear on entering the home straight. Near the 200m, obliged to shift in to improve into clear running.
VODKA MARTINI – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
Race 3: MAGIC MILLIONS NATIONAL CLASSIC 1600 M
LEKVARTE (NZ) – Shortly after jumping, had to be steadied when tightened for room by LITTLE MIX which shifted out. Raced in restricted room near the 200m for a short distance. When asked to comment on the performance, J. Parr stated the mare was never comfortable in the run and in his opinion is better suited to racing to the outside of runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PULCHRITUDINOUS (NZ) – Hampered shortly after jumping.
MISS JOELENE – Hampered on jumping. Obliged to alter course near the 300m in an attempt to improve into clear running. Approaching the 250m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of PULCHRITUDINOUS (NZ) and had to shift across that runners’ heels to improve into clear running.
OSMOSE (FR) – Began awkwardly.
MARE OF MT BULLER – Raced wide for the majority.
LITTLE MIX – Shifted out at the start.
ROSE BLOOM (IRE) – Began awkwardly, shifted out. Hampered shortly after jumping.
EXOTIQUE MISS – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
POETIC DRAMA (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 150m and raced in a restricted room for a short distance inside the 100m.
ADIELLA – Laid in rounding the home turn. Continued to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 4: THE STAR MORETON CUP - GROUP 2 1200 M
PUNCH LANE – Raced wide for the majority.
HIDDEN WEALTH – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SPACEWALK – Commenced to over race in the middle stages.
OUGHTON – Raced wide for the majority.
WARNIE (IRE) – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, particularly in the middle stages of the home straight, Jockey E. Brown stated his mount had a tendency to lay in and approaching the 150m when SPACEWALK commenced to shift out towards his line, rather than halt his mounts momentum and attempt to shift out around the heels of SPACEWALK, he elected to shift in resulting in WARNIE (IRE) having an unimpeded run to the finish.
LUBRICATION – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer M. Dunn was advised LUBRICATION would be stood down from racing pursuant to AR 79(4) for 3 months and must trial or gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards prior to resuming.
BOOM TORQUE – Hampered passing the 150m, when racing in restricted room.
SEMANA – Began awkwardly. Passing the 200m, inconvenienced by OUGHTON which shifted in. Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
Race 5: U&U RECRUITMENT QUEENSLAND DAY STAKES - LISTED 1200 M
COLEMAN – Connections advised a change of tactics, to attempt to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
WINNASEDGE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Zahra stated he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
HELLA FAST – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
DETRIMENTAL – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
VELOCIOUS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Commenced to weaken in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey E. Brown stated the filly did not feel comfortable in the going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
AMELITA – Passing the 50m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of WINNASEDGE which laid in when racing in restricted room.
GERRINGONG – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
PRIDE TO FOLLOW – Over raced in the middle stages and brushed ZOUBABY and had to be steadied off heels. Continued to over race.
SOUTHERN CHARM – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
FINGERS HUNTER – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 100m, had to be steadied when tightened for running between DREAM SMART and PIERATA'S GEM which shifted out before being corrected.
LUTETIA – Laid in in the early stages.
HEAVENLY IMPACT – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
SILVER WEDDING – Connections advised a change of tactics, to attempt to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
Race 6: NUTURF SPEAR CHIEF HANDICAP - LISTED 1500 M
DESERT LIGHTNING (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
RUSTIC STEEL – Raced wide for the majority.
ATTRACTABLE – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
TRANSATLANTIC – Over raced in the early stages.
WILLIAMSBURG – Connections advised a change of tactics, to attempt to settle back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m.
BANK MAUR – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages.
COSMIC VEGA (IRE) – Connections advised a change of tactics, to attempt to settle further forward. Settled at the rear of the field. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, Jockey J. Collett stated after only beginning fairly, he was mindful of being caught three wide and elected to settle further back.
RISING PACIFIC (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
RHAPSODY CHIC (NZ) – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
KITTY ROSE (GB) – Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 50m, held up for clear running and was unable to be fully tested to the finish. Raced wide for the majority.
TAVS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical symptoms of heat stress.
BANANA SLIDE – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Passing the 150m, obliged to alter course to secure clear running.
Race 7: EVA AIR KINGSFORD SMITH CUP - GROUP 1 1300 M
GIGA KICK – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Zahra stated he was disappointed in the gelding’s finishing efforts. Trainer C. Douglas added he did not think GIGA KICK was suited to today’s surface however had pulled up fine on return to the stable. He also advised it is his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
ZARASTRO – Began awkwardly.
PAYLINE – Slow to begin. Weakened over the concluding stages.
LIBERTAD – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
DEMOCRACY MANIFEST – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. McEvoy stated the gelding was not suited to the fast early tempo. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 8: SEVEN QUEENSLAND OAKS - GROUP 1 2200 M
BENAGIL – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 300m, had to be steadied off heels.
PHILIA – Raced wide until the 1400m.
MOVIN OUT (NZ) – Inconvenienced passing the 1000m and was carried out contacting PINITO.
CHURCHILL'S CHOICE – Began awkwardly.
YOU WAHNG – Passing the 600m, was awkwardly placed racing in restricted room after becoming awkward at the heels of the weakening SWELTERING.
JENNI'S MEADOW – Over raced.
REAL CLASS (NZ) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 300m, had to be checked after being carried in across the heels of ELLA HAZEL by SHES A DEALER which shifted in. Jockey G. Rooke rider of SHE’S A DEALER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 300m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in REAL CLASS (NZ) being carried in across the heels of ELLA HAZEL and had to be checked. Jockey G. Rooke’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of fourteen (14) days, commencing midnight Sunday 15 June 2025 concluding midnight Sunday 29 June 2025.
PINITO – Began awkwardly. Hampered passing the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
PLEASURE ARTIST– Obliged to alter course passing the 400m to improve into clear running/
SWELTERING – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 300m.
POSTER GIRL – Carried wider on entering the home straight and passing the 300m, raced in restricted room for a short distance. After the race it was noted the filly had lost its off fore and off hind plates.
SHE'S A DEALER – Raced wide. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of PINITO approaching the 200m.
AMPLIFY – Approaching the 1000m, when steadying after improving onto heels, shifted out inconveniencing MOVIN OUT (NZ).
SUN WORSHIPPER – Contacted the barrier partition on jumping.
ELLA HAZEL – Raced wide.
MISTING – Slow to begin. Trainer D. Vandyke reported the filly had nasal discharge following the running of the race and that it is his intention to send MISTING for a spell.
Race 9: LADBROKES QUEENSLAND DERBY - GROUP 1 2400 M
PARTY CRASHER (NZ) underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being contacted by another horse behind the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:52pm.
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on PARTY CRASHER (NZ) to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - MAISON LOUIS (NZ) – 9c win, 11c place.
2nd - KING OF THUNDER (NZ) – 11c place.
3rd - CHASE YOUR DREAMS (NZ) – 11c place.
Trainer M. Hickmott was advised PARTY CRASHER (NZ) would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
FIRM AGREEMENT – Hampered shortly after the start. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Mott reported the gelding was disappointing and in his opinion has come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
STATUARIO – Over raced in the early stages.
KING OF THUNDER (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages. Shortly after straightening, had its hindquarters turned becoming severely unbalanced.
BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Laid in rounding the home turn.
POLITELY DUN – Was momentarily inconvenienced shortly after straightening.
OUR BENEFACTOR (NZ) – Passing the 400m, had its hindquarters contacted becoming severely unbalanced.
SCINTILLANTE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over raced and had to be checked from heels leaving the winning post on the first occasion.
ROGAN (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages.
FEMMINILE – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow as a result.
BELLE DETELLE – Shifted wider passing the 1600m and was allowed to stride forward to take up a leading position approaching the 1000m.
CHASE YOUR DREAMS (NZ) – Had to be checked shortly after straightening to avoid the heels of KING OF THUNDER which was hampered.
THE MUFFIN MAN – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey E. Brown reported his mount made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out contacting OUR BENEFACTOR (NZ). He added the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery and had lost its near hind plate.
Race 10: MAGIC MILLIONS HELEN COUGHLAN STAKES - LISTED 1200 M
TERRA MATER – Began awkwardly.
COMRADE ROSA – Raced wide for the majority. Passing the 250m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between SASSY MERLOT (NZ) and COEUR VOLANTE (NZ) which shifted in. Jockey M. Zahra was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY – Jockey T. Berry reported his mount was inclined to hang in and proved difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FORTUNATE KISS – Raced wide for the majority.
MAHBABY – Raced wide for the majority.
DIRTY DANCING – Passing the 150m, had to be steadied when improving onto the heels of the weakening NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY.
