SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Sunshine Coast 13/07/2025
Race 6: Stewards concluded an inquiry into USE YOUR ILLUSION racing in blinkers. Trainer T. Gollan was fined $100 pursuant to AR 206(3) for presenting a horse to race with gear that had not been approved. In determining penalty, Stewards considered Trainer T. Gollan’s good record in relation to this rule.
GENERAL
Race 8: Stewards accepted the reasons for the late rider of OUR UPTOWN GIRL.
RACE 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE MAIDEN PLATE 1800 M
ORMOND ROAD – Became fractious prior to the start being effected and as a result was slow to begin.
GAS BRIGADE – Near the 1600m, momentarily raced in restricted room. Held up rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room leaving the 150m and was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of the rider of WIMOWEH.
WIMOWEH – Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 2: MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M
NORTHERN EAGLE – Began awkwardly.
YOYO YEEZY – Bumped shortly after the start. Shifted out when racing greenly over the concluding stages.
ATLANTIC LACE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide.
EQUINE ART – Bumped YOYO YEEZY shortly after the start.
IMMEDIATE – Raced wide. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
I'LLTELLYOUTONIGHT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 250m was obliged to steady and alter course to the outside of MAGICAL EYE, which shifted in. When racing greenly approaching the 50m, was obliged to steady and shift in to avoid the heels of NORTHERN EAGLE. Jockey G. Cartwright reported at scale that her mount raced greenly throughout.
Following this the race the track was upgraded to Good 4.
RACE 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M
JENCHICK BOOM– Began awkwardly.
PIERRE CARDINNIGAN – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
LONE ARTIST – Began awkwardly.
VELOZES – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
CLUBHOUSE – Connections advised that from the inside barrier and smaller field that the gelding may settle in a more forward position. Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 600m raced in restricted room.
GLASS OF ROSE – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.
RACE 4: TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 2 AUGUST MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
IHAVESEENTHELIGHT – Began awkwardly and bumped ELROY. Approaching the 250m, was disappointed for a run between RIGHTEOUS LEGEND and ARGERICH and had to be steadied.
SIGLO DE ORO – Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that his mount was inclined to hang out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
RIGHTEOUS LEGEND – Bumped shortly after the start.
ARGERICH – Raced wide.
SHE'S GOT LYRICS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped RIGHTEOUS LEGEND. Over-raced early.
BRUTAL SUE – Near the 600m, was momentarily crowded for room by PRIZED GESTURE, which shifted in.
CAVARETTA – Began awkwardly.
VALENCIA ROC (NZ) – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that VALENCIA ROC (NZ) would attempt to settle back with cover if circumstances permit. Settled in a midfield position with cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ELROY – Began awkwardly and bumped IHAVESEENTHELIGHT.
PRIZED GESTURE – Near the 600m, shifted in and brushed BRUTAL SUE.
RACE 5: EAGLE FARM 160 YEARS RACEDAY COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M
ECCLESTONE – Began awkwardly and bumped NO DOUBLE DIPPING. Raced wide for the majority.
ANSON BAY – Cast its off fore-plate in the mounting yard and had to be reshod. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice E. Lang pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, and 14 times in total. Apprentice E. Lang’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 30th July 2025 and to conclude midnight 6th August 2025. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
HOFFMAN – Began awkwardly. Trainer B. Healy reported that the tongue tie had become displaced during the running of the event.
DE FORZA – Brushed the rail and became unbalanced near the 600m. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight,
ALL VALOUR – Began awkwardly. Jockey K. Matheson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 9 times prior to the 100m, and 13 times in total. Jockey K. Mathesons license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 25th July 2025 and to conclude midnight 1st August 2025. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines. Jockey K. Matheson was reprimanded pursuant to AR 128(2) for leaving the course without permission.
NO DOUBLE DIPPING – Bumped at the start and had its hindquarters turned by ALL VALOUR. Brushed the rail and became unbalanced near the 600m.
CAVALHEIRO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having raced on Saturday 19/07/2025 and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 6: XXXX GOLD FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M
RED HOT LIZZIE – Held up from the 400m until leaving the 300m. Leaving the 300m, shifted out to improve and bumped heavily with ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was fined $400 pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount to the finishing line. In determining penalty, Stewards were satisfied that jockey Wilson-Taylor’s actions had not affected the final placing of his mount and also took into account his poor record in relation to this rule.
ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ) – Bumped heavily leaving the 300m. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor the rider of RED HOT LIZZIE was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Jockey R. Maloney reported that his instructions were to race in a forward position, however shortly after the start with pace shown by inside runners, he elected to restrain and look for cover as opposed to being caught wide.
MAGIC ISLAND – Momentarily steadied near the 300m when awkwardly placed at the heels of RED HOT LIZZIE which shifted out to secure clear running.
ZOUFANI – Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight.
PRIVATE EQUITY – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground when ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ) shifted in.
DIVINE SOURCE - Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight.
MAYBE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 7: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M
TIGER TIE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
SURPRISE HONEY – Raced wide. Approaching the 700m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of TIGER TIE which shifted in. Apprentice S. Grima was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
JUNGLE LAW – Laid in under pressure approaching the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Jockey R. Maloney was fined $200 pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finishing post. In determining penalty, Stewards were satisfied that jockey Maloney’s actions had not affected the final placing of his mount and also took into account his record in relation to this rule.
MONTE CRUISE – Trainer N. Mayfield-Smith was reprimanded pursuant to AR 106(1) for presenting MONTE CRUISE without winkers.Began awkwardly. Near the 800m, Apprentice C. Bellamy had to make efforts to adjust her nearside iron. A short distance later improved on to the heels of lang and was obliged to shift wider.
SPIRITUAL SONG – Jockey A. Jones reported that her mount raced flat and was disappointing.
RACE 8: LADBROKES QUICK MULTI CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1800 M
CAPTAIN FENKEL - Near the 700m improved onto heels when the pace of the race slackened.
MISTRESSOFILLUSION (IRE) – Apprentice B. Wheeler was harmlessly dislodged when leaving the mounting enclosure. Trainers representative for the Waller stable was advised that a warning would be placed on mare in relation to its pre-race manners. Began awkwardly. Near the 700m had to be checked from heels when the pace of the race slackened. Improved onto heels near the 350m and was obliged to shift in. Near the 50m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of CAPTAIN FENKEL which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice C. Vitler the rider of CAPTAIN FENKEL was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Cast its off-hind plate.
MISS CHENERY – Held up from the 600m until the 250m.
KARIACTION – Jockey M. Hellyer was harmlessly dislodged enroute to the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
OUR UPTOWN GIRL – Slow to begin.
YOU AND I (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 1:57pm due to being injured whilst being transported to the races. Trainer J. Morris was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing.
ROTHSPHENE – Raced wide until leaving the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had gotten its tongue over the bit and may have choked down. Trainer D. Bougoure was advised that the gelding would now be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
