SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Eagle Farm 2/8/2025 Race 3HAPPY HORSES' BIRTHDAY Class 3 Handicap
Trainer B. Gray subsequently reported that blood samples were taken from KELLY’S LANDING which failed to indicate any concerns and as such, the stable would continue with the current preparation.
RACE 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1600 M
NATIONAL CHOICE – Slow to begin.
THIS'LLBETHEONE – Whilst weakening near the 300m, raced in restricted room between CUNNAMULLA FELLA and YET HE MOVES which laid in under pressure. Jockey R. Maloney rider of YET HE MOVES was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
KADALL – On return to scale Jockey H. Van Der Hoven reported that his mount over raced during the early and middle stages, failed to settle at any point and in his opinion, this was detrimental to the gelding’s finishing efforts.
RACE 2: U&U RECRUITMENT CLASS 3 PLATE 1400 M
PRADO – Slow to begin and bumped shortly after the start.
LONE ARTIST – Fractious in the barriers and as result was slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 1100m, shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Apprentice J. McMurray stated that after racing wide throughout the event, his mount failed to quicken when placed under pressure in the straight and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
AITUTAKI – Carried wider near the 1100m when LONE ARTIST shifted out. Restrained for cover near the 800m.
MORE LOVE – Bumped after the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
VELOZES – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
RACE 3: TRACKSIDE WITH RICKY PONTING BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
LORDSTER – Slow to begin then hampered shortly after. Passing the 1000m whilst racing in restricted room to the inside of TRY EVERYTHING, commenced to race fiercely and when approaching the 800m, checked from heels and shifted wider on the track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a contusion on the gelding’s near fore cannon.
ANTONITO (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BEAU WITNESS – Approaching the 800m, hampered and carried wider by LORDSTER which shifted out whilst racing fierce. Over raced early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
KEEP SAFE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
PIVOTAL LAD – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m, severely hampered by LORDSTER which was racing fierce to that runners outside. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TRY EVERYTHING – Passing the 1000m, had to be steadied whilst over racing to avoid the heels of KEEP SAFE which shifted in to obtain cover. Jockey M. Harley rider of KEEP SAFE was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a).
BEREZKA – Near the 900m was bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced. Raced wide throughout.
JUST PRECIOUS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
ARABIAN ROSE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 200m.
RACE 4: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY 6 SEPTEMBER BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes after a section of the track near the 1100m required remediation.
CASPERNOVA – Passing the 1200m had to check to avoid the heels of NATIVE KING which was hampered and carried in by SULTRY SIREN which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey T. Marshall rider of SULTRY SIREN pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 1200m, he permitted SULTRY SIREN to shift in when insufficiently clear of NATIVE KING, causing that runner to become hampered and carried in onto CASPER NOVA, causing CASPER NOVA to check and avoid the heels of NATIVE KING and lose its rightful running. Jockey T. Marshall’s license to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 16/8/2025 up to and including midnight 23/8/2025.
EXPECTANT – Slow to begin.
FREE CARRY – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
CRAFTY EAGLE – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion. Trainer J. P. Thompson reported that it was now their intention to retire the gelding. Trainer J. P. Thompson was advised of the provisions of AR 79(4).
JONNY DA WOLF (NZ) – Jockey M. Harley reported at scale that in his opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
NATIVE KING (GB) – Raced keenly during the middle stages.
RACE 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2400 M
PICKO ROCKS – Slow to begin.
FIOPROSPERO – Jockey R. Maloney stated he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mucoid discharge present. Trainer M. Smith was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic examination results prior to resuming.
AHURIRI (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
BENGAL BOY – Slow to begin. Near the 700m inconvenienced when attempting a narrow run to the inside of JUNGLE JET (NZ) which shifted in and was obliged to steady.
JUNGLE JET (NZ) – Raced wide until approaching the 1600m.
ARTFUL GIRL – Raced wide until the leaving the 1300m and obtaining a position outside the leader. Jockey M. Savva pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 11 times prior to the 100m, 16 times totality. Jockey M. Savva’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days commencing midnight 9/8/2025 up to and including midnight 20/8/2025.
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Lost its near hind plate.
RACE 6: MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 M
MISHANI EXTREME – Raced four wide throughout.
IMPERVIOUS – Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run near the 250m between FOREIGN PRESS and BOOMSHANKA. Raced three wide throughout.
BOOMSHANKA – Laid out under pressure over the final 150m. Jockey B. Thompson reported his mount may not have appreciated today’s rain affected track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
TINKERBELLA – Laid out rounding the home turn.
MILESTONE – Raced three wide throughout.
FOREIGN PRESS – Resaddled on arrival to the barriers. Raced greenly when placed under pressure over the final 300m.
RACE 7: XXXX OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M
CHRYSAOR – Jockey A. Mallyon reported that in his opinion the gelding was not suited to today’s track conditions. Representative for C. Waller, B. Killion advised Stewards that on return to the stables, the gelding would be examined by the stable Veterinarian and consideration would be put towards the current preparation of CHRYSAOR. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FLASH AAH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer T. Pascoe stated that following its last start at the Caloundra Cup, the decision was made to give the gelding a quick freshen up and drop back in distance. He further added that in his opinion, the slow early tempo of today’s race, was detrimental to the finishing efforts of the gelding. He added that he would likely step FLASH AAH back out to a suitable distance but would report back on the condition of the gelding on return to his stable.
AMUR – Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that it wasn’t his intention to settle so far forward but after beginning well, he was intending to find cover behind SUPER DUCK but after that runner failed to push forward, he ended up leading today’s event.
SAILOR'S SECRET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
SUPER DUCK – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the 900m turn. Near the 350m whilst laying in, steadied from the heels of AMUR which shifted out slightly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 8: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1200 M
The start of this race was slightly delayed after gear had to be adjusted on LARRIKIN ROGUE on arrival to the barriers.
POWER BEAU – Near the 800m raced in restricted room for a considerable distance to the inside of GOSPEL GIRL.
ZELGARIA – Near the 850m, carried wider when SINGLE TOUCH shifted out after improving onto heels. Raced wide for the remainder.
TIJUANA TWO STEP – Over raced during the middle stages. Jockey L. Tilley reported that his mount over raced with the addition of blinkers for the first time.
ABOUT TO EXPLODE – Raced wide throughout.
BRAVELY – Slow to begin. Near the 850m, raced in restricted room between ABOUT TO EXPLODE and LION CLASS which when over racing, shifted out. Passing the 750m, had its hind quarters contacted, resulting in the gelding becoming awkward in its stride. Jockey J. Bayliss reported that after suffering interference in the middle stages, his mount failed to run on in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SINGLE TOUCH – Near the 850m when the pace slackened, improved onto heels and shifted out. Raced wide for the remainder.
LARRIKIN ROGUE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 750m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of LION CLASS after that runner was obliged to steady.
LION CLASS – Near the 850m, commenced to over race, improved onto heels and shifted out. Approaching the 750m, severely hampered and had to be restrained when racing in restricted room between BRAVELY and FIGHTING IDOL which shifted out marginally. Laid out under pressure in the home straight, approaching the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of TIJUANA TWO STEP.
DUCHESS BREE – Slow to begin.
RACE 9: LADBROKES TOP 2/3/4 BETTING BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000 M
EMPEROR – Approaching the 800m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of INTRODUCING which had to be checked.
BELEGATO (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off foreleg. Trainer L. Birchley was advised BELEGATO (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing or trialing.
INTRODUCING – Approaching the 800m had to be checked to avoid the heels of TIKKA READY which was carried in by SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) which was contacted and carried in by ARISPHERE which was carried in by FLAMING CONQUEST which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice C. Sutherland rider of FLAMING CONQUEST pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Apprentice C. Sutherland’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 17/8/2025 up to and including midnight 25/8/2025. Approaching the 200m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of TIKKA READY which shifted out under riding.
SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 800m by ARISPHERE who was carried in.
ARISPHERE – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 800m by FLAMING CONQUEST which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TIKKA READY – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 800m when carried in by SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ).
PARETO – Slow to begin.
