RACE 1: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW MAIDEN PLATE 2406 M

KALAMIA KING – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
OBSTRUCTIONIST (NZ) – Made the crossing at the 1800m awkwardly.

RACE 2: LADBROKES THOMO & CO TOP 10 MAIDEN PLATE 1600 M

CAPTAIN INSANO – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped EFFIE'S JOY.
 
CHICAGO KING – When asked to comment on the performance of CHICAGO KING, Jockey J. Lloyd stated that in his opinion the gelding proved disappointing and may appreciate distances shorter than that of today’s event.
 
HEROIC REBEL– Tightened on jumping away.
 
LAUNCHER – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
THE IMMORTALS - Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, in particular settling at the rear of the field, which was against THE IMMORTALS recent racing pattern,  Jockey C. Eaton advised that after attempting to ride forward in the early stages, she was aware of speed shown by a number of runners to her inside and rather than  being caught wide, she elected to restrain and take up a position closer to the inside running rail near the 1200m.
 
EFFIE'S JOY – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Over-raced in the middle stages
 
RACE 3: CARMEL SCANLAN MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP         1200 M

HATCHET – Began awkwardly. Jockey K. Wilson- Taylor, the rider of HATCHET, was reminded of his obligations to fully test his mounts to the finishing line.
 
ZOUMETEOR – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m, improved onto heels and had to be severely restrained. Jockey D. Moor reported at scale that his mount over-raced early.
 

RACE 4: PINK RIBBON RACEWEEK QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1200 M

TORO CHASE – Bumped SILVER SMASH on jumping away. Raced greenly near the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the winning post had to be steadied to avoid the heels of METAL MAN, which shifted out abruptly. Jockey T. Brooker reported that her mount was inclined to lay in throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
METAL MAN – Bumped SILVER SMASH on jumping away. Raced greenly near the 1000m. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m. Raced very greenly over the final 100m. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning would now be placed on the gelding in relation to its racing manners.
 
MISTER MIGHTY – Began very awkwardly. Raced greenly near the 1000m.
 
TEDDY TOO CHEAP -Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m, raced greenly when placed in restricted room to the inside of ON POINT PIXIE. Apprentice C. Baker reported at scale that TEDDY TOO CHEAP raced very greenly between the 800m and 600m.
 
ON POINT PIXIE – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, the saddle slipped backwards on the filly, placing its rider at some disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
Near the 1000m, steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of TORO CHASE.
 
SILVER SMASH – Hampered on jumping away.
 
MISHANI LETHAL – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the early stages whilst being restrained in an attempt to secure cover.


RACE 5: NOLAN PRIVATE SELECTION QTIS 3YO & 4YO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1200 M

BOLLINGER MISS – Slow into stride.
 
GRAMMAR LAD – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GOLDEN CROSS – Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 200m, when weakening, had to be eased to avoid the heels of GRAMMAR LAD, which shifted in under riding. Jockey J. Lloyd the rider of GRAMMAR LAD was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for shifting ground when insufficiently clear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to the right hindleg.
 
BREEZIN' – Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied near the 800m when GOLDEN CROSS shifted in. Jockey L. Dempsey the rider of GOLDEN CROSS was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for shifting ground when insufficiently clear.
 
TAKE A BOW – Near the 1000m had to be eased from the heels of BREEZIN'.
 
WAKU WAKU – Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 300m. Jockey R. Stewart advised connections to consider the application of blinkers to the mares gear next start. Trainers representative T. Pollard confirmed that the stable would consider the addition of blinkers to WAKU WAKU next start.
 
SOLIDUDE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.


RACE 6: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS ON SALE NOW CLASS 1 HANDICAP   1000 M

KEENAN – Began awkwardly and bumped ZARIPPA.
 
MAIKROW – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
INTRUDER – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
LARADO – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start. Jockey D. Moor reported that in his opinion the gelding would have appreciated the faster tempo set in the middle stages of the event, however, was not entirely disappointed with its finishing efforts considering it was LARADO’s second start.
 
ZARIPPA – Began awkwardly and was bumped by KEENAN.
 
STARSARISE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 

RACE 7: U&U RECRUITMENT CLASS 2 HANDICAP         1400 M

CHAMIERRO – Bumped with RICKYTHESTEAMBOAT at the start. Inconvenienced and carried wider near the 1000m when LUCIFER'S WAY shifted out. Jockey G. Cartwright the rider of LUCIFER'S WAY was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) and advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Shifted in under riding approaching the winning post. Jockey J. Huxtable was advised to stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
 
LUCIFER'S WAY - A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress. Trainers representative for the Vandyke stable was advised to report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent.
 
ECCLESTONE – Began very awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RICKYTHESTEAMBOAT.
 
HE'S FOR THE GIRLS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn until near the 300m. Jockey J. Murphy reported at scale that HE’S FOR THE GIRLS over-raced for the majority.
 
SOUTH SEA – Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of HE'S FOR THE GIRLS which shifted out and away from COOL RUNNING, which shifted out under riding after being corrected by its rider for laying in. Jockey J. Murphy the rider of HE’S FOR THE GIRLS and Apprentice T. Fenlon the rider of COOL RUNNING were both severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Jockey S. Cormack reported at scale that SOUTH SEA hung in for the majority of the event.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FIFTH FORCE – Raced in restricted room approaching the finishing line to the inside of CHAMIERRO. Jockey J. Huxtable the rider of CHAMIERRO was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
RICKYTHESTEAMBOAT – Hampered at the start and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion. Trainer G. Taylor was advised RICKYTHESTEAMBOAT would be stood down from racing under AR79 (4) for 3 months and must officially trial, jump out or gallop 1000m satisfactorily, in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.
 
COOL RUNNING – Over-raced near the 1000m.
 
READY TO IGNITE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages.
 

RACE 8: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP    1820 M

HAZEY HILL – Shifted in under pressure at the 400m and brushed the running rail.
 
ROAD TO PARADISE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Disappointed for a run near the 300m and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running. Near the 100m, laid in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of VICTORY FLAME and when being directed outwards, then became awkwardly placed at the heels of EVELYN MAY (NZ) and had to be steadied. Stewards questioned Jockey D. Moor regarding the riding of the mare in the home straight. Jockey D. Moor advised Stewards that initially he was hoping to secure clear running to the outside of EVELYN MAY (NZ) in the early stage of the straight however was unable to do so when LOYALTY COUNTS held its racing line and as a consequence, he was obliged to shift inwards to secure clear running. He further added that at a point approaching the 100m his mount had steadily been making ground and when looking to secure clear running between VICTORY FLAME and EVELYN MAY (NZ) his mount over-reacted to his outward movement away from VICTORY FLAME and as a consequence became unbalanced and lost ground. He further added that the mare raced somewhat greenly in the home straight and would derive benefit from the racing experience. Stewards noted his comment.
 
WHISKEY TOWER (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative for the Vandyke stable was advised to report back on the condition of the mare in the days subsequent.
 
SECURITY ADVISOR – Raced wide.
 
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Slow to begin.
