OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – G. Goold
Stewards – P. Zimmermann, S. Coulthard, K. Lemay-Robbins, D. McMahon, O. Legg, T. Hendy.

GENERAL
As Jockey L. Dempsey was ill and unable to ride at today’s meeting, he was subsequently replaced as per the race day summary. L. Dempsey was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming.

RACE 1: XXXX GOLD MAIDEN PLATE 1600 M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey R. Maloney rider of TULONG (2nd place) after viewing the films lodged a protest against 1st place getter WILY JACK ridden by C. Graham alleging interference near the 100m. Stewards after hearing evidence from all parties and on review of the official films, found that near the 100m, TULONG commenced to improve to the inside of HARD AS BROCK and was then momentarily hampered when WILY JACK laid out before being corrected by its rider. When considering the interference, the official margin between both horses and the way both horses finished the event, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that if the interference had not occurred, TULONG would have finished in front of WILY JACK and therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers.

AVERRED – Bumped on jumping, shifted in and lost ground.

BLACK ASSASSIN – Slow to begin. Near the 1200m, checked from the heels of TULONG and lost its rightful running. Jockey J. Huxtable rider of BATE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 1200m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TULONG, taking that runner inwards, tightening the running of BLACK ASSASSIN obliging its rider to check his mount and lose its rightful running. Jockey J. Huxtable’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 26/10/2025 up to and including midnight 3/11/2025. J. Huxtable was advised of his rights to appeal. Improved onto heels near the 900m and shifted wider. Eased down over the final 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

TULONG – Bumped on jumping, shifted in and lost ground. Near the 1200m was taken inwards when awkwardly placed at the heels of BATE which shifted in. WILY JACK – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m before being corrected by its rider. Jockey C. McLennan was advised that ROYAL CHARGE would not be permitted to start at a metropolitan race meeting until the geldings form improves.
