SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Trainer J. Morris reported MR CONSPIRACY had bled bilaterally (first occasion). Trainer J. Morris was advised pursuant to AR 79(4), MR CONSPIRACY shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward prior to resuming racing.
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 9: 21 VIVIAN’S EXPRESS – D. Thornton +0.5kg (53kg)
Race 1: SEASON GREETINGS FROM BRC BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1200 METRES)
INFLUENTIAL – Raced wide for the majority.
UNSTOPABULL – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1000m, commenced to over race whilst being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. After being unable to obtain cover, settled in a three wide position for the remainder of the event.
CHEVAL CHIC – Bumped with FIRST EMPIRE at the start. When questioned regarding CHEVAL CHIC racing further forward, Apprentice J. Williams stated after beginning well from the inside barrier and being first up today with the addition of blinkers, he found himself racing further forward.
ACAPPELLA SUN – Brushed at the start with THATS ARCHIES GIRL. Passing 1000m commenced to over race when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover.
JOPPA LANE – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority.
BLUEPINOT – Connections advised a change of tactics; to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
MOSCOW CIRCUS – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Jones stated her mount failed to settle at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
THATS ARCHIES GIRL – Began awkwardly and brushed with ACAPPELLA SUN.
BENGAL DIAMOND – Slow to begin. Obliged to steady passing the 200m when racing in restricted room whilst weakening.
FIRST EMPIRE – Bumped with CHEVAL CHIC at the start.
Race 2: NOVA 106.9 BENCHMARK 78 Handicap__________ (2400 METRES)
SUN WORSHIPPER – Connections advised a change of tactics; to settle further forward if circumstances permit. Led. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice J. Franklin stated in his opinion the mare was not suited to leading and weakened noticeably when placed under pressure. Trainer M. Kropp was reminded of his obligations pursuant to AR 100(1)(b) surrounding notifications in relation to changed riding instructions being declared 30 minutes prior to race start.
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Brushed with DILLIAN (IRE) at the start. Laid in on straightening and became awkwardly placed on the heels of SUN WORSHIPPER.
DILLIAN (IRE) – Brushed with TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Du Plessis stated the gelding began awkwardly and when asked for an effort near the 800m, put in an awkward stride and had concerns with its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg and was subsequently treated by the on-course veterinarian. Co-Trainer W. Hulbert was advised DILLIAN (IRE) would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
TAJAWAL (IRE) – Jockey R. Maloney reported in his opinion, the gelding failed to run out todays distance of 2400m.
FARWEST – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position nearer the rail. Jockey D. Turner dropped his inside rein passing the 300m.
GOOD PHILLY – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn from the 800m. Continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
AUTUNNO – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Dolan could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Chatterton was advised AUTUNNO would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming (poor performance).
Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap _________(1600 METRES)
CELESTIAL FURY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Leaving 1100m, had to be steadied when tightened for room by DIAMOND EPIC which improved into a run to the inside of CARPACCIO which shifted out whilst over racing before shifting back in while insufficiently clear. Apprentice J. McMurray was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
FOUR ACE – Raced wide for the majority. Checked passing the 250m when CARPACCIO (App J. McMurray) shifted in. Apprentice J. McMurray rider of CARPACCIO pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 250m, he allowed his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of FOUR ACE causing that runner to check and lose rightful running. Apprentice J. McMurray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days, commencing Wednesday 31 December 2025 to Saturday 10 January 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
EXPECTANT – Over raced in the middle stages.
ECLAIR AWESOME – Connections advised a change of tactics; to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Raced wide for the majority.
CARPACCIO – Slow to begin. Near the 1100m, commenced to over race when being restrained to allow SPECIAL ARTIST to cross. Shortly thereafter, shifted out whilst over racing before shifting back in to a position one off the fence. Leaving the 600m, raced in restricted room for a short distance after being carried out by DIAMOND EPIC which shifted out to improve.
MIDNIGHT SPIRIT – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Maloney reported the gelding didn’t appreciate the step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
SPECIAL ARTIST – Passing the 250m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of FOUR ACE after being carried out by MIDNIGHT SPIRIT who shifted out before being corrected. R. Maloney (MIGHTNIGHT SPIRIT) was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Hampered on entering the home straight by CARPACCIO which shifted out to obtain clear running. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 4: XXXX Class 6 Handicap_______________________ (1825 METRES)
ZAPHOD (IRE) – Raced wide in the early stages.
EXPRESS PAYMENT – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Over raced in the middle stages. Hung out rounding the turn and from the 600m commenced to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice C. Vitler stated his mount hung out in the home straight and could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
NAVAL SEAL – Over raced in the middle stages.
LARRIKIN ROGUE – Slow to begin. Passing the 250m, was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
ROLLER COASTER (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
KUREDER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
MAN OF THE TOWN – Over raced in the middle stages and passing the 1200m, shifted out carrying EXPRESS PAYMENT wider. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 5: DOREEN BIRD BENCHMARK 85 Handicap _______(1000 METRES)
The start of this race was delayed by approximately two (2) minutes due to KING JESTER requiring a gear adjustment behind the barriers.
BELEGATO (NZ) – Over raced in the middle stages. Passing the 700m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Apprentice J. Franklin stated on straightening, his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing in its finishing efforts. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Birchley was advised to report back to Stewards on the gelding’s condition in the days subsequent.
KING YOSHI – Began awkwardly. Carried in passing the 100m, and approaching the winning post, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PRE EMINENCE (App J. McMurray) which shifted in under riding. Apprentice J. McMurray rider of PRE EMINENCE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that over the final 100m, he allowed his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of KING YOSHI causing that runner to take hold to avoid PRE EMINENCE’S HEELS and lost its rightful running. Apprentice J. McMurray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days, to be served concurrently with the suspension in Race 3. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
PRE EMINENCE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Passing the 50m, Apprentice J. McMurray was obliged to straighten his mount before continuing to shift in under riding.
ZOUBABY – Began awkwardly.
KING JESTER – As Jockey J. Bayliss was unable to make weight, he was replaced by Jockey K. Zechner. Jockey J. Bayliss was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was to be overweight.
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS B.J. MCLACHLAN STAKES _____(1200 METRES)
TORNADO VALLEY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
ZIP LOCK – Began awkwardly.
KICKUP ROCKY – Began awkwardly.
MAGRITTE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1100m when being restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field, became awkwardly placed on the heels of REMEMBRALL. Over raced in the middle stages.
REMEMBRALL – Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier partition.
ACRODANCE – Connections advised a change of tactics; to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D. Turner stated in his opinion the filly had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. Shailer reported the filly would now be spelled.
Race 7: SEVEN MEMBERS MILE _______________________(1600 METRES)
SNITZANOVA – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey E. Brown stated after being trapped wide, over-raced throughout, failed to settle and weakened when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ENCODER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
DEMON DARB – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift wider to obtain clear running.
MISS JOELENE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TORABELLA – Began awkwardly.
THAT'S MOLLY – Slow to begin and lost significant ground.
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS FALVELON__________________ (1200 METRES)
HIDDEN WEALTH – Shifted in at the start.
FAR TOO EASY – Began awkwardly.
PAYLINE – Hampered at the start.
METALART – Raced wide for the majority.
PEREILLE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out approaching the 300m to improve.
MORAVIA – Began awkwardly and bumped PAYLINE.
HE'S HEAVEN – Inconvenienced at the start. Raced wide for the majority. Shifted out in the early stages of the home straight. Passing the 300m contacted FLEETWOOD having its hindquarters turned.
FLEETWOOD – Raced wide for the majority. Hampered near the 300m when racing in restricted room between PAYLINE and HE’S HEAVEN which shifted out marginally.
COSMIC FIRE – Raced wide for the majority. When questioned about the disappointing performance, Jockey D. Thornton reported his mount had a tendency to hang throughout the event and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing with its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer B. Healey advised it is his intention for COSMIC FIRE to undergo a blood profile analysis and an endoscopic scope and will report back to Stewards on the findings in the days subsequent.
PRINCE OF BOOM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 9: LADBROKES MEGA MULTI QTIS Three-Year-Old & Four-Year-Old BENCHMARK 70 Handicap ___________________________(1200 METRES)
RAMP IT UP – Passing the 150m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of WHISPERING ROGUE and was obliged to shift in to improve.
ABENDER – Began awkwardly.
SCRIPTED – Raced wide for the majority.
BARBERRY SPUR – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room for a short distance. Passing the 800m, had to be steadied to avoid heels of WHISPERING ROGUE which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Passing the 300m, momentarily inconvenienced when VIVIAN'S EXPRESS who was carried out by SAXOBUSHI, shifted out to improve. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith reported BARBERRY SPUR bled from the near side nostril. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was advised BARBERRY SPUR must gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards pursuant to AR 79(8) prior to resuming.
ANSON BAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SAXOBUSHI – Approaching the 700m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of VIVIAN'S EXPRESS who was obliged to steady. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 300m.
WHISPERING ROGUE – Bumped with AQUATIER at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
AQUATIER – Bumped with WHISPERING ROGUE at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Jones stated the mare over raced early and failed to respond to her riding in home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be short striding in both front legs. Trainer G. Doughty was advised AQUATIER would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
ESTRONDO – Began awkwardly.
VIVIAN'S EXPRESS – Passing the 1000m, made the turn awkwardly and shifted out. Over raced in the middle stages. Passing the 800m, became awkward in its stride when racing in restricted room to the inside of BARBERRY SPUR and had to be restrained to avoid the heels of WHISPERING ROGUE (C. Graham) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. Graham rider of WHISPERING ROGUE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 700m, she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BARBERRY SPUR and as a result Jockey D. Moor had to take hold of his mount and was carried in onto VIVIAN'S EXPRESS who was crowded. Jockey C. Graham license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days, commencing midnight Saturday 27 December 2025, concluding midnight Monday 5 January 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record, and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
Race 10: U&U RECRUITMENT Class 6 Handicap__________ (1400 METRES)
SCUD – Connections advised a change of tactics; to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve.
SER JOH – Bumped with APUNTAR at the start. Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
DEEP RESPECT – Slow to begin.
EXCELLADUS – Raced wide in the early stages.
