Stewards approved the following overweight:
 
Race 4: A. Mallyon +1kg (55kg)
 
RACE 1:XXXX QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP    1400 M
 
SILKEN SALUTE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped with ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIA shortly after the start. Passing the 800m, after becoming awkwardly placed on heels, shifted out for a short distance before shifting back inwards to a position one off the rail.
 
BRUMAL – Jockey C. Graham reported at scale that BRUMAL raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

THE THORNCASTER - Over-raced in the middle stages.     
 
ZEDDICH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
 
HOLD MY HAND – Obliged to steady passing the 1200m after being crossed by ZEDDICH.

ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIA – Slow to begin. Bumped with SILKEN SALUTE (NZ) shortly after the start. Passing the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels whilst over-racing. Passing the 300m, after attempting to improve into a run to the inside of ZEDDICH,was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of ZEDDICH, which laid in before being corrected.
 
MOMOKA (NZ) - Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages. Passing the 150m was obliged to alter course and shift out to improve.
 
PIROUETTE GIRL – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 300m.


RACE 2: HEART OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP      1000 M

SURPRISE HONEY - Passing the 300m, brushed with BONFIRE SPARK. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TARPS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.        
 
BALANCE THE BOOKS – Became fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected and as a result was slow to begin. Jockey A. Jones reported that BALANCE THE BOOKS failed to travel throughout and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainers representative advised that they would report back on the condition in the days subsequent.
 
DREAM LANTERN – When asked to comment on performance, Jockey K. Wilson- Taylor reported that DREAM LANTERN raced flat throughout and proved disappointing.

BONFIRE SPARK – Began awkwardly. Passing the 300m, brushed with SURPRISE HONEY.

ALL ADORE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.


RACE 3: FRESH SELECTIONS CLASS 6 HANDICAP          1805 M

MR BUSTER (IRE) – Change of tactics – settle further forward. Ridden accordingly, settled forward of midfield. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BRINDAVAN (IRE) – Shortly after straightening, shifted out to improve into clear running.

QUEEN AIR – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, Jockey A. Jones reported that it was not her intention to lead, however after beginning well, the mare settled further forward than anticipated and commenced to over race. She further added that QUEEN AIR never settled and as a result, she elected to allow the mare to stride forward comfortably rather than be restrained.
 
MAKE A CALL – Severely hampered and raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

JENNI MOREESE – Shifted in on straightening, contacting MAKE A CALL, resulting in JENNI MOREESE having its hindquarters contacted. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIR BEVERIDGE – Shortly after straightening was carried out by BRINDAVAN (IRE) and continued to shift out.
 
MALECON – Shortly after straightening was obliged to steady when tightened when racing in restricted room between SIR BEVERIDGE which shifted out and away from, BRINDAVAN (IRE) who shifted out to improve, and MAKE A CALL, which was carried in by JENNI MOREESE. Apprentice O. Webb the rider of SIR BEVERIDGE was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a). Jockey R. Maloney the rider of BRINDAVAN (IRE) was also reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a). Apprentice C. Sutherland the rider of JENNI MOREESE was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a).
 
HOKKAIDO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of HOKKAIDO (NZ), Trainer B. Robinson reported that although finishing 9th last start, the gelding had only been beaten by 3 lengths. He further added that HOKKAIDO (NZ) had been pleasing in its work leading into today’s event and as a result was confident of a forward showing.

RACE 4: INSPIRED BUILT BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP          2406 M

ROLLER COASTER (NZ) - Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 1800m.

CLYDE– Began awkwardly. Raced wide until 1700m.

LIKEABEEL– Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Ipswich 16/04/26 and was cleared to start. Hampered on jumping away. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

PUNJABI LANDING – Slow to begin. Jockey A. Mallyon rereported that PUNJABI LANDING hung out throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
LIBERTY PARK (NZ) – Raced in restricted room for a short distance on entering the home straight.

TEWKESBURY – Slow to begin.
 
PROCHESTER (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages and passing the 50m, was obliged to stop and straighten.
 
KIRORO PEAK (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
After the running of this race, Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 4 at 1:33pm.

RACE 5: BAKER REFRIGERATION BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1600 M

CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE) – Near the 150m, shifted in under pressure.
 
CAPTAIN MAVERICK (IRE) – Leaving the 300m, was disappointed for a run when attempting to improve to the inside of CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE), becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of AMUSEANTES, and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
OCEAN ZAR – Hampered on jumping away. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of OCEAN ZAR, Trainer M. Hoysted reported that after proving disappointing first up this preparation, appreciated the step up in distance of today’s event and racing at Eagle Farm as such was confident of a forward showing today.
 
READY FOR THE TRIP – Raced wide. Momentarily inconvenienced near the 1150m when attempting to be restrained to gain cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
AMUSEANTES – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  When asked to comment on performance, Jockey V. Duric reported that in his opinion, AMUSEANTES did not run out a strong 1600m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Heathcote concurred with the comments of Jockey V. Duric and advised that AMUSEANTES would now be going for a spell.
 
IRAMA - Passing the 150m, was obliged to steady when tightened for room between DON'TCHA THINKand AMUSEANTES, which was carried in by CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE), which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice J. McMurray the rider of CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE) was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. When asked to comment on the performance of IRAMA, Jockey A. Jones reported that in her opinion, the gelding may not have appreciated the quick back up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STARBOARD – Over-raced whilst being restrained leaving the 1300m. Continued to over-race in the middle stages. Trainer W. Freedman advised Stewards that upon return to the stable, STARBOARD was found to have bled both nostrils. Trainer W. Freedman was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).  
 
GOLDEN CROSS - Raced wide throughout.


RACE 6: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP          1200 M

SPEED LEGEND – Slow to begin.         
 
BOYS NIGHT OUT – Slow to begin.
 
POCKET FULL – Near the 1000m, had to be steadied when carried inwards by CHALICE WELL.

SOOTHSAYER – Hampered on jumping away.
 
SUNSET DREAMING – Began awkwardly and shifted out.   

RUSSIAN ALLIANCE – Began awkwardly.

NOW IS THE HOUR - Shifted in on jumping away. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Jockey A Jones reported that her mount travelled well throughout the event but weakened over the final 100m. She added that being first up today, the gelding would derive benefit from todays run.
 
COSMO CENTAURUS – Near the 1000m, had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of POCKET FULL, which had to be steadied when carried inwards by CHALICE WELL, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey T. Brooker the rider of CHALICE WELL, was found guilty of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a), the particulars being that near the 1000m, she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of POCKET FULL, which was obliged to be steadied and was taken into the running line of COSMO CENTAURUS, which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey T. Brooker’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days commencing midnight 25th April and concluding midnight 6th of May 2026. Jockey T. Brooker was advised of her right of appeal. Approaching the winning post was bumped and carried wider by SOOTHSAYER, which shifted out. Apprentice J. McMurray the rider of SOOTHSAYER was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.

CHALICE WELL – Shifted out on jumping away.        


RACE 7: THE CAGE YOUTH FOUNDATION CLASS 6 PLATE          1400 M
 

BELVEDERE BOYS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) - Began awkwardly.
 
LAST COMMAND – Slow to begin.
 
TRUE TO FORM (USA) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.       
 
SULTRY SIREN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

TEN DEEP (GB) – Blundered on jumping away.
 

RACE 8: JONES & CO IGA DAYBREAK LOVER        1400 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins owing to STATE VISIT casting its near fore plate enroute to the barriers and requiring farrier attention. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
STATE VISIT - Change of tactics – settle further forward. Ridden accordingly. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.       
 
FABULANTES - Raced wide. Leaving the 200m, was bumped on a number of occasions by CALL DA VINCI. Approaching the 100m, was obliged to steady when racing in close proximity to CALL DA VINCI, which shifted out under riding. Jockey L. Dempsey the rider of CALL DA VINCI was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) and cautioned in relation to extending his arm into the running line of FABULANTES whilst using his whip.
 
CALL DA VINCI – Began awkwardly and was hampered. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of BRAVE MONARCH when attempting to improve. Leaving the 200m, raced in close proximity to FABULANTES, bumping on a number of occasions resulting in CALL DA VINCI having its hindquarters contacted and shifting out. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BRAVE MONARCH - Shifted in on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
SPECIAL ARTIST - Raced wide.           

TOBY'S TRUSTY – Hampered on jumping away.

ANOTHER CASHIE  – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

TUPAKARA - Obliged to alter course and shift out approaching the 100m in order to improve.
 
SHORTCUT – Raced wide.
 
TRUST IN THE ROCK - Raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from its offside nostril for the first occasion. Trainer D. Dobbin was advised of the provisions of AR 79(8).


RACE 9: LADBROKES ASCOT HANDICAP     1000 M
 

UNCOMMON JAMES – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
ABOUNDING– Began awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with KING KAPA.  
 
KING KAPA – Contacted heavily on jumping away, momentarily unbalancing Jockey C. Graham.
 
GOLDEN DECADE – Leaving the 800m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of PAYLINE, which shifted in and away from GOLDEN BOOM, who was carried in by UNCOMMON JAMES which shifted in.
 
SPICY MARTINI – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

UNFLINCHING – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.  
 
BATTLEFIELD – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that BATTLEFIELD over-raced throughout and failed to settle which contributed to its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B. Lockwood was advised to report back on the geldings’ condition in the subsequent days.
