GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 9: Jockey J. Collett +0.5kg (54.5kg)
RACE 1:LADBROKES STRADBROKE CALCUTTA BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
PARETO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
CONTILDA'S LOVE – Blundered on jumping away.
MERCURIAL LADY – Over-raced in the early stages whilst being restrained to secure a midfield position. Leaving the 400m, was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
WITHOUT PARALLEL – Shifted in shortly after the start.
AMORE VELOCE – When asked to comment on the performance of AMORE VELOCE, Apprentice C. Baker reported that in her opinion the mare may not have appreciated the quick back up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
GAMBINO – Began awkwardly and was then hampered. Passing the 50m, was hampered and carried in by PARETO, which shifted in under riding. Apprentice C. Sutherland, the rider of PARETO, was advised to exercise greater care and stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
TIME OF MY LIFE – Approaching the 100m, was momentarily inconvenienced, being carried wider on the track by WITHOUT PARALLEL, which laid out under pressure. Apprentice J. Newman, the rider of WITHOUT PARALLEL, was advised to exercise greater care and stop and straighten her mounts in similar circumstances.
ZOUFANI – Commenced to over-race in the middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C. Graham reported at scale that ZOUFANI hung throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration in its mouth.
HERE THE CROWD – Change of tactics – settle further forward. Ridden accordingly, settled midfield. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
CHAMPAGNE LANE - Jockey J. Collett reported at scale that CHAMPAGNE LANE proved very disappointing, failed to travel at any stage and in his opinion may not have appreciated today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer M. Hoysted stated that though CHAMPAGNE LANE had success in a maiden grade on a heavy track, in his opinion the filly is not suited to rain affected surfaces and it is his intention to continue on with CHAMPAGNE LANE ‘s preparation.
RACE 2:MORETON HIRE BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 M –
JUST FLYING – Began awkwardly. Apprentice O. Webb reported at scale that in her opinion, JUST FLYING may not have appreciated today’s heavy track conditions.
AUTUMN WINTER (IRE) – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Jockey R. Maloney reported at scale that AUTUMN WINTER weakened on straightening and that he became concerned with the gelding’s action and such, elected to ease his mount from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Following today’s disappointing performance, Trainer M. Smith was advised that AUTUMN WINTER (IRE) would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE) – Near the 400m was obliged to check and lost his when JUST FLYING shifted in under riding. Apprentice O. Webb the rider of JUST FLYING pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that leaving the 400m, she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE) and as a result CANBERRA LEGEND (IRE) has had to be checked to avoid heels. Apprentice O. Webb’s license to ride in raced was suspended for a period of 10 days commencing midnight 10th May and concluding midnight 20th May 2026. Apprentice O. Webb was advised of her right of appeal

PUNJABI LANDING – Slow to begin.
JUNE - Shifted in on jumping away.
RACE 3:XXXX SIDELINE BEER GARDEN BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000 M
Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to consider an application lodged by Trainers Representative O. Peoples to declare EN POINTE a non runner. After reviewing the footage, Stewards were able to ascertain that EN POINTE became fractious prior to the start being effected, lunging forward before jumping with the field as the start was affected. Based on the available footage, stewards were comfortably satisfied that EN POINTE was afforded a fair start and declared correct weight on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
ESJAY - Passing the 150m, was obliged to alter course and shifted in to improve into clear running.
EN POINTE – Became fractious prior to the start being effected. Apprentice O. Webb reported that EN POINTE raced flat throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
WONDEREACH – Lost its near hind plate.
STATE IN TEXAS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out rounding the turn passing the 600m.
OUTWEIGHED – Became awkward in its stride for a short distance leaving the 50m.
ALL ADORE – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
BALANCE THE BOOKS – Bumped shortly after the start.
RACE 4:MAGIC MILLIONS BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 1825 M
NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
BELVEDERE BOYS – Slow to begin.
DON DIEGO DE VEGA (FR) – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 700m by LOGAN STREET LION (NZ), which shifted out to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
JENNI MOREESE – Slow to begin. Leaving the 800m, raced in restricted room for a short distance when attempting to shift out. Momentarily inconvenienced when racing in restricted room on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Apprentice C Sutherland reported that the mare failed to settle at any stage and resented racing inside other runners.
KALUAKOI – Momentarily inconvenienced and obliged to alter course leaving the 50m by SO YOU ARE, which laid out under pressure.
CAVALRY MAN – Laid out in the middle stages approaching the 1000m.
I'M HEROIC – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
RACE 5:XXXX QTIS 3YO QUALITY HANDICAP 1300 M
ICARIAN DREAM – Apprentice T. Fenlon, in the presence of Master C. Munce, was found guilty of a charge under AR 131(b) for failing to ride her mount out fully to the finish of the event. Stewards were satisfied from the official patrol footage that Apprentice Fenlon failed to ride her mount with sufficient vigor over the concluding stages and imposed a fine of $500. In determining penalty, Stewards considered Apprentice Fenlon’s record and that they could not be comfortably satisfied her actions had cost her mount from winning the event. Apprentice Fenlon was advised of her right of appeal.
CAMELIGHT – Shifted in on jumping away and bumped QUEEN JEDDAH.
KOHLER KID – When being restrained to obtain cover leaving the 1100m, commenced to over-race for a number of strides. Continued to over-race in the middle stages. Passing the 150m, was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running and contacted ADORABLE THOUGHT on a number of occasions.
ADORABLE THOUGHT - Bumped with STATE OPERA on jumping away. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 150m, was buffeted on a number of occasions by KOHLER KID, which shifted out to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
HE'S TRU BLUE (GB) – Hampered at the start.
POWER REECE – Bumped shortly after the start. Commenced to over-race leaving the 1100m and passing the 1000m, at the point of the turn, shifted out for a short distance.
KOKATAHI (NZ) – Bumped shortly after the start.
STATE OPERA – Bumped with ADORABLE THOUGHT on jumping away. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
MAURRAQA – Change of tactics – settle further forward. Ridden accordingly – settled midfield. Bumped with HE'S TRU BLUE (GB) shortly after the start.
QUEEN JEDDAH – Buffeted between runners on jumping away. Leaving the 1100m, whilst being restrained to attempt to secure a position with cover, commenced to over-race.
RACE 6:SEVEN DALRELLO STAKES 1000 M –
SEEIAYE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Jockey A. Morgan reported at scale that SEEIAYE over-raced after being slow to begin, which in his opinion was detrimental to its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
THE NEXT EPISODE - Raced wide. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight.
BOOMTOWNS - Raced wide.
BARRACKS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 800m, had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at heels. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 300m and was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running.
WIN STAR – Began awkwardly.
JUST A DUCHESS – Jockey S. Sheargold reported at scale that JUST A DUCHESS raced flat throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PLAN OF ATTACK – Raced wide. Leaving the 200m, was hampered and became awkward in its action after had its shoulder contacted by DREAM ROCA (NZ), which attempted to improve to that runners inside.
RACE 7:TICKETMASTER QUEENSLAND GUINEAS 1600 M –
STATE VISIT – Change of tactics – settle further back. Ridden accordingly – settled midfield. Bumped on jumping away.
CALL DA VINCI – Bumped with SPECIAL ARTIST on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight before having to stop and straighten passing the 100m.
OPTIONS - Raced wide.
BINGI – Began awkwardly and bumped STATE VISIT.
SPECIAL ARTIST – Bumped with CALL DA VINCI on jumping away. Raced wide.
AUTUMN KING – Raced wide. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 100m to the inside of CALL DA VINCI which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
MR WORTHINGTON – Became awkwardly placed on heels for a short distance leaving the 1400m. Raced wide.
VANDEVELDE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1300m. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 600m.
SNITZEL DANCER – Held up for clear running leaving the 100m and as a result was unable to fully be tested over the concluding stages. Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that in his opinion SNITZEL DANCER may not have appreciated today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 8:LADBROKES VICTORY STAKES 1200 M
UNCOMMON JAMES – Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer M. Hoysted was advised UNCOMMON JAMES would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of an ECG test, before again racing.
RESERVE BANK – Became fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. RESERVE BANK was backed out and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.
PRIVATE HARRY – Jockey A. Morgan reported that his mount travelled well throughout by weakened over the concluding stages. He added that in his opinion, PRIVATE HARRY would derive fitness benefit from today’s event being first up on a heavy track. Trainers representative B. Killion stated that the stable would report back to Stewards any significant findings in the days subsequent and confirm the future racing plans of PRIVATE HARRY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
WARNIE (IRE) – Leaving the 900m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of ABOUNDING, which shifted in. Jockey V. Duric the rider of ABOUNDING pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a), the particulars being that leaving the 900m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of WARNIE (IRE) and as a result of this shift, WARNIE (IRE) has had to be checked to avoid heels. Jockey V. Duric’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, commencing midnight 2nd May and concluding midnight 10th May 2026. Jockey V. Duric was advised of his right of appeal. Held up for clear running for a short distance leaving the 300m and when attempting to shift in to obtain clear running near the 200m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of RESERVE BANK and was again forced to shift in approaching the 100m to obtain clear running.
IN FLIGHT – Jockey J. Bayliss reported at scale that he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated and that he became concerned with the mare’s action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SPLASH BACK (FR) - Raced in restricted room for a short distance shortly after the start.
RACE 9:SKY RACING BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1400 M
CHARCOALS – Over-raced in the middle stages and leaving the 800m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Over-raced in the middle stages. Lost its nearside winker near the 300m.
ZONDEE – Raced wide.
FLYING EMBERS – Raced wide.
