Stewards approved the following overweight –
 
Race 7: S. Cormack +0.5kg (56kg)
 
As Apprentice C. Sutherland was injured at trackwork he was replaced as per the race day summary. Apprentice C. Sutherland was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.
 
Following the running of Race 6, Apprentice J. Williams was examined by the Official Club Doctor and stood down for his remaining riding engagements. Apprentice J. Williams was replaced as per the race day summary and advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.
 
Race 1 - COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE                                                                                                                1200 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 mins owing to BENEFIT OF DOUBT becoming fractious in the barriers, rearing over and becoming cast. Subsequently ANDER’S DREAM, FORCE FELT and WINNING HARLOW, which were drawn adjacent, were backed out of the barriers and underwent veterinary examinations. FORCE FELT and WINNING HARLOW were cleared to start. BENEFIT OF DOUBT and ANDER’S DREAM were declared late scratchings at 12:02pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on BENEFIT OF DOUBT be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st IRANSOFAR 24c win, 28c place
2nd METAL BOSS 17c place
3rd FORCE FELT 28c place
 
Trainer M. Hoysted was advised that BENEFIT OF DOUBT would require a veterinary certificate and to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
Stewards further orderd that all bets placed on ANDER’S DREAM be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st IRANSOFAR 7c win, 9c place
2nd METAL BOSS 5c place
3rd FORCE FELT 10c place
 
Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that ANDER’S DREAM would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester and Apprentice C. Baker were examined by QAS Officials and cleared to fulfill their remaining riding engagements.
 
TIM TAM SLAM – Bumped on jumping away.
 
XTRAVAGANT JOHNNY – Shifted in on jumping away and bumped with TIM TAM SLAM. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Thompson reported that XTRAVAGANT JOHNNY was not suited to the slow tempo which in his opinion had an effect on the geldings’ finishing efforts.

IRANSOFAR – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted today, in particular settling in a leading position, Jockey D. Moor explained that it was not his intention to be forward, however, after beginning well and with little early speed shown by other runners, he elected to allow his mount to travel comfortably and settled outside of the lead.

MOET LISA – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout the event.


Race 2 - XXXX GOLD QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE          1200 M
 
BAUHINIAN PRAYERS – Shifted out on jumping away and bumped SARIGAN. Bumped on a number of occasions in the middle stages when ZOUS A CHANCE shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DIAMOND IMPACT – Jockey N. Tomizawa was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(c) for use of the whip when his mount was out of contention.

FLYING RETURN – Slow to begin.

HE'S WORTHY - Approaching the 900m, tightened for room and had to be steadied.

THREEEYEDWITCH – Approaching the 900m, tightened for room and had to be steadied when SARIGAN shifted in when not clear. Jockey M. Du Plessis the rider of SARIGAN was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.

ZOUS A CHANCE - Over-raced at the heels of THREEEYEDWITCH approaching the 800m and continued to do so until being checked near the 700m.
 
EXCEED THE SALE – Bumped on jumping away. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

ISKENDERUN (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping away and bumped EXCEED THE SALE.
 
SARIGAN – Bumped on jumping away. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that from the wide barrier, he elected to allow his mount to travel forward and, in his opinion, the filly over-raced, which had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts. Co. Trainer C. Munce advised that it was the likely intention that the filly would now be sent for a spell.


Race 3 - MEKKA RACEDAY ON SALE NOW MAIDEN HANDICAP   1000 M
 
MONEY MAESTRO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer D. Bell was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).  
 
SOLVENT – Shifted in on jumping away.         

SUPER LUCK DRAGON (NZ) – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced greenly throughout and hung out rounding the home turn. Apprentice J. Williams, in the presence of Apprentice Mentor S. Scriven, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height on five occasions. Apprentice J. Williams’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 1st August and concluding midnight 8th August 2026. Apprentice J. Williams was advised of his right of appeal.
 
SECRET SUSPICION – Raced greenly throughout and laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to have to stop and straighten on several occasions.
 
COOL THOUGHTS – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
PRIDE OF NATIONS – Slow to begin.   


Race 4 - SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE          1000 M
 
SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, despite the efforts of its rider. Co. Trainer C. Munce was advised that a warning would now be placed on the gelding in relation to its racing manners. Over-raced in the middle stages.

VEOMAS (NZ) – Jockey D. Moor reported at scale that VEOMAS (NZ) was inclined to over-race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Lot its off-hind plate.
 
AGADOO – Severely checked at the start and tightened for room when SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS shifted in abruptly. Jockey A. Allen dropped his nearside rein over the concluding stages.
 
CERETTI – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

HARU – Severely checked at the start when tightened for room by SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS, which shifted in abruptly. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Thompson stated that he received significant interference on jumping away which may have had an effect on the filly’s overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
LIPIZZANER – Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 200m. Apprentice J. Williams pleaded guilty and was fined $200 pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finishing line.

Race 5 - LADBROKES BLACKBOOK BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1800 M
 
ZAMBEZI KHAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, in particular settling in the lead, Apprentice C. Bellamy reported that her instructions were to settle in a handy or midfield position, however, after beginning awkwardly and losing ground, she elected to ride her mount positively from the wide barrier to improve and then elected to allow ZAMBEZI KHAN (NZ) to travel comfortably and settle in a leading position. Trainer T. Cowan confirmed the instructions given.
 
MISTRESSOFILLUSION (IRE) – Became fractious in the mounting yard and contacted the rail. Subsequently underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Unable to be ridden to the finishing line as ZAHER (NZ) shifted into the running line of MISTRESSOFILLUSION (IRE) over the concluding stages.
 
ZAHER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
NATOYA (NZ) – Momentarily held up on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to secure clear running.

BARCELO – Connections advised a change of tactics – attempt to settle in a leading position. Ridden accordingly – settled outside of the lead.
 
TECHNA – Slow to begin. Shifted wider from the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
SEERESS - Became fractious in the mounting yard and contacted the rail. Subsequently underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.


Race 6 - JACE MCMURRAY BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP          1200 M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr. C. Munce, the Co. Trainer of the 2nd placed OBEROI PRINCESS (T. Fenlon)  against 1st placed MEAN APPROACH (J. Williams), alleging interference leaving the 250m. Stewards, after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, found that at a point leaving the 300m, after having been held up at the heels of MEAN APPROACH, OBEROI PRINCESS was directed out in an attempt to secure clear running. Whilst being maneuvered, MEAN APPROACH commenced to shift out and whilst not dictating the line of OBEROI PRINCESS caused OBEROI PRINCESS to shift further to secure clear running. Stewards were not satisfied that this constituted interference as this was the decision of Jockey T. Fenlon to shift to secure clear running and therefore were satisfied to dismiss the protest and correct weight given on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
MEAN APPROACH – Apprentice J. Williams, in the presence of Apprentice Mentor S. Scriven pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height on seven occasions. Apprentice J. Williams’ license to ride in races was suspend for a period of 10 days to be served concurrently with the penalty from Race 3 commencing midnight 1st August and concluding midnight 11th August 2026. Apprentice J. Williams was advised of his right of appeal.
 
SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice F. Sandkuhl reported that after beginning only fairly and settling with cover, her mount commenced to over-race, which in her opinion, may have had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts.
 
FREELAND – Slow to begin.
 
OBEROI PRINCESS - Jockey T. Fenlon pleaded guilty and was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using her whip above shoulder height on six occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame on its near foreleg which was treated on track before being transported back to the stables. Co. Trainer C. Munce was advised that a veterinary certificate and official trial would be required prior to racing again.

Race 7 - BEN THOMPSON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP   1600 M
 
CRUSADER VOYAGE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to its near hindleg.
 
GIAPPONESE – Over-raced in the middle stages.

SWAG - Began awkwardly.
 
BON RIVIERE - Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.  
 
MISHANI UNDERCOVER – Began awkwardly.
 
SPOT THE AUSSIE - Held up rounding the home turn.


Race 8 - TONY GOLLAN BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP          1400 M
 
ALDOLFITO – Bumped with TRAPEDO on jumping away.
 
PURE ALPHA (NZ) – Inclined to hang out near the 700m became awkward in its action and lost ground. Continued to hang out from that point onwards. After improving inside runners in the home straight, was placed in restricted room leaving the 200m and became very unbalanced and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative C. Cavanagh was advised that a warning would now be placed on the gelding in relation to its racing manners.
 
GAMBINO – Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 200m.
 
OUR SMOKESHOW (NZ) – Jockey M. Rodd reported that his mount hung out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

TRAPEDO – Bumped with ALDOLFITO on jumping away.
 
MELDUBIOUS – Lost its near fore plate.

ARAMINTA – Slow to begin.


Race 9 - FAREWELL KIM KELLY CLASS 1 HANDICAP          1600 M
 
CRYPTO MAGIC – Shifted out shortly after jumping away. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event.
 
ICONIFY - Hampered shortly after jumping away, resulting in Apprentice L. Martyn becoming momentarily unbalanced in the saddle and as a result was slow into stride. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until leaving the 300m. Apprentice L. Martyn was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
HARD AS BROK -   Apprentice R. Thorburn reported at scale that his mount travelled well until asked for an effort at the top of the straight but proved disappointing from that point onwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that HARD AS BROK would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
DEVINE SQUIRE (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages whilst being restrained to obtain a position with cover.

YOU ARE MIND – Whilst weakening in the home straight, was tightened for room near the 150m when LOVE REBEL shifted ground. Apprentice J. McMurray reported at scale that his mount raced greenly throughout.

RAINBOW GLITTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Ipswich 24/07/26 and was cleared to start. Hampered shortly after jumping away and lost ground.

MISSING BOUNDARIES – Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
