Race 7: NAILS MURPHY - Trainers representative for C. Maher Racing advised that following the disappointing performance, NAILS MURPHY underwent an extensive examination, including blood sampling and an endoscope by the stable veterinarian, which revealed mucous in the geldings’ upper airways. He further added that NAILS MUPRHY is now being treated and it is the intention of the stable to continue with the gelding’s preparation once fully recovered. Stewards advised the stable that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.

Race 8: ISSY’S STARS - Trainers representative for K Lees Racing advised that following the mares’ performance, it would now be sent for a spell.

Race 1 - BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD PLATE          1000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins owing to VENUS INVICTA being difficult to load.
 
HIGHWIRE QUEEN - Hampered shortly after the start. Laid in over the concluding stages.

MISHANI JAZZ – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Apprentice A. Roper reported that the filly raced greenly throughout and in her opinion, would derive benefit from racing today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 

MISHANI KIMITSU – Shifted in at the start.

MISHANI TYZONE – Hampered shortly after the start.


Race 2 - THE GIBSON BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
The start of this event was delayed owing to METAPHORICALLY shying, dislodging its rider enroute to the barriers and galloping for some distance before being recaptured. Subsequently METAPHORICALLY was declared a late scratching at 12:27pm on Stewards orders. Trainer J. Dunn was advised that a warning would now be placed on METAPHORICALLY in relation to its pre-race manners. Apprentice B. Youngberry was examined by QAS Officials and transported to hospital for further assessment. Apprentice B. Youngberry was advised that a medical certificate and cognitive test would be required prior to riding again.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on STREET GLORY be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st BAT OUT OF HELL 27c win, 15c place
2nd LITTLE BEGINNINGS 25c place
3rd SUPERALLOY 21c place
 
LITTLE BEGINNINGS – Shifted in at the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

CHIEF IN CHARGE – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 350m, laid in and became awkwardly placed on the heels of SUPERALLOY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

BAT OUT OF HELL – Blundered on jumping away.

KICK ON COMMAND – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after resuming from an extended spell and was cleared to start. Over-raced in the early stages.

KINGDOM UNDERSIEGE – Began awkwardly, momentarily unbalancing its rider. Over-raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

BOONDOCKS – Began awkwardly and bumped CHIEF IN CHARGE. Over-raced in the middle stages and leaving the 500m, was obliged to ease after improving onto heels.


Race 3 - SKY RACING CLASS 3 HANDICAP   1200 M

DARK ARTS – Slow to begin. Leaving the 200m, was obliged to alter course and shift out to improve.
 
DR FARTHING – Shifted in at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Thompson reported that the gelding failed to respond when asked for an effort and proved disappointing. He further added that in his opinion, DR FARTHING may appreciate distances shorter than that of today’s event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. Webster reported that it is his intention to drop DR FARTHING back in distance and would advise Stewards of the condition of the gelding in the subsequent days.
 
CHAMPAGNE LANE – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice F. Sandkuhl reported that the mare was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Hoysted reported that in his opinion CHAMPAGNE LANE may not have appreciated today’s track conditions and would advise Stewards of any significant findings in the subsequent days.

VANESSI - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame on its near foreleg. Trainers’ representative B. Killion was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.

BLANTONS RUN – Shifted in at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
EXUBERANCE (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages and passing the 1000m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of VANESSI. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 4 - DRINKWISE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP          1300 M
 
ASHKIRK - Began awkwardly and bumped DRAGON MAGIC. Leaving the 800m, improved onto the heels of O'REILLYS FLIGHT before shifting out for a short distance.

DRAGON MAGIC – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 200m, was obliged to alter course and shift out to improve into clear running.         
 
GRAFFITUDE – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

RULE THE NIGHT – Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding made respiratory noises on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Hoysted advised that it was his intention to have the stable veterinarian to further examine the gelding and would provide the results of an endoscope.
 
O'REILLYS FLIGHT – Commenced to over-race when being crossed leaving the 800m. Continued to over-race in the middle stages.

I'M NOT HERE – Jockey T. Fenlon reported that the filly travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however, was disappointing in its finishing efforts. She further added that in her opinion, I'M NOT HERE may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Co. Trainer C. Munce advised Stewards that consideration would be placed in spelling the filly.


Race 5 - XXXX BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP   1800 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes after KAIZAD contacted the front barrier partition. Subsequently, was backed out, underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to start.
 
ZWEIG (IRE) – Got its head up as the start was effected.
 
BARBRAY – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BECAMO – Commenced to over-race leaving the 900m and shifted to a three wide position for the remainder of the event.
 
BARCELO - Connections advised of a change of tactics in that BARCELO would attempt to settle further back with cover. Settled in a forward position. Was disappointed, when attempting to shift out to improve passing the 700m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.

GALWAY FLYER – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Thompson reported that in his opinion, the gelding would be better suited to distances further than that of todays event and would derive benefit from racing today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainers representative B. Killion reported that in his opinion GALWAY FLYER may appreciate tracks with more give in them and would advise Stewards of any significant findings in the days subsequent.   

Race 6 - QA BUILD TRADIES ON THE TURF BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         1000 M
 
HE'S HEAVEN – Raced wide.

BRING ME KASH – Shifted in at the start.
 
KING OF POP – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 200m, became awkwardly placed on heels for a number of strides.

BONDED AFFAIR – Hampered and lost ground shortly after the start. Placed in restricted room on entering the home straight by PORT ERIN, which was shifting out to improve.
 
GET READY LASS – Raced wide.         

SHOWS A SIGN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

IMPERVIOUS – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey C. Graham reported that the mare was first up, came under pressure early and peaked on its run near the 200m. She further added that in her opinion, IMPERVIOUS would derive benefit from racing today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.


Race 7 - CBT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP   1000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to ANOTHER CHAMPERS being difficult to load. Trainer S. Kenrick was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
LUCKY PAT – Bumped at the start.

COOL GENT – Hampered shortly after jumping away.
 
BOOMELLI – Bumped at the start.

ESPERANZA - Had difficulty obtaining clear running leaving the 400m.
 
OLIVONI - Shifted in at the start. Over-raced in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Harley had no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
VINCLEY – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D. Moor reported that the colt over-raced throughout the event, which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

ANOTHER CHAMPERS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
REMEMBRALL – Hampered at the start.

FLARESSENCE – Carried in at the start.

PIERANTES – Became fractious leaving the mounting yard and contacted the rail. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped LUCKY PAT and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey T. Marshall reported that the filly became agitated enroute to the barriers, which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.


Race 8 - LADBROKES MORE ON TOTE CLASS 6 HANDICAP          1600 M
 
GOLDEN CROSS – Hampered at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  Trainer B. Dais reported that it was his intention to continue with the preparation of the gelding and would report back any significant findings in the subsequent days.

BLUEPINOT – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
ROCK HARD LOVE – Shifted out at the start.

DUSTY BAY – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied leaving the 1400m after improving onto heels.   

SIR WINNIE – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Jones reported that in her opinion the gelding would derive benefit from racing today. A post-race veterinary revealed examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 9 - CRICKS HIGHWAY QUEENSLAND CUP LISTED          2400 M

The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins owing to ARTFUL GIRL being resaddled upon arrival at the barriers.
 
SUN WORSHIPPER – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
AMPLIFY – Raced wide until the 1600m.
 
FELIX THE SCAT – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out in the early part of the home straight.

CHILLAXING (IRE) – Leaving the 800m was disappointed for a run when attempting to shift out to improve.

TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Lost its near fore plate.

DIAMOND SHOW (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.


Race 10 - TATTERSALL'S MEMBERS CUP LISTED  1400 M
 
ESJAY - Leaving the 1200m, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SPACE TRACKER (IRE), which shifted in and away from HELL. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WARBY – Slow to begin.

KINTYRE – Shifted in at the start.

 

HELL - Apprentice E. Lang pleaded guilty and was fined $1000 pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using her whip above shoulder height. In determining penalty, Stewards considered that this is the 8th time Apprentice E. Lang has breeched this rule in the past 12 months. Apprentice E. Lang was advised of her right to appeal.

BOOM TORQUE – Lost its near hind plate.

FABULANTES – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied after improving onto the heels off BOOM TORQUE passing the 1200m. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey T. Marshall reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today’s track conditions, however, was not overly disappointed with FABULANTES efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

THE DROVER - Slow to begin.
 
ZULEIKA - Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey B. Thompson reported that after beginning awkwardly, he was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated, however was not overly disappointed with ZULEIKA’s overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
NO DRAMA (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout.
