GENERAL
Prior to the running of race one, Stewards conducted a routine inspection of the track and identified a number of small ants nests in the vicinity of the 800m. A group of senior riders were asked to assess the area. Following their inspection, the riders raised no concerns with the condition or stability of the track, as the nests were shallow and did not extend deep into the surface. All riders were satisfied that the track was safe to race.
RACE 1: GITSHAM RACING QTIS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1030m)

SMACKEROONY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Upon returning to scale, jockey Hannah Phillips stated that her mount was unable to obtain a positive position early, which in her opinion proved detrimental to the gelding’s overall chances as it was not her intentions to be positioned in the back-half of the field in the early stages.
GOOSE STEP – Raced wide in the early stages.
ROCKY BLONDE – Raced wide throughout. Had to switch outwards and around the heels of SMACKEROONY to maintain clear racing room when that runner laid inwards near the 50m. Jockey Hannah Phillips was reminded of her obligations to straighten her mounts when shifting ground in future circumstances.
BRAIDWOOD PRINCE – When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice Erin Molloy stated that BRAIDWOOD PRINCE did not handle the track conditions in today’s event and resented the kick back throughout, therefore unable to be fully tested.
RACE 2: EIDSVOLD LIVESTOCK & PROPERTY Class B Handicap (1200m)
DUKE OF LANCASTER – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide from a point near the 600m in an attempt to improve. Carried wider on the track by MUSSEL LINES approaching the 400m when that runner shifted outwards when improving.

Raced wide in the early stages before electing to push forward to obtain a position outside the lead near the 900m and then commenced to overrace thereafter. Hung inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight and raced in restricted room over the final stages.
MOORABINDA MICK – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance in comparison to its recent start, trainer Kym Afford stated that two starts back, MOORABINDA MICK was only beaten the short margin of one length over 1500m, and added that the gelding had recovered well in the short lead up from its most recent start at Gatton on the 25th September and connections were expecting a more forward showing in today’s event as they believed that the gelding was racing over a more suited race distance.
