Race 1: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARED #BETONBIRDSVILLE CLASS 2 PLATE - 1000M
 
JELLYBEAN – Declared a late scratching at 9.25am on veterinary advice as sustained an injury to its off foreleg. Trainer G. Bell advised that the mare would now be sent for a spell. –
 
GENERAL SIDEREUS – Slow to begin. Laid in throughout the event brushing the running rail on a number of occasions.
DEUS – Passing the 200m was slightly inconvenienced by WAY TOO SASSY which laid out.
IRON JAKE – Began awkwardly. Post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore fetlock. Trainer P O’Toole was advised that a veterinary clearance would need to be provided to Stewards prior to racing again.
SHADEA LADY – Raced three wide in the early stages.
WAY TOO SASSY – Passing the 200m laid out slightly inconveniencing DEUS.

Race 2:  PRIME PLUMBING MAIDEN PLATE - 1100m
 
HIP HIP – Began awkwardly and bumped TINARAU MAUBOY.
 
TINARAU MAUBOY – Slow to begin and was then bumped by HIP HIP.
 
SOME SUNNYDAY – Slow to begin and lost significant ground.
 
SOME FAIRY SONG – Raced three wide in a rearward position throughout.
 
TRES BON – Raced wide rounding the home turn and the laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
GREETINGS – Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. When passing the winning post, laid in and brushed the inside running rail and became unbalanced.
 
 
 
Race 3:  EAGLESHAMS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of STAR FROM HEAVEN placed second by the judge to view the photo finish image for first. After doing so they were satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.
 
JABBS – Slow to begin.
 
SIRIUS WITNESS – Laid in over the final 150m.
 
SNIP N DRIFT – Began awkwardly and then raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
QUADACUS – Bumped on jumping.
 
SCENTS OF HENRY – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Hung in throughout proving difficult to ride. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R Little was advised that the gelding would need to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
FAY ELEMENT – Laid in shortly after the start. Passing the 900m commenced to overrace when being restrained to obtain cover and became awkwardly placed at the heels of BOINGO which shifted in. Approaching the 100m had to alter course to the outside to avoid the heels of SIRIUS WITNESS which laid in.
 
BOINGO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SNOOZE - Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
 
 
 
 
STAR FROM HEAVEN – Slow into stride.
 
CLEARWATER – Slow into stride and then raced five wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 4:  DIAMOND LAWN & GARDEN AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1300m
 
ZATORIO – Passing the 1100m commenced to overrace and shifted out to avoid heels.
 
HUNTER ISLAND – Passing the 110m was inconvenienced by ZATORIO which shifted out to avoid heels.
 
FAR NORTH – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
KAKAKENNY – Slow into stride.
 
HOT TEMPO – Reared as start was effected and lost ground and then raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
TRIPLE JEOPARDY – Passing the 1100m was forced wider on the track by ZATORIO which shifted out to avoid heels and then raced three wide without cover from that point.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: C.L.A.M. AUTOMOTIVE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1615m
 
CHANGING CURRENCY – Slow to begin.
 
ATEACES – Rider accidentally dropped her whip passing the 100m.
 
SAGRE’S POINT – Returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth.
 
 
COME BY CHANCE – Rider J Lait reported that it wasn’t his intention to lead by as far as he did. He added that after being ridden forward from a wide barrier the gelding refused to settle and overraced. He further added that the addition of blinkers and the step up in distance may have had a detrimental effect on its performance today. Stewards accepted his explanation.
