From Rockhampton 28th December 2019:
Race 3 – Trainer Mr C Taylor reported that MARCHING ORDERS lost its near fore plate in running.
General
As Richie Oakford was indisposed stewards permitted the late rider changes as per the rider summary.
Following the running of race 3 Jockey Martin Hayley was found to have in his possession a mobile telephone. M Haley pleaded guilty to a charge under AR218(4)(b) and was fined $200. In determining penalty stewards took into account that the mobile was not used and this was Jockey Haleys’ first offence under this rule.
RACE 1: BECOME A MEMBER IN 2020 0-50 HANDICAP - 1000m
TEDDER EXPRESS – Hung in in the early stages. Raced wide without cover throughout.
SIXTY ONE TIGERS – Raced wide without cover throughout.
INSOLVENT – In the vicinity of the 800m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SIXTY ONE DIAMONDS who was carried in by ZORRO FEMININO which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey H English, rider of ZORRO FEMININO, was reminded of her obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
RAPTCHA’U – Slow to begin. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight
WORTH THE TIME – In the vicinity of the 900m was momentarily inconvenienced by ZORRO FEMININO which shifted in when insufficiently clear.
FAY ELEMENT – Slow to begin.
RACE 2: CENTRAL HIGHLANDS REGIONAL COUNCIL BM 65 HANDICAP - 1000m
MONO LAD – Laid out under pressure in the straight.
ZENDAYE – Raced wide throughout the event.
HAYYLER’S TARY – In the vicinity of the 100m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MONO LAD. G. Hayes, rider of MONO LAD, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Hayes’ license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, commencing midnight Saturday 4th January 2020 and expiring midnight Sunday 12th January 2020.
RACE 3: HERB & DIEDRE MILNE MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE - 1200m
MIGHTY MEERKAT – Awkward to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
CENTAUR – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
GRANDMA’S DYNAMO – Hung out throughout the event. Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
RACE 4: WOOD’S TYRE SERVICE CLASS 3 PLATE - 1200m
EARL OF FORDYCE – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
NO FINER JET – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
RACE 5: HAPPY NEW YEAR BM 45 HANDICAP - 1300m
KNUCKLE UP – Stood flatfooted at the start and as a result was slow to begin.
HARVEY’S STAR – Awkward to begin.
LUCIFER’S ANGEL – When questioned regarding the improved performance in today’s event, trainer Mr D Schultz stated that the mare failed to handle the dirt surface last start and was better suited to grass tracks. He added that LUCIFER’S ANGEL had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and was not surprised with the improved performance.
