GENERAL
Due to the extreme weather conditions today’s meeting was run under the QRIC Policy - Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat. Race start times were amended as follows:
 
Race 1: 11:00am
Race 2: 11:30am
Race 3: 12:00pm
Race 4: 12:30pm
Race 5: 1:00pm
 
Race 1: BECOME A MEMBER QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m
 
NIKSICKO – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Passing the 50m, was momentarily inconvenienced when DABILDOYA laid out, and as a result had to shift in to obtain clear racing room.
 
CHOZEN TO SIZZLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed to the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer D Rewald was advised CHOZEN TO SIZZLE would be stood down for a period of three months and must complete a satisfactory gallop over 1000m in the presence of the stewards pursuant to AR79(4).
 
DABILDOYA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Shifted in approaching the 800m, momentarily inconveniencing RUSSMUSS. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
JACK O’DIAMONDS – Jockey R McMahon was granted permission from stewards to ride his mount +0.5kg. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
RUSMUSS – Slow to begin. Laid in shortly after jumping, taking up a position on the rail. Approaching the 800m, was momentarily inconvenienced and had to steady as DABILDOYA shifted in. Jockey T Chambers was advised to exercise care in giving more room to other riders when shifting in the future.
 
I’M STROLLING – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
SUN LILY – Jockey J Missen was granted permission by stewards to ride +1kg. Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 2: THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS Class B Handicap 1000m
 
ART BY CONCORDE – Passing the 150m, elected to shift out to obtain clear running to avoid the heels of ALLELUIA.
 
ALLELUIA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
MANIFICA – Slow to begin.
 
SHEMADEMEDOIT – Was reluctant in making its way onto the course proper prior to leaving the mounting yard. Trainer C Austin was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding for its pre-race behaviour. Upon entering the track, made contact with the mounting yard fence and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
BETTER NOT BLINK – When making its way to the barriers, BETTER NOT BLINK dislodged Jockey T Brummell. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination prior to racing after galloping for some distance and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout the event. Tailed off from the remainder of the field over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections involved with BETTER NOT BLINK later reported to the stewards that the gelding was showing signs of tying up once it had cooled down following the event.
 
BOOTYFUL DIVA – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
GIRL ON TOP – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
PAST PRINCE – Jockey J Missen was granted permission from stewards to ride his mount +1kg. Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Reared on jumping, dislodging Jockey J Missen. Trainer S Kirkwood was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 3: VALE JOHN MAGUIRE OPEN Handicap 1000m  
 
AHWAHNEECHEE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ZUKAS – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
I WANNA BE A JEEP – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: RACING EASTER SATURDAY BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200m
 
SIDETRIP – Shifted out on jumping, hampering SAHAR (NZ). Raced in restricted room approaching the 800m. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
SAHAR (NZ) – Hampered on jumping by SIDETRIP.
 
KARENO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing the in the previous seven days and was passed fit to race.
 
WICKED WENCH (NZ) – Raced in restricted room approaching the 800m.
 
I AM BOLT – Hampered on jumping by SAHAR (NZ) which was carried out by SIDETRIP.
 
MISSLLEERS – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
ALL NATIVE – Approaching the 800m, had to steady to avoid heels. Raced wide throughout.
 
PERSAGA – Was slow to begin. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice Jockey O O’Donnell reported that her saddle had shifted around the 800m, placing the rider at a disadvantage and as a result was unable to fully test her mount for the remainder of the race.  
 
Race 5: PIONEER PARK Class B Handicap 1280m  
 
YUBETIDO – Hung in over the concluding stages.
 
PLAN CEE – Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
SERRATALLI – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
ROSAIRE – Shifted in on jumping, hampering MAYA’S SONG. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
KING KAI – Shifted out on jumping, hampering MAYA’S SONG.
 
MAYA’S SONG – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Hampered on jumping by ROSAIRE which shifted in and KING KAI which shifted out.
