GENERAL
Jockey Morgan Butler advised stewards that he had transport difficulties and would be unable to attend the meeting. Rider replacements are as per the race day summary.
 
Trainer K McGuire advised stewards that he had transport difficulties enroute to the race meeting, subsequently ARROGANT HEART was declared a late scratching at 10:01am.
 
Trainer P Flemming advised stewards that he had transport difficulties enroute to the race meeting, subsequently CAPTAIN FOX was declared a late scratching at 11:14am.
 
Stewards approved overweights as per the race day summary.
 
 
 
RACE 1: PIRTEK EMERALD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100M

PARPPY 'N' ME – Bumped on jumping by SCARLET HAZE when that runner shifted outwards.
 
PERFECT WORK – Shifted inwards on jumping and impeded YES LARRY.
 
YES LARRY -Began awkwardly and slow to begin. Impeded shortly after the start when PERFECT WORK shifted inwards and ANTHROPOLOGY shifted outwards. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight.
 
ANTHROPOLOGY  - Shifted outwards on jumping impeding YES LARRY. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 450m switched wider on the track in an attempt to improve. Shifted inwards under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BADLIFEDECISION – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.

SCARLET HAZE – Shifted outwards on jumping bumping PARPY ‘N’ ME. Over raced in the early stages.



RACE 2: FAIRBAIRN BAKERY EMERALD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE          1100M

BLUE ROMAN – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards shortly after. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Shifted outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

AUGUST JOE – Began awkwardly bumping SHEMAKESMENERVOUS. Inclined to lay outwards under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer L Clem stated that AUGUST JOE was afforded a freshen up since its last race start which in his view proved beneficial to the gelding’s chances. He further added that in his opinion AUGUST JOE was better placed in this event than its most recent starts.

FIGO  - Raced wide throughout.
 
PENROD – Shifted inwards on jumping impeding SHEMAKESMENERVOUS.

LADY DE VEGA – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR LAST CHANCE – Over raced in the early stages. Laid outwards rounding the home turn.

SEND THE MONEY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SHE'S GOT IT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.  Brushed with DANCING TROFFEA near the 100m.

SHE'S GOT LYRICS – Began awkwardly.
 
DANCING TROFFEA – Dipped on jumping and slow into stride as a result. Brushed with SHE’S GOT IT near the 100m.

SHEMAKESMENERVOUS – Bumped and impeded on jumping when AUGUST JOE shifted outwards and PENROD shifted inwards.

Following the running of this race upon pulling up jockey A Butler had dismounted his horse due do illness, acting under AR208(3)(b) stewards were satisfied that jockey Butler had carried the correct weight and declared correct weight. Subsequently jockey Butler was examined by QAS officers and was stood down from his remaining rides due to dehydration and heat stress. Jockey A Butler was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again.  Rider replacements are as per the race day summary.
 

RACE 3: AAA TILT TRAY TOWING RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1000M

DEVOTED DEPUTY – Raced wide throughout.
 
SIDESHOW FRANKIE – Bumped with SPITZBERG shortly after the start.

SPITZBERG - Impeded and bumped on jumping when SOUL SPIRIT shifted outwards, slow into stride as a result. Briefly held up near the 100m before switching to the inside of OFFICE POLITICS to maintain clear racing room.  

SOUL SPIRIT – Shifted outwards on jumping bumping and hampering SPITZBERG. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance apprentice A Graham stated that the gelding had travelled well in the early stages however went to the line in a dower manner and would likely derive significant fitness benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

ARROGANT HEART – Was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 10:01am after trainer K McGuire advised stewards that he had transport difficulties and would be unable to attend the meeting.

SILENT ANGEL – Apprentice J Devine was fined $100 under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance. Ms Devine was subsequently replaced by apprentice A Meisnner. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Hung inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Following the running of this race apprentice T Orr was examined by QAS officers and exhibited minor signs of dehydration. Subsequently he was stood down from his remaining light weight ride in race 6 to allow Mr Orr to rehydrate for his remaining rides.
 

RACE 4: CONVEYOR PARTNERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1280M 

START STRUTTING – Shifted outwards on jumping hampering ZIPITALIST. Raced keenly in the early stages.

ZIPITALIST – Began awkwardly and hampered on jumping by START STRUTTING and SHE SMASHES, slow into stride as a result. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance jockey N Summers stated that after beginning only fairly, she had to endure slightly more work than anticipated in the early stages. Ms Summers further added that her mount had settled well during the middle stages however when asked for an effort near the 600m, ZIPITALIST had not responded as anticipated and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
SHE SMASHES – Shifted inwards on jumping and hampered ZIPITALIST. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

LEGOLAS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

BOOM BOOM RAY - Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Near the 1200m briefly crowded when NEW LEVEL (NZ) shifted inwards. Jockey W Satherly the rider of NEW LEVEL (NZ) was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
NEW LEVEL (NZ) – Near the 1200m shifted inwards briefly crowding BOOM BOOM RAY.
 
FIFTY FIVE MUSTANG – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay outwards when under pressure in the home straight.
 
PEAKING TOM – Inclined to lay outwards under pressure in the home straight.



RACE 5: EMERALD FORD BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP          1615 M

PACKAGE – Slow into stride. Shifted wider near the 800m in an attempt to improve. Hung inwards under pressure and had to be correct on a number of occasions. A post-race veterinary at the request of the trainer failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
BE BOB ALOOLA – Near the 1500m briefly placed in restricted room when MR GREY laid inwards carrying GRUMPYWANTSATISSUE inwards. Jockey W Satherley the rider of MR GREY was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Switched wider near the 400m to maintain clear racing room. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GRUMPYWANTSATISSUE – Near the 1500m carried inwards by MR GREY which had laid inwards and briefly placed BE BOB ALOOLA in restricted room. Improved onto the heels of MICROWAVE JENNY near the 450m and had to be momentarily restrained when that runner made the bend awkwardly.
 
MR GREY – Near the 1500m laid inwards carrying GRUMPYWANTSATISSUE inwards briefly placing BE BOB ALOOLA in restricted room. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Upon entering the home straight improved onto the heels of MAKING HISTORY and had to be eased and directed inwards away from heels.
 
MAKING HISTORY - Fractious in the barriers. Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have minor laceration above the right eye.
 
SHADOW PROJECT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shortly after entering the home straight shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of MICROWAVE JENNY resulting in that runner easing and switching out across heels.

THE PROPHECY – Raced wide early. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
MICROWAVE JENNY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Made the bend awkwardly near the 450m. Shortly after entering the home straight had to ease and switch out across the heels of SHADOW PROJECT shifted inwards when insufficiently clear. Jockey R Silvera Olivera the rider of SHADOW PROJECT was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer D Micallef advised that he would likely reconsider the immediate racing future of MICROWAVE JENNY.
 

RACE 6: CORNERSTONE RISK GROUP CLASS 3 PLATE 1000M

MISSISSIPPI MORN – Shifted inwards on jumping bumping TARA I AM. Raced keenly in the early stages.

SILVER HAMMER – Carried wider near the 500m when REBELOUS RED shifted outwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left hind leg. Trainer G Bell was advised that SILVER HAMMER would require a veterinary certificate prior racing again.
 
REBELIOUS RED – Slow to begin. Improved onto the heels of AMBERINGER near the 500m and shifted outwards carrying SILVER HAMMER wider on the track.
 
REIGNING ALPHA – Brushed with MOMENT OF TRUTH on jumping.
 
AMBERINGER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped with TARA I AM upon entering the home straight. Stewards questioned apprentice A Graham in relation to the tactics adopted in particular being ridden closer to the speed than its previous starts, Ms Graham stated that it was the intention to be closer to the speed today as per the trainers instructions, given the horse was first up from a spell and had drawn a better barrier than its previous starts. Trainer A Jenkinson stated that the mare when fresh has a tendency to begin well and be closer to the speed, he further stated that in a recent jump out he was impressed with AMBERINGER’s barrier speed since coming back from a spell. Stewards noted the comments. Mr Jenkinson was reminded of his obligations under AR100 in reporting to stewards any possible tactic changes in comparison to its previous race starts.

CRYPTIC PRISM – As apprentice T Orr was stood down by QAS officers for this race, Trainer M Skillington was given the choice of available apprentice riders however elected to scratch the gelding at 1:35pm.
 
MOMENT OF TRUTH – Brushed with REIGNING ALPHA on jumping. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

TARA I AM – Trainer S Rundle was reprimanded under AR227(a) for negligence in failing to request an overweight on the filly by the prescribed time. Bumped on jumping by MISSISSIPPI MORN. Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Upon entering the home straight bumped with AMBERINGER.
 


RACE 7: FARM & CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS AND GOLD ACRES OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M

STAMPE – Slow into stride.
 
HURTLE – Bumped with INVICTUS LAD on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages.

LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Became extremely fractious in the barries, kicking out on multiple occasions and was declared a late scratching at 3:35pm by order of stewards. Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on LILLY ALLEZ (NZ) to be refunded in full and deduction to apply as follows:
 
16c the win on first placed JUKEBOX LUCY (NZ)
9c the place on first placed JUKEBOX LUCY (NZ)
13c the place on second placed INVICTUS LAD
20c the place on third placed HIGHGROUND
 
A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have cast both hind shoes and be lame in the left hindleg. Trainer R Williams was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Mr Williams was also advised that LILY ALLEZ (NZ) would be stood down from racing until the completion of a trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.
 
TAVANASIA (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
CAPTAIN FOX – Was declared a late scratching at 11:14am after trainer P Flemming advised stewards he was unable to attend today’s meeting due to transport difficulties.
 
INVICTUS LAD – Bumped with HURTLE on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

KEYBOARD  - Began awkwardly. Raced wide passing the 500m. Laid inwards when under pressure in the home straight requiring to be corrected on a number of occasions.



RACE 8: EMERALD INN RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1280 M        
 
HEY JEALOUSY – Inclined to lay outwards when under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.
 
IMPERIONESS – Inclined to lay outwards over the concluding stages.
 
LITTLE PINKER – Began awkwardly. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey R Wiggins reported that his mount was second up today and may not have appreciated the softer track conditions and would derive benefit from the run.
 
RELATED DUTY – Simultaneously as the start was effected got its head over the outside barrier partition and was slow to begin as a result.

BELLE'S BOY – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards.
 
OUR HEART THROB – Began awkwardly. In the early stages of the home straight was inclined to lay inwards. Near the 150m switched wider to maintain clear racing room.  

MASALI RAFFA – Near the 1000m commenced to over race.
