SHUGAR BEL – Slow to begin. Shortly after the finish line on pulling up, Apprentice G Leung was dislodged. App G Leung was examined by ambulance officers and cleared to fulfill his further riding engagements.

ENEMY’S DEFEATED - At the 250m had to steady whilst trying to obtain clear running.

ELUSIVENESS - Raced wide throughout.

RACE 2: LJ HOOKER CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200M

Stewards permitted FALKOR to race in blinkers today, despite this not being part of the horse’s approved gear, on the assurance of trainer A. Barnes that the appropriate gear changes had been effected of placing blinkers on the horse. Stewards will investigate this matter further with the Trainers Service Centre at a later date.

WAKE COUNTY - Declared a late scratching at 10:30am due to transport difficulties.

PUNK STAR - Slow to begin.

PICALOVA - Slow to begin

FALKOR - Began awkwardly.

MARLEE’S LUCK - Raced Wide throughout.

RATHGIBBON – Overraced from the 700m until the 600m.

SPURRED UP - When questioned in relation to the performance jockey A. Merritt stated the mare failed to respond to his hard riding in the early stages whilst endeavoring to lead the event and as a result settled further back in the field than he anticipated. Jockey Merritt added that in his opinion that was a major contributing factor to the disappointing performance and also added the mare failed to handle the tight turning track. Stewards noted the explanation.

RACE 3: MT BRISBANE CENTENNIAL CLASS 3 SET WEIGHTS - 1460m

KUTCHER – Slow to begin.

O’GRADY - At the 1200m had to be restrained when improved up onto heels.

MAKE HAY – Reared as the start was affected and lost considerable ground.

ACADANE – Slow to begin.

ALLEZ CHARLIE – Slow to begin, a short distance later was tightened for room.

SMART RULER - At the 500m had to be steadied when tightened for room when WICKED WOOD shifted out. Jockey D. Green was reprimanded for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear. Approaching the 200m was checked when HAVEN GIRL shifted out. Jockey A. Best was severely reprimanded for allowing Haven Girl to shift out when not sufficiently clear, as a result SMART RULER was inclined to hang in proving difficult to ride and went to the line without being fully tested.

WICKED WOODY - Forced wider on the home turn.

RACE 5: GRAND HOTEL/ILG RATING BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1750M

MISS EXPRESS - Slow to begin, blundered at the 1400m.

COUNT ROMANO – Began awkwardly.

KORTA - When questioned regarding his riding particularly over the concluding stages, jockey M. Dracos stated his instructions were to lead the event in doing so the gelding was caught wide and worked hard in the early and middle stages until being able to obtain the lead position. Jockey Dracos added that as a consequence of being caught wide and the fast early tempo set by another runner the gelding commenced to weaken from the 400m therefore having a detrimental effect on its ability to finish the race off as expected. The explanation was noted.
