RACE 1: PAT & MARGARET MOFFATT CLASS 2 HANDICAP 800M
BAR FLY - Slow to jump. After passing 400m blundered on two occasions of it’s own accord. Post-race vet examination revealed the mare had bled from both nostrils. As this was the second time it had bled connections were advised that the mare will now incur a lifetime ban from racing.
ISSY COMMAND – Began awkwardly.
KLEINTON KID – Raced wide throughout.
LAND OFFICE – Raced wide throughout.
MONTE LAGO – Had to be steadied at the 400m when crowded by another runner.
RACE 2: MERRY CHRISTMÄS MAIDEN PLATE 800M
CUBA ROSE – Jumped in at the start making contact with another runner. Raced greenly throughout and hung out rounding the home turn. Post-race vet examination revealed the mare to be shin sore. Trainer B Johnson advised stewards the mare would be going for a spell immediately.
BROWN LINES – Bumped by another runner on jumping and raced greenly throughout the event.
RACE 3: RAY WHITE RURAL/ESK TOOGOOLAWAH CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
Correct weight was delayed to allow the stewards to view video footage in the home straight to determine whether the second placed horse had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner. After doing so stewards declined to proceed and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.
DALIWOY BAY – Shifted in on jumping bumping another runner.
COSPY - Made contact with another runner on jumping.
MURPHY’S HUSTLER – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
MISHANI DE NIRO – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Was taken wider at the 800m by another runner. Apprentice S Alam was fined $100 for using the whip more than the permitted five times before the 100m.
GLENROCK MAX – Bumped by another runner on jumping. After passing the 800m had to steady off heels and shift wider on the track and then remained wide throughout the event.
BOAT RACE – Raced wide throughout.
JUST LIKE ERROL – Prior to the race bumped its head in the tie-up stalls. Was vetted and cleared to race. On jumping was bumped by another runner. Approaching the 250m, when tiring, shifted in crowding another runner. Apprentice M Murphy was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
CRAIGLEA SACHA – Had to be steadied at the 250m when crowded for room by another runner.
RACE 4: THE BEST COUNTRY RACING MAIDEN PLATE 1460M
GRAVITY FORCE – Slow to jump.
LET THE TIGER ROAR – Slow to jump and had to be steadied off heels shortly after the start.
HAVEN DUKE – Had to be steadied when bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
FAB’S COWBOY – Shortly after the start had to be severely checked, clipped heels and blundered, and dislodged it’s rider. Apprentice J Hodge was treated by QAS for a laceration to his right ankle. Apprentice Hodge was stood down by Ambulance officers from his remaining engagement and was advised to produce a medical certificate before riding again.
Jockey C Maund rider of WENSLEY ROAD was found guilty to a charge of careless riding whereby approximately 40 metres after the start whilst riding his mount along made insufficient effort and allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of MAKELOVENOTWAR which was forced in and take the running of FAB’S COWBOY, which clipped heels, blundered and then dislodged the rider. Rider C Maund’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period commencing midnight 27 December 2015 up until midnight 17 January 2016. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of jockey C Maund’s good record in relation to careless riding.
MAKELOVENOTWAR – Shortly after jumping was bumped and forced in by another runner.
WENSLEY ROAD – Shortly after the start shifted in bumping MAKELOVENOTWAR and taking that runner in, which then made contact with FAB’S COWBOY, which clipped heels and blundered.
RACE 5: HAPPY 60TH NEAL SCOTT RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP 1750M
ALL IN TIME – After passing the winning post on the first occasion was forced wide by another runner.
OUR PLAYDOUGH – After passing the winning post steadied off heels and shifted one-wide, forcing another runner wider on the track.
TIC TOP TICKETS – Held up for clear running for a short period rounding the home turn.
MISS DEL TORO – Rider B Evans was reprimanded for excessive and consecutive use of whip more than amount permitted.
