Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 1. Lacey Morrison (FOXY CHEVAL) +1.0kg
Race 3. Chris Whiteley (I AM A MARVEL) +0.5kg
Race 4. Lacey Morrison (SEALORD) +1.0kg
Race 1: JAYSEL QTIS Maiden Plate 1200M
MOONYA LAD – Raced keenly in the initial stages.
AURORA’S BELT – Hampered on jumping. Resented the kickback in the preliminary stages. Raced wide with cover throughout.
PROPER BENDER – Laid in under pressure leaving the 150 metres.
SHEZA BARBAROSSA – Began very awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
STYLISH ROSIE – Shifted in on jumping, hampering AURORA’S BELT, which in turn bumped with AUZANGATE.
VAN DER WOODSEN – Began awkwardly. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
FOXY CHEVAL – Resented the kickback in the back straight.
REVES TIME – Laid in under pressure through the early part of the home straight.
AUZANGATE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Rider Aidan Holt reported at scale that AUZANGATE hung out throughout the event.
Race 2: MS FABRICATIONS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000M
RED FALCON – Resented the kickback in the middle stages.
Checked nearing the 700 metres when tightened for room by PROPERLEIGH, which shifted in. Rider Peta Edwards, the rider of PROPERLEIGH, was found guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) with the particulars being that leaving the 700 metres, she allowed her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of RED FALCON, which was checked and lost its rightful running. Rider Edward’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, commencing from the close of racing on Friday the 25th of September up to and including racing on Sunday the 4th of October 2026. Rider Edwards was advised of her right of appeal.
BREECHES – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with WILLINGALE.
TARONG – Raced wide without cover throughout.
SPINELESS – Raced wide with cover throughout.
WILLINGALE – Proved difficult to load. Trainer Alwyn Bailey was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. Bumped on jumping.
PROPERLEIGH – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover throughout.
MR DAMAGE – Blundered on jumping.
Race 3: COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER/EWAN BRACELET OPEN Handicap 1000M
ADMITTED – Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out for the majority.
DEALING’S DONE – Stood flat-footed at the start, losing considerable ground. Trainer Wayne Winters was advised that DEALING’S DONE must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Trainer Winters advised Stewards that it would be his intention to retire DEALING’S DONE from racing.
GUAC ON – Shifted in shortly after the start crowding RACATOON, which lost ground.
RACATOON – Crowded shortly after the start, losing ground. Rider Ben Kennedy (GUAC ON) was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 131(a) and reminded of his obligations when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Race 4: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS EWAN CUP BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1750M
MISSION HOUSE – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the initial stages before being ridden forward to obtain a leading position leaving the 1300 metres. Crowded for room when conceding ground shortly on entering the home straight.
GARINION RIGH – Shifted out to improve leaving the 500 metres.
MEDAL – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
ENGELINE – Raced wide in the early stages.
SEALORD – Slow to begin.
Race 5: SIR RUPERT CLARKE & CO BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1750M
AIRWAVES – Bumped with ELLES MY NAME shortly after the start. Raced wide in the preliminary stages.
CONVO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:42pm after being found to be lame in the off-foreleg. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on CONVO be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st AIRWAVES 21c win, 17c place
2nd KHAMIS 17c place
3rd MAYOR OF KINGSTON 17c place
Trainer Tom Button was advised that CONVO will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
SWEETPEA MOOCHI – Inconvenienced nearing the 100 metres when TIGER ROCKET shifted in.
VOUCHERS – Inconvenienced on jumping. When questioned regarding the performance, rider Ben Kennedy stated that VOUCHERS was fractious in the barriers before beginning awkwardly. Rider Kennedy added that after then being unable to occupy a forward position, he endeavored to track MAYOR OF KINGSTON into the race from the 500 metres, however, VOUCHERS proceeded to run home only fairly. His explanation was noted.
MAYOR OF KINGSTON – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping.
CHANCE – Shifted out on jumping, inconveniencing VOUCHERS.
CRIMSON SPIRIT – Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
KHAMIS – Laid in under pressure in the final straight.
ELLES MY NAME – Began awkwardly then bumped with AIRWAVES shortly after the start. Shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip leaving the 200 metres.
TIGER ROCKET – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in nearing the 100 metres, inconveniencing SWEETPEA MOOCHI.
Race 6: INCITEC CLASS 4 Plate 1200M
RUSSIAN SUMMER – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
BANCORY BAY – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 550 metres.
STOKOMO – Shifted in shortly after the start, hampering EXTRA FREE. Shifted in under riding nearing the 150 metres hampering RUSSIAN SUMMER. Rider Chris Whiteley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 131(a) and reminded of his obligations to stop riding and straighten his mount in similar circumstances.
TIGON PRINCESS –Whilst Stewards noted that the mares run had ended at the 150 metres, it was noted that Jockey Kennedy had eased TIGON PRINCESS down over the concluding stages when not in direct placings contention. Rider Ben Kennedy was reminded of his obligations to ensure his mounts are ridden out fully to the line.
EXTRA FREE – Hampered shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
TARIFF – Disappointed for a run nearing the 100 metres.
Race 7: JTH ENGINEERING RATINGS BAND 0-55 Handicap 1300M
BUBBLES’N’FROTH – Raced wide without cover throughout.
VERBALISE – Proved difficult to load. Trainer Athol Ryan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Bounded in the air on jumping. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
MORDECAI – Began awkwardly.
BONNIE BOUQUET – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
ACCEPT POWER – Slow into stride.
HEROIC DELANEYS – Raced wide with cover throughout.
SHE’S GOT LYRICS – Improved onto the heels of ELITE GATHERING leaving the 800 metres and had to be steadied.
MR FERRARI – Slow into stride. Raced very wide without cover throughout.
