Race 1: XXXX Gold Maiden H’cap – 860m

CHIC DE TROY - Checked when crowded at the start.

SPINY BURR - Slow to begin.

OUR LILLY ROSE - Steadied when racing ungenerously near the 400m.

SISTER BIA - Raced 3 wide throughout.

BAILIWICK SIREN - Hung out throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the off foreleg consistent with being galloped on.


Race 2: Lockyer Hotel Forest Hill Benchmark 75 H’cap – 860m

RAPT IN RUMBA - Slow to begin.

GOJO MIMO - Raced 3 wide without cover.

TORCELLO - Had to be steadied from heels when overracing near the 700m. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer S. Barling stated that the gelding has a good record when fresh and was better suited back in grade and also appreciated the solid tempo of today's race. Stewards noted the explanation.

LISA FASHIONISTA - Stewards afforded rider R. Payne the opportunity to comment on the performance. She stated that the mare was unable to muster any early speed and as a result settled further back than she had anticipated. Jockey Payne added that her mount was under pressure for the entire event and also stated that although the mare wasn't beaten far at the finish was still slightly disappointing.


Race 3: Withcott Hotel QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1100m

MACSPICK - Slow to begin.

RUNNING THUNDER - Slow to begin and checked when crowded at the start.

RAPIDE ET FURIEUX – Began awkwardly, resulting in rider A. Fancourt making contact with the barrier partition. Following the event, A. Fancourt was examined by the ambulance officers and stood down from her remaining engagements. Rider changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

ECHELON ANNIE - Steadied when crowded slightly near the 900m.

BEKANNTES - Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for the horse being checked near the 300m.

COOPERSTOWN - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RUNNING THUNDER - Stewards questioned jockey M. Gray regarding his riding of the gelding over the final 400m. Jockey Gray stated that the gelding was off the bit at the top of the straight and he was unable to improve his position as he was concerned with horses shifting ground in the straight racing forward of him. He added that when he was able to find clear running inside the 100m he tested his mount and it finished the race off strongly before being crowded at the finish. Stewards noted the explanation.

Following the event Jockey A. Merritt was examined by the ambulance officers and subsequently stood down from his remaining riding engagements. A. Merritt was reprimanded for leaving the track without first obtaining stewards' permission.

Race 4: Club Pub Hotel Gatton Maiden Plate – 1400m

LA BOADICEA - Declared a late scratching at 2.06 pm on veterinary advice after jockey A. Spinks expressed concerns with the mares action, behind the barriers. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

4 cents in the dollar for the Win #1
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #12

SP bets are subject to deductions.

THE PLAYROOM - Kicked by another runner behind the gates and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Shifted in near the 700m and made contact with the running rail, again near the 300m struck the running rail and became badly unbalanced.

BAY RAIDER - Underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was subsequently cleared to take its place in the field. Raced 3 deep without cover throughout.

TEEKAYO - Overraced in the early and middle stages


RUNNAWAY RULER - Hung in for the majority of the home straight and near the 50m had to be steadied from heels as a result of hanging in.

BUCKLE 'N' BOOTS - Hung in throughout and struck the running rail on a number of occasions.


Race 5: Royal George Hotel Rosewood Class 1 H’cap – 1600m


TOYETTE - Slow to begin. Raced uncompetitively and compounded in the home straight. Connections were advised that the gelding will be barred from TAB venues until it establishes more competitive country form. A post race examination of the horse failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

MISS SNOWSILL - Slow to begin.

ETAIN - Raced wide in the early stages until a point near the 700m where it obtained the position outside the leader.



Race 6: Gatton Motel/Gold Star Painting F&M Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap – 1100m

Trainer C. Anderson was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SAGACIOUS FLAME by the prescribed time.

BLUE MINI - Slow to begin.

SPINIFEX FIRE - Badly crowded near the 900m.

RHIATENN ROAD – Badly crowded near the 900m.

HEADACHE - Raced 3 wide throughout.

EAGLE'S NEST - Raced 4 wide throughout.

SAVANNAH DREAM - Held up from the 400m to the 300m.

COME ON LU LU - Inconvenienced and had to be steadied from the heels of a tiring runner rounding the home turn.


Race 7: Porters Plainland Hotel CG&E Ratings Band 0-65 Hcap – 1100m

COME BY OFTEN - Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.

YOUNG COPPERFIELD - Had to be steadied when crowded near the 700m.

BLOOODED - Raced extremely wide throughout.

BILBERRY STAR - Weakened in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slight laceration to the off fore pastern. Trainer B. Brown was advised that in light of today's performance the gelding will have to trial to the stewards’ satisfaction before racing again.

GOLFING - Inclined to hang in for the majority of the home straight.


Race 8: QN Hotel Laidley Class 3 Plate – 1400m

READY REPLY - Slow into stride.

DOLL IN HI HEELS - Slow into stride.

INIQUITY - Bounded at the start.

CHILLI BEACH - Raced 3 wide throughout.

LANDALE - Hung out rounding the home turn and then was inclined to shift ground under pressure over the concluding stages.
