Race 1: Laidley Golf Club (Home Of Premium Country Golf) Maiden H’cap – 860m

PURSUING GLORY – Trainer Q. Kearney was fined $100 for failing to provide the ID card for the mare when required to do so.

VOANABA - The start was initially delayed after proving difficult to load, and then was further delayed when the filly was fractious in the barriers. VOANABA was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Trainer G. Cornish was advised that the filly would be required to officially trial prior to its next race start.

VALLEY CORNER – Slow to begin.

DASHLEY DUBH – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up entering the home straight.

VOANABA – Began awkwardly. Had to be checked near the 500m after shifting out across heels.

ZA BUBBLES – Began awkwardly.
Race 2: Lockyer Family Fun Raceday Sun Jan 3 2016 Benchmark 65 H’cap - 860m

GET THAT INDYA – A veterinary examination of the horse, which had not competed for over 2 years, cleared the gelding to start. Apprentice H. Phillips was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

I AM GROUSE – Slow to begin.

LIFE’S LIKE THAT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

HE’S A REBEL – Raced 3 wide without cover.

Following this event the track rating was downgraded to Soft 5.


Race 3: Santa Claus Maiden H’cap – 1400m

SABIUE – Declared a late scratching at 11.20 am on veterinary advice. Trainer B. Robinson was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to its next race start.

TYCOON’S PARTY – Began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with another runner.

MARMAJAH – Bumped at the start.

CALL ME RINGO – Had to be steadied near the 600m when inclined to lay in across heels, and then continued to lay in for the remainder of the race and proved difficult to ride.

PENTHOUSE SUITE – Shifted out after leaving the 200m and had to be steadied from the heels of CALL ME RINGO, which was laying in despite the efforts of its rider. Apprentice B. Appo was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

PEQUENINOS – Stewards afforded jockey T. Gray the opportunity to comment on the performance. She stated that the gelding travelled well until a point near the 600m, however failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure. She added that, in her opinion, her mount did not handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Wheeler undertook to report to stewards any abnormality which comes to light which may have had a bearing on today’s performance.

LADY AVIE – Apprentice A. Fancourt reported to stewards that the mare did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event and in her opinion failed to handle the track conditions. Trainer K. Schweida indicated to stewards it would now be his intention to retire the mare from his stable.

Following this race the track rating was downgraded to Soft 6.

Race 4: Mrs Claus And Helpers F&M Class 1 H’cap – 1100m

CHASTE ANGEL – Declared a late scratching at 3.02 pm after lunging forward and breaking through the barriers and travelling a considerable distance. Following the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions to apply:

15 cents in the dollar for the Win #9
17 cents in the dollar for place of winner #9
17 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
17 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #12

WILD ROMANCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

AZUSA – Raced wide throughout.

PROVOCATEUR – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied near the 500m when attempting to take a narrow run to the inside of MULTIFOCAL. Rider M. Murphy reported to stewards that the mare was not entirely comfortable in the rain affected conditions.

CLAIRE DELORES – Had to be steadied after leaving the 1000m to avoid heels of JADED, which was taken in by QUEEN OF THE ARK. J. Oliver, rider of QUEEN OF THE ARK, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.

COLD AS ICE – Raced wide throughout.

SPUR ME UP – Raced wide throughout. Jockey P. Romeo was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

GINA BALLERINA – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey B. Stewart stated that after being slowly away he settled further back in the field than anticipated, and as a result, in his opinion, the filly resented the kickback.





Race 5: Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer CG&E – 1100mm

I AM RELENTLESS - Trainer T. Dougall was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the gelding by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Stewards afforded jockey N. Evans the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance. He stated that after being slow to begin the gelding failed to travel at any stage throughout the event. Jockey Evans indicated the only explanation he could put forward for the performance was the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

CAST OUT – Raced wide in the early stages.


RALPH THE DRAGON – Jockey S. Drake was reprimanded for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

BLETCHY BOY – App. Jockey B. Stower was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 6: Merry Christmas To All (From LRC Committee) Benchmark 65 H’cap - 1400m

FAICONI – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

BARAKULA – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey S. Apthorpe stated that the gelding travelled well until a point near the 500m and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and, in his opinion, failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

CROUPIER – Stewards afforded trainer P. Kalinowski the opportunity to comment on the seemingly improved performance of the gelding. Mrs Kalinowski stated that, in her opinion, today’s race was a step back in class, having raced in stronger company at its most recent starts. She added that this was the gelding’s third start back from a spell and the extra distance today also suited the horse. Stewards noted the explanation.


Race 7: Alan Thomas (Thanks For The Memories) Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap - 1600m

DINA’S DRAGON – Tightened for room at the start. Had to be checked near the 400m after improving onto heels of the weakening INTIMATE KINGDOM.

ISTALENA – Slow to begin.

GOGERTY – Shifted out near the 800m and raced 3 deep without cover.

INTIMATE KINGDOM – Commenced to weaken from the 600m.

BURT – Jockey J. Morris was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

ANNIHILATION – Jockey V. Venkaya was reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

TEAR US APART – Jockey B. Stewart reported to stewards that whilst not being overly disappointed with the gelding’s performance he also added that his mount was not entirely comfortable on the rain affected track.
