SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
As J Woodhouse was ill and not riding at the meeting, he was replaced as the rider of HARMONY HONG KONG in Race 4 by L Tilley. Jockey Woodhouse was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to next riding.
 
GENERAL
 
Apprentice, Kyle Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded for failing to produce his apprentice winning rides book.
 
Race 1: ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 860 metres
 
DOWIE- Slow to begin and raced greenly in the home straight.
 
BETTER IN THAN OUT- Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 200m and again near the 150m where forced to shift to the inside to secure clear running.
 
RED DRESS- Raced greenly and had a tendency to hang out throughout the event proving difficult to ride out in the home straight. Trainer J Dunn was advised that the filly would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
MADE OF MONEY- Shifted out when awkwardly placed at heels near the 100m.
 
GULLFAXI- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
ROSEAMI- Bumped near the 50m.
 
SOMEBODY'S BABY- Began awkwardly. Hung out during the middle stages and raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: LOCKYER VALLEY PAINTING Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
 
PRINCESS MONA- Began awkwardly. Made the home turn awkwardly.
 
REMEMBER BELLA- Raced wide without cover during the early and middle stages.
 
CALL ME MAGGIE- Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MORI'S PRESS- Began awkwardly. Jockey B Elissa was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TAUCITY- Began awkwardly.
 
Race 3: GATTON VIEW HOTEL Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
REG 'N' KATH- Began awkwardly.
 
SEIZETHEMOMENT- Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
WAITAKERE- Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover during the early and middle stages.
 
FIVE CHERRYS- Improved onto heels near the 600m and shifted wider on the track. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GOLDEN WHITT- Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUCKY SENATOR- Began awkwardly losing ground.
 
METRICAL- Improved onto heels near the 600m and shifted wider on the track.
 
Race 4: TAB Maiden Handicap 1600 metres
 
ENJOY THE SHOW- Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 1:54pm after Apprentice M Wishart and Stewards expressed concerns with the tractability of the gelding which proved very difficult to control during the preliminary.   
 
Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested of ENJOY THE SHOW be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 1:54pm-
 
1st- 2cents the win, 3cents the place
2nd- 2 cents the place
3rd- 10 cents the place
 
Trainer T Gillespie was advised the gelding would be required to officially barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing.
 
HARMONY HONG KONG- Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Forced wider on the track near the 1100m.
 
STARS WILL FLY- Upon returning to scale Jockey A Allen expressed disappointment with the performance of the filly which failed to run on as he had expected when placed under pressure. The Stable representative for trainer T Gollan, Mr A Gray, also expressed disappointment with the performance of the filly which he advised had worked well in preparation of today’s event since joining the stable. A post-race Veterinary examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SHADYVALE SERENADE- Slow to begin.
 
LEO THE LION- Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
LUNA AMANTE- Near the 1100m, commenced to hang out and became very awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner. As a consequence raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
OFF COURSE- Reared as the start was affected resulting in Apprentice M Castle being struck in the face by the geldings head. Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. Hung out rounding the turn near the 1100m and as a result became awkwardly placed at heels.
 
Race 5: BRENDON LESTER CONSTRUCTIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
TREASURE OF GOLD- Declared a late scratching at 8:05am. Trainer’s representative for Mr M Nolan, Ms J Barsby, was advised a $200 fine for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time would be imposed.
 
ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS- Declared a late scratching at 8:05am on Veterinary advise. Trainer K Kemp was advised he will be required to obtain a Veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it next racing.
 
LINTHORPE LAD- Tightened for room at the start.
 
COMFORTABLY NUMB- Hung out rounding the turn near the 1100m.
 
ANGELS SHARE- For a considerable distance passing the 1100m, was steadied to avoid the heels of WITHOUT CHOICE (G Walters) which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey G Walters was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced keenly during the middle stages.
 
BOLD AND LUCY- Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. Near the 800m shifted out in an attempt to improve but was prevented for doing so by COMFORTABLY NUMB and as a consequence was steadied from heels. Forced wider on the track near the 500m.
 
Race 6: RIDING FOR ABBIE - HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY ABBIE! BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1100 metres
 
 
CHAMBERLAIN- Stewards questioned Apprentice T Townsend and Trainer R Connelly in relation to the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the gelding. Apprentice Townsend advised that her instructions were to obtain a position with cover in a one off position if circumstances permit. Ms Townsend added that in the early stages she attempted to obtain a trailing position behind PIERDAE however when CHAMBERLAIN commenced to over race and she elected to allow it to stride forward and as a consequence was forced to race 3 wide without cover. Apprentice T Townsend went on to say that near the 600m the gelding commenced to hang out and proved difficult to ride for a distance and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer R Connelly confirmed the instructions issued to Apprentice Townsend, and expressed disappointment with overall performance of the gelding which he advised had been working well in preparation for today’s first up run. In light of today’s performance Trainer R Connelly was advised by Stewards the Gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing. A Post race Veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ROCKY NUGGET- Dipped shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 7: MCNEIL FARMS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
QUEEN OF MANHATTAN- Trainer B Hull was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider for the mare by the prescribed time. Tightened for room near the 1100m, forced wider on the track and was checked.
 
DUBLE GAZE- Connections advised it would be the intention to ride the mare in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
BY THE LAW- After being loaded broke through the barriers before being quickly restrained by its rider. Upon returning to the barriers was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 1100m and forced wider on the track and as a consequence raced wide for the remainder. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ESKDALE GIRL- Tightened for room near the 1100m, forced wider on the track and was checked. Raced wide throughout.
 
KOHIKO- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
DORISS- Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the turn near the 1100m.
 
PRINCELY SUM- Restrained and shifted wider on the track by its rider to avoid interference forward of his mount near the 1100m and as a consequence lost ground. Forced wider on the track near the 400m.
 
SIZZLING DIAMOND- Laid out under pressure near the 200m.
 
Race 8: LAIDLEY CUP EASTER SATURDAY 3RD APRIL Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
 
BRING ME SHOWERS- Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer I Turner in relation to the late rider declaration. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
IN AGREEMENT- Knuckled on jumping. Laid out under pressure near the 50m bumping another runner.
 
MAEVILA RULER- Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
 
OVERFLOWING- Near the 800m improved onto heels and was steadied.
 
TIME STAMP- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly during the early stages. Near the 800m improved onto heels and was steadied.
 
SPOOLING- Raced wide throughout.
 
HECANROCKME- Slow to begin.
 
JOMERA- Raced wide throughout.
 
WINERIES- Raced wide for the majority.
 
KING BART- Raced wide without cover throughout. Bumped by another runner the 50m.

CONQUER MEE- Began awkwardly. Steadied when placed in restricted room shortly after the start.
 
GENERAL WITT- Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
TOECANARGIE MAN- Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
TAHLAYLA- Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
 
WAKE UP VICTA- Improved onto heels near the 500m and was steadied. Laid in in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA- Bumped on jumping.
