GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances-

Race 1 - OSAKA SUNSET – S Fawke +1kg
Race 1 – VALAMOUR – App D McGillivray + 1/2kg
Race 3 – THE ANGELS KISS – L Tilley +1kg
 
As App McGillivray was unable to make the allocated weight of 54kg in Race 1, stewards after consultation with trainer G. Doughty, permitted App McGillivray to ride VALAMOUR at 54.5kg. App McGillivray was subsequently fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3).
 
As jockey C Meehan was injured prior to the meeting, he was replaced by the following:
Race 2 – LICENCE TO THRILL (S Fawke)
Race 8 – BUDDY’S TALE – (H Richardson)
 
Trainer M Hemmings was fined $200 for failing to scratch both ABB ROY and TRY TO BE GOOD by the prescribed time pursuant to LR 68.
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer N Hocking (MINOR LUCK) in relation to his late rider declaration.
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer D Reynolds (ALITA, GALIUS JULIUS) in relation to his late rider declarations.
 
Race 1: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM LOCKYER VALLEY TURF CLUB Maiden Handicap 860 metres
 
POCKETROCKET – As the gelding had not started in a race for over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Slow away. Raced keenly in the middle stages and improved onto heels approaching the 400m. When questioned on the apparent improved performance, connections advised stewards that the gelding was resuming from a significant break due the gelding being immature and also had needed time to recover from a shin splint incurred during its initial racing preparation. Connections further added that they were confident in Pocketrocket performing well today given that manner in which it had been working leading up to the event and in addition to the blinkers being added for the first time, the soft track conditions of today’s event were also thought to have been favourable to the gelding’s performance. 
 
SPILT BEANS – Knuckled on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and near the winning post improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
BONA DEA – Raced wide throughout. Hung out leaving the 400m taking VALAMOUR wider on the track.
 
PUBLICAN'S PURSE – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
WITCH DAY – Slow to begin then tightened between runners shortly afterward.
 
OSAKA SUNSET – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
POWER SISTER – Approaching the 400m momentarily steadied from heels then commenced to hang out.
 
VALAMOUR – Raced wide throughout and leaving the 400m was taken wider by another runner. App McGillivray reported the filly raced greenly throughout and proved difficult to ride.
 
Following the running of race 1, the track was downgraded to a soft 7 retrospective.
 
Race 2: CONTACT LVTC FOR DETAILS ON TRADIES RACEDAY 22ND JANUARY QTIS 3-Y-O Ma 1400 metres
 
BIRAGUE – Approaching the 1000m forced to check and lose ground.
 
SUZURIN – Approaching the 100m the whip was accidently knocked from Jockey B Newport’s grasp.
 
PRINCE SHUVEE – Shifted in approaching the 1000m resulting in BIRAGE having to check and lose ground. Jockey N Tomizawa pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift in forcing BIRAGUE to take hold and lose ground. Jockey Tomizawa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of (7) days to commence midnight 02/01/22 and expire midnight 09/01/22.
 
 
PRINCESS SALLY – Hung out approaching the 1200m. Approaching the 1000m forced to check and lose ground. Raced greenly throughout. Forced to ease leaving the 50m when START STRUTTING shifted in.
 
START STRUTTING – Commenced to tire and shifted in leaving the 50m causing PRINCESS SALLY to ease. App M Savva reprimanded for not keeping her mount straight.
 
WINDOM – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
CLOUDY MISS – Slow away. Placed in restricted room leaving the 400m and was obliged to ease from the heels of PRINCESS SALLY. Jockey G Geran (PRINCESS SALLY) was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
LICENCE TO THRILL – Slow to begin.
 
MY SWEET HONEY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 3: GATTON VIEW HOTEL Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
HARRYUP – Checked and forced wider approaching the 400m.
 
KABALEGA – Slow to jump. Checked and forced wider approaching the 400m.
 
PLAN CEE – Raced three wide without cover from the 900m. Jockey J Taylor was fined $300 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
 
BLAZING FAIRY – Slow to jump.
 
HAZ DE BEE – Jockey C Whiteley reprimanded for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
THE ANGELS KISS – Laid in under pressure shortly after entering the home straight and bumped with JOLLO.
 
ALITA – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Forced wider approaching the 400m.
 
FLAMING VICTORY – Shortly after the start shifted in crowding MISS BEAT. Jockey A Fancourt was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
MISS BEAT – Shortly after the start crowded for room by FLAMING VICTORY which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey S Fawke was found guilty of careless riding under AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift out abruptly leaving the 400m forcing KABALEGA to be checked and taken out onto HARRYUP which also was checked and forced ALITA wider on the track.  Jockey Fawke’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of (10) days to commence midnight 10/01/22 and expire midnight 20/01/22.
 
 
JOLLO – Raced three wide in the early stages. Bumped shortly after entering the home straight.
 
Race 4: TRADIES RACEDAY 22ND JANUARY 2022 Class 2 Handicap 860 metres
 
SUPER ONE SUSIE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m became awkward at heels and was momentarily steadied.
RED DRESS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BIG TALK – Blundered on jumping. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
PETA CALADA – Raced wide throughout.
 
IMPLACABLE – Underwent pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the tie-up stalls and was passed suitable to race.
 
BABA VANGA – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 5: LOCKYER PRODUCE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
LEXINGTON LAD – At the start jumped outwards bumping EXPRESS DRAGON. App Z Lloyd was fined $300 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
ALL JEED UP – Jockey N Fazackerley reported his mount failed to run on over the final 400m and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to identify any abnormalities.
 
EXPRESS DRAGON – Bumped by LEXINGTON LAD at the start. Held up for clear running leaving the 400m and shifted wider to improve.
 
MOUNT PADRAO – Raced wide from the 800. Held up for clear running leaving the 600m.
 
STORMTROOPER – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages. App I Rabjones reported her mount slipped leaving the 400m. App Rabjones reported her mount failed to handle the rain affected track.
 
CHICO – Jumped outwards bumping BILL OF RIGHTS. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MAGIC MOET – Raced wide from the 600m.
 
BILL OF RIGHTS – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
SIZZLING BABE – Held up for clear running leaving the 600m.
 
Race 6: ROYAL GEORGE HOTEL ROSEWOOD RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
KOHIKO – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
HIDDEN HILLS – Held up for clear running leaving the 400m.
 
POWERWOLF (NZ) – Raced wide from the 800m.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin.
 
LA RAPIDE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout with cover.
 
ENCHANTED REIGN – Jumped outwards at the start.
 
WINERIES – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
MR INTREPID – Raced three wide in the early stages. Rider R Jamieson reported her mount didn’t appreciate the rain affected track
 
Race 7: KLUCK FARMS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Following the running of this race a number of riders express concern with a section of track near the 800 metres, Stewards inspected the track with a delegation of senior riders who agreed the track was safe to continue racing.
 
 
MAGIC TRICK – Raced wide from the 800m.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in.
 
ESKDALE GIRL – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
 
GONZO – Slow to begin, lost ground. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
MONT MONT – Jockey A Fancourt reported her mount slipped approaching the 800m.
 
SEEKING GUIDANCE – Tightened for room on jumping, lost ground.
 
GAISUS JULIUS – Jockey W Peel reprimanded for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
Race 8: AGRICULTURAL REQUIREMENTS GATTON Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
ENJOY THE SHOW – Checked at the start when BOMBARDEO shifted out abruptly. Steadied from heels and hung out leaving the 1200m.
 
BOMBARDEO (NZ) – At the start shifted out abruptly across ENJOY THE SHOW. Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post and bumped with PACKAGE.
 
PACKAGE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped with BOMBARDEO (NZ) approaching the winning post.
 
ABOVE RESERVE – Underwent a veterinary examination prior to the start after striking the fence when leaving the parade yard, passed to take its place in the field. Hung in shortly after the start and bumped with BUDDY’S TALE. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
FOUND THE MARK – Approaching the 1200m steadied from heels when SHADYVALE SERENADE was shifting to a position closer to the rail. Jockey A Fancourt rider of SHADYVALE SERENADE was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Approaching the 400m steadied when racing to the inside of CHICA ROSE which shifted in momentarily.
 
SHADYVALE SERENADE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
BUDDY'S TALE – App H Richardson was dislodged on the way to the start however remained in control of the gelding before being assisted to the start by the clerk of the course. Crowded for room shortly after the start.
 
CHICA ROSE – Jockey S Lacey reported her mount slipped near the 1100m and then failed to travel for the remainder of the race.
 
TYRIAN – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
 
Race 9: QN NATIONAL HOTEL LAIDLEY BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
WITH EDGE – Over raced in the early stages. Disappointed for a run to the inside of LOVE YA BLUE approaching the home turn and was obliged to shift back to the inside to secure a clear run.
 
GOSSIAUX – App S Stephan reported her mount did not appreciate the wet track.
 
LOVESON – Laid out shortly after the star.
 
HARRY'S ME BOY – Approaching the 800m was obliged to steady from heels when REACHFORTHESTARS shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey C Whiteley was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
LOVE YA BLUE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Bumped by SCARE CAMPAIGN approaching the 900m.
 
UNSUGARED – Shifted in near the 900m. Jockey R Andrews was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
SCARE CAMPAIGN – As jockey C Small mounted up in the parade yard, the bridle broke and had to be replaced. The gear was inspected by stewards and found to be of satisfactory condition. Raced wide throughout.
 
SPLASHING ROSSA – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when LOVESON laid out. Approaching the 900m obliged to steady from heels when placed in restricted room to inside of UNSUGARED which shifted in and away from LOVE YA BLUE. Approaching the 400m momentarily steadied when GOSSIAUX shifted in momentarily before being corrected by its rider.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
