GENERAL
 
As Jockey R Jamieson was not riding at todays meeting due to personal reasons rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary
 
 
Race 1: TAB Maiden Plate 860 metres
 
MORE MAX- After beginning only fairly was restrained soon after the start in an effort to obtain cover. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DRAGON CLAWS- Laid out passing the 800m. Approaching the 100m was held up for clear running on heels of the tiring MIEUX before shifting out to obtain clear running. Raced wide for the majority.

MIEUX- Jockey M Cahill advised that he was obliged to pressure his mount in the early stages to maintain its forward position though travelled comfortable throughout however, when pressured over the concluding stages failed to respond to his efforts. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the colt to be shin sore in both front legs. Trainer D Bougoure was advised the colt nominations would be refused for a period of six (6) weeks unless a veterinary certificate of fitness was provided prior to that date.
 
MISSY’S READY- Obliged to shift in leaving the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
PRIDE OF NALA- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
XTRASWEET- Raced wide for the majority.
 
WET FAT CAT- Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LORD BRONN- Began awkwardly. Near the 100m raced in restricted room to the inside of DRAGON CLAWS which shifted out to improve and MISSY’S READY which was taken in marginally by WET FAT CAT. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 2: HARMAN CONCRETING BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 860 metres
 
POCKETROCKET- Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
RUSSIAN PINS - Raced wide for the majority.
 
YOU ESS ESS ARE- Laid out rounding the home turn and was momentarily held up as a result. Jockey S Cormack dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
 
GREY NOISE- Laid out passing the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer L Derecourt advised that the gelding, which was having its first start for the stable, had never raced over a short distance such as that of todays event which she attributed to the seemingly improved performance.
 
POET’S DAY- Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay out for the majority. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid out onto heels approaching the winning post and was obliged to ease.
 
CARRY ON DRAGON - Held up rounding the home turn. Improved onto the heels of GREY NOISE approaching the winning post and was obliged to ease and consequently went to the line without being fully tested.
 
SOOKEYSIE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
SHE’S SO VOAIN- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 3: NOLAN'S TRANSPORT Maiden Handicap 1600 metres
 
TERMITE- Jockey M Hellyer advised that, in his opinion, his mount didn’t appreciate todays firmer track conditions.
 
ENOLBA- Bumped, became unbalanced and forced wider on the track near the 300m and raced wide from that point when FEATHERS ARE BLUE shifted out to improve. Jockey D Thornton was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
CASSIE’S GIRL- After being caught wide in the early stages elected to make a forward move leaving the 1500m and obtained a forward position outside the leader near the 1300m. Laid out passing the 400m.
 
GOTTA HAVE FUN (NZ)- Raced wide for the majority.
 
TOPTIMISTIC- Raced wide from the 800m.
 
UNUSUAL MELODY- Stood flat footed as the start was effect. Trainer L Gersekowski was advised the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
FRENCH MINER- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: QN HOTEL LAIDLEY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1600 metres
 
AMORE PRIMUS - Bumped and shifted out on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
 
POINT THE WAGON - Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the star and was obliged to ease. Improved onto heels when the pace slackened passing the 1200m and was restrained before hanging out taking the 1200m turn very wide. Raced keenly down the back straight. App L Sykes was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) in that he did use his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off-fore leg. Trainer V Heading was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness with the results of an ultrasound and x-ray of the affected leg to be included prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
THE GOLDEN SOUL - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped before being momentarily hampered soon after.
 
MY PINS (NZ) - Became awkward in its action before shying approaching the winning post becoming unbalanced as a result. An inspection of the racing surface in the immediate vicinity of the incident was conducted by Stewards and Track officials immediately after the incident with minor remedial works conducted, however nothing was identified to have caused the mare to become awkwardly in its action.
 
AMPHAWA - Commenced to race ungenerously soon after the start and shifted out abruptly and momentarily hampered THE GOLDEN SOUL.
 
SARODEC - Over-raced on heels when the pace slackened approaching the 1200m and was obliged to check.
 
TOBA - Improved onto heels when the pace slackened near the 1200m and shifted to the inside of AMPHAWA whilst over-racing despite the efforts of its rider and was crowded as a result.
 
SAGRADO - Bumped and shifted out on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
 
 
Race 5: MEMORIAL RACEDAY JUNE 9 RATINGS BAND 0 - 58
Handicap 1100 metres
 
LEOPARDI- Bumped soon after the start. Laid in and away from HEART OF KINGS near the 1000m. App B Nock advised that whilst his mount travelled comfortably throughout when asked for an effort near the 400m was disappointing. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
REGAL CONQUERER- Slow to begin. Bumped near the 1000m. Tightened for room passing the winning post and obliged to steady when SHOCK AND AWE shifted in. Jockey A Thompson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
SHOCK AND AWE- Laid in passing the winning post.
 
OUTLAW JOSEY WALES- Began awkwardly.
 
GALLERY MASTER- Crowded for room and obliged to restrain leaving the 1000m when LEOPARDI laid in and away from HEART OF KINGS.
 
KLINSMANN- Commenced to race ungenerously and bumped soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M Murphy advised that, in his opinion, his mount did not appreciate the firmer rack conditions. Trainer T Lambourn concurred with Jockey M Murphys statement, adding that the gelding is more suited to track with more give.
 
RUBIGAL- Bumped near the 1000m. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
ROSE OF TAORMINA- Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M Cahill advised that, in his opinion, his mount did not appreciate the firmer rack conditions.
 
AIRIT Buffeted soon after the start.
 
HEART OF KINGS- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 6: GATTON CUP SATURDAY JUNE 24 QTIS Three-Year-Old
BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400 metres
 
TOO HARD TO REFUSE - Began very awkwardly and consequently settled further back in the field than may have been expected. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROCKED - Bumped on jumping.
 
UNDER THE LIMIT - Began awkwardly and shifted in. When racing keenly on heels near the 1100m shifted wider on the track taking CLEARLY GEORGE wider also.
 
CLEARLY GEORGE - Forced wider near the 1100m before being pressured slightly and settling in a position outside the leader near the 800m. Shifted out abruptly on entering the home straight when struck with the whip and bumped heavily with MISHANI MISTRESS becoming unbalanced.
 
MISHANI MISTRESS- Slow into stride before bumping with ROCKED. Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped heavily soon after entering the home straight becoming unbalanced.
 
BETTER CLASS - Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: LOCKYER LIGHTNING JUNE 24 BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
FOXY FRAULIEN- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly when crossed near the 1200m.
 
BUZZ ‘N’ JOE- Began very awkwardly.
 
BALMAURICE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
ARTIE’S DESTINY- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped.
 
 
Race 8: GATTON VIEW HOTEL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2000 metres
 
DINNY’S A SUSPECT- Bumped on jumping. Approaching winning post on first occasion raced tight between MANTINELLO and MY WHISTLEBLOWER which was taken in slightly, before being obliged to ease momentarily. Momentarily held up for clear running before shifting in leaving the 100m.
 
BURY ROAD- Jockey M McGillivray advised that his mount had been inclined to lay in intermittently throughout proving somewhat difficult to ride out.
 
HE’S VIRAL (NZ)- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MY WHISTLEBLOWER- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped.
 
FEND OFF (NZ)- Became awkwardly placed on heels passing the 1700m having to be momentarily eased. App M Philpot stated that her mount had raced keenly during the middle stages adding that, in her opinion, this had a negative impact on the finishing performance of the gelding.
 
RALLY- Raced wide in the early stages.
 
BOULT- Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
