Race 1: BOOK YOUR XMAS PARTY @ LVTC SUNDAY 12TH NOVEMBER QTIS Three-Year-Old (860m)
 
KING OF THE JUNGLE – Blundered severely on jumping and lost ground. Improved onto heels approaching the 700m having to be eased, before commencing to over-race for a short distance thereafter. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
INATICK – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
I AM THOR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LITTLE SHOW – Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
 
SPEEDY MACHO – Slow to begin. Finished tailed off. Rider M. Hellyer advised that his mount felt awkward in its action throughout the event and elected to not place his mount under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HAYAI UMA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MISHANI MYSTIQUE – Laid out in the early stages before becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 700m.
 
 
Race 2: PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING & RESPONSE GROUP Maiden Plate (860m)
 
The start of the event was delayed when the bridle on RUSTIC TZAR broke behind the barriers and a replacement bridle was required to be fitted on the gelding.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed when Rider T. Brooker, rider of 3rd placegetter JACKIEDOWNUNDER, lodged an objection against 2nd placegetter RUSTIC TZAR (R. Dolan), alleging interference leaving the 100m. After taking evidence from the riders involved and connections of both runners, Stewards determined the interference, being minor in nature, had no tangible effect on the finishing order of the race and subsequently dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
OLD THUNDER – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
THOMAS MAX – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start being effected. Crowded and obliged to ease leaving the 100m before racing in restricted room thereafter.
 
TOY DANDY – Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
ISHOTTHEDEPUTY – Shifted wider abruptly when commencing to race keenly when crossed approaching the 800m, taking MAPLE MAGIC wider. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
RUSTIC TZAR – Trainer B. Healey was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of R. Dolan as the rider of the gelding. Laid in under pressure in the home straight taking JACKIEDOWNUNDER in leaving the 100m resulting in THOMAS MAX being momentarily crowded. Rider R. Dolan was advised to exercise greater care and stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
 
MAKE HASTE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NINETHUMBSUP – Slow to begin. Raced very greenly and failed to remain in contact with the field throughout the event. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer C. Bills was advised the filly would be required to trial prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
MAPLE MAGIC – Raced keenly in the early stages. Taken wider by ISHOTTHEDEPUTY approaching the 800m. Momentarily crowded between runners approaching the 600m. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
JACKIEDOWNTHELINE – From the wide barrier shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain a position with cover. Carried in for several strides by RUSTIC TZAR leaving the 100m.
 
 
Race 3: MENTAL HEALTH MONTH - OCTOBER BENCHMARK 58 Handicap (860m)
 
LOGAN'S BLADE - Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
XTRAVAGANT PARTY – Slow into stride. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Apprentice J. Molloy advised that, in his opinion, the mare would be better suited to events over further distances, adding that that the wide run was detrimental to the mare’s finishing efforts. Trainer L. Hatch stated the stable were disappointed with the performance and concurred with Apprentice Molloy’s assessment. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have mild heat-stress and a slow post-race recovery.
 
THE POWER OF ONE – From the wide barrier shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain a position with cover. Bumped with EVELYN SALT near the 750m.
 
VELENTINO – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until a point near the 150m.
 
EVELYN SALT – From the wide barrier shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain a position with cover. Bumped with THE POWER OF ONE near the 750m when laying out.
 
ULTRA INSTINCT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing Saturday, 14 October 2023 and passed fit to start. From the wide barrier shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain a position with cover.
 
SONGZILLA – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
HOT OR NOT – Held up rounding the home-turn before shifting in abruptly on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained minor lacerations to both hind-fetlocks consistent with being galloped on.
 
Following the running of the event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
 
Race 4: GOODYEAR AUTOCARE GATTON Maiden Handicap (1600m)
 
KALENDS – On entering the home straight raced in restricted room until a point near the 100m when being shifted wider around heels to obtain clear running. Rider A. Allen was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
DUSTYIAM – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start being effected. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up rounding the home-turn before being obliged to shift out and around heels to obtain clear running entering the home straight.
 
RASHFORD – Shifted wider to improve passing the 600m, bumping with WHEN DOVES FLY. Rider S. Collett was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
NEWMARKET MISS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FRENCH MINER – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover, before commencing to over-race on heels approaching the 1200m when the pace slackened.
 
MADAM MAGNOLIA – Held up for clear running rounding the home-turn. When queried regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer G. Cornish advised that in its most recent start the mare had endured a wide run which was a telling factor in its finishing efforts. He further added the softer run and the step-down in class were also contributing factors to the improved performance.
 
MISS KITIVA – Over-raced approaching the 1400m when the pace slackened and was obliged to shift wider to avoid heels.
 
WAN D'AMOUR – Harmlessly dislodged Apprentice S. WIllis on exiting the mounting yard. Apprentice S. Willis was examined by QAS officers and declared fit to fulfil her remaining engagements. Over-raced when the paced slackened approaching the 1200m. Raced wide and without cover from the 600m.
 
WHEN DOVES FLY – Bumped and taken wider by RASHFORD when that runner shifted out near the 600m.
 
DREAM OF GIARDINI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing Saturday, 14 October and passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Over-raced on heels approaching the 1200m and taken wider when the pace slackened. Again, commenced to race keenly on heels approaching the 1000m.
 
THE MONEY SPENDER – Lost ground from the 600m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised the gelding’s nominations would now be refused at TAB venues until its non-TAB form improves.
 
 
Race 5: LADBROKES BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1600m)
 
PIZZO – When queried regarding the performance, Apprentice A. Donald advised that the gelding would benefit from an addition of a tongue-tie to its gear, as well as advising that, in her opinion, the gelding is better suited to events over shorter distances.
 
INSTANT KARMA – Bumped and taken wider across the running of SIR PICCOLO rounding the home-turn.
 
OUR SPIDER – Slow into stride.
 
SIR PICCOLO – Raced keenly in the early stages when crossed. Again, commenced to race keenly on heels near the 1200m. Obliged to restrain off heels on entering the home straight and carried wider.
 
AFSOON (NZ) – Bumped by GLENGARRY rounding the home turn, before being carried wider bumping with SKATER.
 
SPIRIT'S CHARM – Slow to begin. Obliged to shift in to obtain clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
GLENGARRY – Laid out marginally rounding the home turn and bumped with AFSOON.
 
SKATER – Raced keenly near the 800m. Shifted wider to improve approaching the 400m and bumped with MASTER RED, becoming unbalanced as a result. Bumped on entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DELANEY'S GIRL – Slow into stride.
 
PROSPETTIVA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. When attempting to improve into a marginal run rounding the home turn became awkwardly placed on the heels of GLENGARRY which laid out marginally, was obliged to restrain and shifted out bumping with INSTANT KARMA, which was taken wider across the running of SIR PICCOLO.
 
MASTER RED – Raced keenly when being restrained in the early stages in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Bumped and became unbalanced approaching the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: PORTERS PLAINLAND HOTEL BENCHMARK 62 Handicap (1100m)
 
GROOVIN' THE MOO – Bumped the inside running rail near the 600m and again rounding the home turn. Shifted wider around heels leaving the 200m before improving into restricted room obliged to be steadied. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CABRINELLA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
BOLD RUMBLE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
 
GOLLY HUTT – Buffeted on jumping. Laid out passing the 800m.
 
ORSETTO – Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 900m.
 
MONTANA LADY – Bumped on jumping, taken wider and bumped GOLLY HUTT. Bumped with FROZEN MISS over the concluding stages.
 
FROZEN MISS – Dislodged Apprentice Thorburn harmlessly enroute to the barriers. Apprentice Thorburn was examined by QAS officers and declared fit to fulfil his engagements. Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced keenly on heels near the 800m. Bumped with MONTANA LADY over the concluding stages.
 
ALBERT'S IN CHARGE – Over-raced when being restrained in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of heat stress.
 
 
Race 7: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap (1100m)
 
MR VISTA – Trainer W. Bannerot was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR194 for failing to have the gelding presented to the mounting yard within the prescribed time. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home-turn.
 
DUSKY DANCER – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ANARCHY – Buffeted between runners soon after the start. Raced keenly on heels approaching the 800m.
 
MR WANDJI – Began awkwardly before becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start and subsequently settled further back in the field than may have been expected. 
 
STAR CHANCE – Held-up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight before being shifted wider. Continued to be carried wider when a runner to its inside shifted out.
 
OUT BACK BOOM – Bumped on jumping. Held-up for clear running and was unable to be fully tested over the final 50m of the event.
 
DEELOSH – Laid-in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TECOMA STREET – Bumped on jumping. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels rounding the home-turn.
 
 
Race 8: ROCK TRADE INDUSTRIES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1400m)
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing Rider L. Tilley to view the official photo finish for first. When Rider L. Tilley was satisfied that a margin was present, correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
BETTER EXPLAIN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped when racing tight with KORUTO passing the winning-post.
 
KORUTO – Laid in and became awkwardly placed on heels near the 500m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped with BETTER EXPLAIN passing the winning-post.
 
AMERICANA MAGIC – Declared a late scratching at 4:33pm after refusing to proceed to the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on the gelding to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:33pm:
 
5 cents in the dollar for the win
5 cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer G. Allard was advised the gelding would be required to trial under race-day conditions prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
TAVIJEWEL (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped. Over-raced when crossed near the 1300m. Became under pressure from the 600m. Rider J. Byrne could offer no explanation for the performance other than the mare proved disappointing when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CAPTAIN HOOK (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly when laying out near the 1200m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SEMPREINTE – Laid out passing the 400m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
EASIER SAID – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Raced keenly near the 1200m. Finished tailed off. Trainer L. Abbott advised connections would now consider the gelding’s immediate racing future. Nonetheless, Ms Abbott was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for the poor performance.
 
RADIANT QUEEN – Bumped on jumping.
 
MANA COMBAT (NZ) – Bumped and taken out bumping with another runner on jumping.
 
 
Race 9: REDMONDS PET & LIVESTOCK SUPPLIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap (1400m)
 
BELLE'S BOY – Raced wide and without cover in the early stages. Rider M. Hellyer was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(b) to ride his mounts out to the finish of the race. Rider M. Hellyer was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
BIGGIE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Momentarily held up on heels on entering the home straight and obliged to be shifted wider to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure leaving the 100m crowding runners to the inside. Apprentice O. Webb was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  
 
FREEDOM AVENUE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing Saturday, 14 October and passed fit to start. Began awkwardly, shifted in, and bumped. Shifted in approaching the 200m and bumped AMERICAN PIONEER before crowding HERECUM DA DRUMS. Rider J. Huxtable was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced in restricted room leaving the 100m.
 
MAPLE DOOR – Bumped on jumping, taken in and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. Laid in near the 1200m before commencing to race keenly on heels for a short distance. Obliged to shift out around heels leaving the 100m.
 
AMERICAN PIONEER – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover. Laid out marginally near the 1100m and became awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied. Laid out under pressure and bumped FREEDOM AVENUE approaching the 200m before crowding HERECUM DA DRUMS. Rider S. Collett was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Crowded and became awkwardly placed on heels leaving the 100m when DANTE ALIGHIERI shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
THEGIRLSGOTTHIS – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home-turn and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
HERECUM DA DRUMS – Disappointed for a run and obliged to steady and shift wider approaching the 200m.
 
DANTE ALIGHIERI – Whilst racing keenly near the 1100m shifted in when not fully clear of MR MAHARAJ before continuing to shift in marginally crowding AMERICAN PIONEER, which was laying out. Apprentice O. Kendall was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances as a result. Laid out under pressure leaving the 100m crowding runners to the outside. App O Kendall was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
 
JESTER STATEMENT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing Saturday, 14 October and was passed it to start. Bumped on jumping.
 
MR MAHARAJ – Bumped on jumping. Obliged to steady momentarily near the 1100m when DANTE ALIGHIERI shifted in.
 
EAST ESPLANADE – Bumped on jumping. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from one-nostril. Trainer B. Puckeridge was advised of the provisions of AR79(8).
