SILVER WARRIOR (SAF) – Shortly after the start was steadied from the heels of MISHANI GANGSTER (C. Lowe) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice C. Lowe pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 1300m, she rode her mount in, when insufficiently clear of SILVER WARRIOR (B. Baker), which was tightened for room and obliging Apprentice B. Baker to take hold of her mount to avoid the heels of MISHANI GANGSTER. Apprentice C. Lowe’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing at the conclusion of another suspension on midnight 21st of August 2025 and concluding midnight 28th of August 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered Apprentice Lowe’s guilty plea, status of an Apprentice, record in relation to this rule, the QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines and that the totality of days she will be serving in current suspensions was not manifestly excessive. Apprentice B. Baker was questioned in the presence of Racing Queensland Apprentice Mentor R. Fradd and Master A. Campton, regarding her riding from the 600m. Mr. Campton stated that the instructions were to ride the gelding where comfortable and he was expecting it to settle back in the field. Apprentice B. Baker confirmed the instructions, adding that after receiving interference early in the race, SILVER WARRIOR balanced and settled towards the rear. She further added that she felt she had commenced to ride the gelding from the 300m but shortly after straightening, when trying to save ground along the rail, she was unable to secure clear running, was held up from the 100m and went to the finish line without being tested. Both Mr. Campton & Mr. Fradd concurred with that view but noted Apprentice Baker should have ridden the gelding along earlier and looked to shift out approaching the home straight. Stewards, in considering the evidence and bearing in mind apprentice Baker’s limited race riding experience, took the matter no further, other than referring her ride to the Racing Queensland Apprentice training department for further tuition.
MR WANDJI – Began awkwardly.
DUNLOE – Approaching the 1100m, hung out across the heels of YEAH COPY and was checked. Hung out rounding the home turn. Jockey A. Allen reported his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event. Trainer D. Morgan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its racing manners. Trainer D. Morgan advised Stewards it was now his intention to experiment with the horses gear and would look to avoid running the gelding on tight turning tracks at its future starts.
AMENOPHIS – Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 250m.
KIND WISH (NZ) – Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount was obliged to do too much work in the early stages from the wide gate which in his opinion was detrimental to the mare’s finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
