GENERAL

As Jockey D. Smith and Apprentice J. Busuttin (Race 5 & 7) had transport difficulties arriving on course, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary.

Trainer D. Stanbridge was reprimanded pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor MISHANI SUSPECT by the prescribed time.

Trainer D. Morgan was reprimanded pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor ACE’S IN BLOOM by the prescribed time.

RACE 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE 2000 Metres

AIR OF AUTHORITY – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages.

ALZURRI – Brushed the running rail near the 1500m and momentarily became awkward in its action for a short distance. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

BARGARA BOUND – Very slow to begin. Raced wide from the 900m.

CAPTAIN INSANO – Raced wide from the 800m.

CIRCUS MAXIMUS – Raced wide until the 1300m.

SALLY'S KATO – Slow to begin.

SOUTHERN DRAW – Hung out rounding the first turn. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Dunn was advised that SOUTHERN DRAW would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.

I'MA CHARMER – Taken wider by SOUTHERN DRAW rounding the first turn.

LADY SANTOS – Over raced during the early stages.

MAN TALK – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 100m, obliged to alter course and shift in after improving onto the heels of SOUTHERN DRAW.

RACE 2: CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres

ROCKABILLY (NZ) – Laid out near the 1100m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

LEICA LEMON – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up after improving onto heels near the 400m. Obliged to alter course near the 100m to obtain clear running.

SURE START – Turned its head as the start was effected and as a result, was slow to begin. Near the 800m, whilst racing keenly, improved onto the heels of ITALIAN GIRL and had to be steadied.

TRUSTY ROSICA – Raced greenly in the middle stages and near the 600m improved onto heels of LEICA LEMON and had to be steadied. Momentarily held up after improving onto heels near the 400m.

LIGHTNING DRONE – Began awkwardly and bumped with ITALIAN GIRL.

TRUCK STOP HONEY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

ITALIAN GIRL – Bumped on jumping. Dipped on entering the home straight. Jockey K. Zechner reported the filly put in an awkward stride and dipped on entering the home straight and for this reason he elected to ease the filly down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

RACE 3: FALVEY'S HOTEL GATTON MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres

LUCKY ARTIE – Bumped on jumping. Raced four wide without cover throughout. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey M. Palmer reported that being caught wide without cover throughout was detrimental to the gelding’s finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

MISHANI FLASH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early stages. Momentarily steadied rounding the home turn.

SHADYVALE AL – Raced wide throughout.

CHILPUR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced since October 2024 and was cleared to start. Blundered shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

CHOSEN STITCH – Slow to begin.

DEMES GIRL – Raced keenly in the early stages.

RARE MOON – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

DEVINE SQUIRE (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LUCKY ARTIE. Raced wide throughout. Trainer D. Forster was reprimanded pursuant to AR206(1) for presenting the gelding to race with a tongue tie which was not part of its declared gear.

SARDINIA – Hampered between runners on jumping.

FORTUNATE DRAGON – Slow to begin.

RACE 4: LADBROKES SPRING HOSTED POTS CLASS 1 PLATE 1100 Metres

FIRST MAN – Raced in restricted room near the 900m and was steadied when HEADLINE LEGEND (B. Baker) shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice B. Baker was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

HARRY THE HORSE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer S. Kirkwood was advised the gelding would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and would be required to trial/gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.

ORIENTE – Shifted out on jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Laid out in the middle stages.

DAZZLING DIAMOND – Slow to begin.

KAHLUA GIRL – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice J. Newman advised the filly may not have appreciated the tight turning track.

COSTA CATORI – Connections advised that the gelding will be ridden without the use of the whip. Slow to begin.

RACE 5: VALE MARGARET KYNOCH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 860 Metres

KRAKARIB – Began awkwardly.

HARD LANDING – Raced wide throughout.

GYPSY TRICKS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported his mount felt awkward in its action. Cast its off fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer B. Smith was advised GYPSY TRICKS will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing or trialing.

CABRINELLA – Began awkwardly. Laid in approaching the winning post.

BEITSOO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RACE 6: LVTC 2025 MELBOURNE CUP CALCUTTA - 2ND NOVEMBER CLASS 1 PLATE 1400 Metres

MOONSHINE RUN – Slow to begin and was then bumped. Shifted in under pressure from the 100m.

SILVER AGENT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Bumped approaching the winning post.

SWITCHBLADE – Held up from the 400m until the entrance of the home straight. Leaving the 50m was checked when disappointed for a run between SILVER AGENT and ACE’S IN BLOOM (C. Baker) which shifted out, and went to the line without being fully tested. Apprentice C. Baker was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

THUNDEROUS – Began awkwardly.

ACE'S IN BLOOM (NZ) – Shifted out over the concluding stages and bumped with SILVER AGENT, resulting in apprentice C. Baker becoming unbalanced.

JUST WANT YOU BACK – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

QUALITY MISS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 100m, was inconvenienced when MOONSHINE RUN (K. Zechner) shifted in under pressure. Jockey K. Zechner was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

FOREBEARS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

WHISTLIN' RULER – Bumped on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 600m and was steadied.

RACE 7: GOODYEAR AUTOCARE GATTON CLASS 1 PLATE 1400 Metres

MIDNIGHT MADNESS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

POWER OF SUCCESS – Laid out near the 1100m. Brushed the running rail near the 1000m.

ARANUI LASS (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

DUBAWI'S GIRL – Eased down from the 150m. Jockey L. Tilley could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for the poor performance.

DELORIS – Slow to begin.

RACE 8: LADBROKES TOP 2/3/4 BETTING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres

DON'T DISS AROUND – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

FLASHBANG – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for standing flat footed.

SUKHBIR – Began awkwardly.

AMENOPHIS – Raced wide for the majority.

WEST CORK – Raced keenly in the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight, was held up from the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.

KOZANI – Crowded for room approaching the winning post.

DENETTA – Approaching the 100m, eased when racing in restricted room to the inside of DON’T DISS AROUND (B. Lerena) which laid in under pressure. Jockey B. Lerena was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

BLACK MINTO – After being caught wide in the early stages, whilst racing keenly, was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 800m.

INDUBITABLY – Raced wide throughout.

RACE 9: BOOK YOUR CORPORATE XMAS PARTY TRACKSIDE SUNDAY 21ST DECEMBER BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1600 Metres

KNEZE – Raced wide from the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ALABAMA MOONLIGHT – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 200m, steadied when tightened for room between TAKUNAI (T. Brooker) which shifted out marginally, and MOET AT MIDNIGHT (N. Tomizawa) which laid in under pressure. Jockey N. Tomizawa was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident and Jockey T. Brooker was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

PROPONENT – Near the 200m, taken in by KNEZE (C. Krahnen) which laid in under pressure. Apprentice C. Krahnen was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. When questioned regarding his riding in the home straight, jockey K. Yoshida explained that when PROPONENT was taken in near the 200m, he elected to restrain after improving close to the heels of ALABAMA MOONLIGHT and shift out to obtain clear running. After reviewing the films, Jockey K. Yoshida concurred with Stewards that he erred in restraining and shifting to the outside of ALABAMA MOONLIGHT, when there was clear running if he remained to the inside of that runner. Stewards noted the comments and reminded Jockey Yoshida of his obligations to ensure his riding is always beyond reproach or question. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

REGGIE'S FOLLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

MOET AT MIDNIGHT – Change of tactics; to be further forward. Settled behind the leaders. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
