The training partnership of T. & M. Sears was fined $200 pursuant to LR68(1) for the late scratching of KEEP IT LOKI in Race 9.
RACE 1: JACK TILLACK & CORAL SHIMMING MAIDEN PLATE 860 M
MIGHTY RUSSIAN - Began awkwardly.
DEMES GIRL – Slow into stride.
ALIZA - Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in over the concluding stages.
BETTY BOOM – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
PFEIFFER'S KISS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
I'LLTELLYOUAFTER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
RACE 2: WALLY CROSS & JACK BRENNAN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M
KIRKSVILLE - Shifted in on jumping and hampered ONLY CRUNCHIE. Brushed the fence near the 200m.
SIKKA - Began awkwardly. Eased off heels near the 500m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice E. Lang was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using her whip above shoulder height.
ONLY CRUNCHIE – Hampered at the start.
TOO DARN SMART – Began awkwardly and bumped SWEET ARMANI.
BEFORE THIS WORLD – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SWEET ARMANI – Bumped at the start.
DESERT DAWN – Laid out rounding the turn near the 800m.
POWERFUL DOLPHINS – Raced three-wide in the early stages.
RACE 3: BILL MCGOVEN & MICK BUGLER MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M
SIBERIAN – Slow to begin.
BOMBUS – Rider D. Boche was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for raising his whip above shoulder height.
WAITING FOR GRAHAM – Slow to begin. Near the 750m, was awkwardly placed on heels and became unbalanced after brushing the rail.
THAT'S A BEAUTY - Began awkwardly, shifted in and hampered STRAZ DANZ.
STRAZ DANZ – Hampered at the start.
RACE 4: HEC FREEMAN & BILL FAULKER MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400
VAIN ROSSI - Slow to begin.
TURF GAZETTE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed cuts to the off-hind leg.
CHIDGEY – Bumped when racing in restricted room near the 1200m. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
SAMPHIRE GREEN (IRE) - Stood flat-footed as the start was affected. Trainer B. Robinson was advised the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
WHAT DID YOU SAY – Trainer J. Moore was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the gelding to the enclosure with incorrect gear. Checked by TURF GAZETTE (M Hellyer) and lost ground passing the 1200m. Jockey M. Hellyer pleaded not guilty to the charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that he permitted TURF GAZETTE to shift in when not clear of WHAT DID YOU SAY, which was checked, bumped with CHIDGEY, which then raced in restricted room. After taking further submissions from jockey Hellyer, Stewards were of the view that the charge could not be sustained and he was found not guilty.
SHE'S A FIZZ – Shifted in on jumping.
RACE 5: ERROL & ROCHELLE BACHMANN BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 860 M
I AM A WINNER – Near the 400m, momentarily restrained from heels when laying out. Apprentice A. McColm was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ride his mount out to the finish.
LEVAR – Forced wider at the turn near the 600m.
RAIDERLICIOUS – Raced three-wide throughout without cover.
COPPER SUNSET - Raced wide throughout.
WORTHY – Took the turn near the 600m very awkwardly and hung out.
WISE CHOICE – Forced wider at the turn near the 600m.
MASTER MIYAGI – Forced wider at the turn near the 600m. Over-raced in the early stages.
RACE 6: GREG ELLIOT MEMORIAL CUP BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP - APPRENTICE JOCKEYS ONLY 1100 M
The start of this race was delayed by approximately four minutes when TSUKINO lost its off-fore plate enroute to the barriers and had to be reshod prior to the start.
APOLLO TEN – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
HOOT 'N' HOLLER - Began awkwardly.
TSUKINO – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
GOLD REVOLUTION – Raced three-wide throughout.
ELECTRIC ARROW – Blundered and lost ground when crowded between runners on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
AZAFRAN – Began awkwardly. Checked and lost ground passing the 800m when EBOLDEN (App M. Philpot) shifted in. At a subsequent enquiry, Apprentice M Philpot was found guilty to the charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that passing the 800m, she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount shifting in when insufficiently clear of AZAFRAN, causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. Apprentice Philpot’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, commencing Thursday, 16th April up to and including Friday 24th April 2026.
EMBOLDEN - Slow to begin.
RACE 7: VINCE HAUSER & NOEL STAATZ RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1100 M
SMACKEROONY – Began awkwardly.
STYLISH JOKER – Began awkwardly.
SHAMROCK'S SECRET – Eased off heels passing the 600m.
ANCIENT MISSION - Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
PACIFIC PIRATE – Began awkwardly. Brushed the fence near the 600m.
RACE 8: PETER TOOHILL MEMORIAL PLATE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400 M
WITHOUT REVENGE (GB) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
VICTORY COMMAND (NZ) – Slow to begin.
ARIAT - Slow to begin. Brushed the rail near the 1300m.
THE CATCH - Over-raced in the early stages.
GARINION RIGH – Shifted out on jumping and bumped WITHOUT REVENGE.
LONE FORCE – Apprentice E. Lang was reminded of her obligations under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
RACE 9: SAVE THE DATE 2026 GATTON CUP JUNE 27 BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1600 M
MAPLE DOOR – Bumped at the start.
BLUE CHIP GIRL – Shifted in on jumping and bumped MAPLE DOOR.
OUR ORATOR – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
