SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Trainer P. Butterworth was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare riders in Heats 12 and 21 at Doomben trials on the 2nd of June 2026.
GENERAL
Race 1. Stewards accepted the reason for trainer J. Brown failing to scratch dual acceptor LULU A Natural by the prescribed time.
As jockeys M. Murphy and K. Bennett were not riding at the meeting due to injury, riding changes were made as per the Meeting Summary Report.
RACE 1:DOMESTIC & FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH MAIDEN PLATE 860 Metres
Prior to correct weight, jockey K Yoshida, rider of third placegetter EXCESS CAPITAL viewed the judges’ official photo for second place.
SCION – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on after a minor injury to its mouth whilst in the tie up bays. Raced wide for the majority. Laid out approaching the 500m.
BILLILICIOUS – Began awkwardly and slow away.
EXCESS CAPITAL - Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
LAKE OF FIRE – Raced wide for the majority. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
ELIZAHRO – Raced wide for the majority.
ROUGE ANGEL – Laid out rounding the home turn.
RACE 2:BARRIER REEF POOLS BM68 HANDICAP 860 Metres
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes after DON’T CALL ME HONEY refused to load. DON’T CALL ME HONEY was declared a late scratching at 12:56pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on DON’T CALL ME HONEY to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – DIAMANTINA ROSE – 15c win, 16c place
2nd – JACKA STANDS ALONE – 8c place
3rd – GYPSY TRICKS – 22c place
Trainer G. Banks was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate in an official trial prior to racing again.
ENUFF PILLS – Checked at the 600m when DIAMANTINA ROSE (App. K Lenton) shifted in when insufficiently clear. At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice K Lenton pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a). Apprentice K Lenton’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, to commence midnight the 6th of June and end at midnight the 16th of June 2026. Apprentice Lenton was advised of her rights of appeal. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled bilaterally for the first occasion Trainer T. Ranger was advised of the provisions of AR 79(4).
HARBOUR GOLD – Slow into stride.
JACKA STANDS ALONE – Near the 700m, whilst racing keenly, was restrained when racing in restricted room when MISTER TUDOR (M. Savva) momentarily shifted in. Rider M. Savva was advised to take greater care under similar circumstances. Passing the 300m, was held up for clear running before being awkwardly placed on heels and shifted wider.
WATER LAD - Began awkwardly.
RACE 3:LADBROKES HOSTED POTS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres
BRASS BAND – Began awkwardly.
WEATHER – Slow to begin. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
YOWERI – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
HELL ON HEELS - Connections advised a change of tactics – intention to settle further forward. Settled in a rearward position. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer R. Warzecha advised that it was the likely intention to retire the mare.
LULU A NATURAL – Raced wide for the majority.
ENCHAANTED – Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until the 150m.
RACE 4:LADBROKES BIG BETS COPY NOW MAIDEN PLATE 1400 Metres
HURRICANE HANK – Laid out shortly after the start.
OOMPA – Began awkwardly. Jockey F. Larson reported his mount raced greenly throughout and was held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
SLAYRIDER - Raced wide in the early stages before being taken wider passing the 1000m when racing to the outside of BETTER GO TORQUE which was taken wider by TROFEO.
BETTER GO TORQUE – Near the 1000m, was inconvenienced and carried wider by TROFEO which shifted wider to avoid the heels of YOUANDMEDUPRE.
TROFEO – Raced keenly in the early stages and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of YOUANDMEDUPRE passing the 1000m.
YOUMEANDDUPRE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
ELLOFABY – Shifted wider passing the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RED CAPE – Co-Trainers B. and M. Costello were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being uncompetitive.
RACE 5:EDWARDS SADDLEWORLD TOOWOOMBA 0 - 62 HANDICAP 2000 Metres
WAVERLEY – Raced in restricted upon entering the home straight when O’CALDINO laid out when placed under pressure. Apprentice B. Wheeler, rider of O’CALDINO, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
O'CALDINO – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after having raced at Toowoomba on the 30th of May. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
STOICISM (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out upon entering the home straight.
BORN TO BE ALIVE – Rider K. Zechner reported his mount was obliged to work too hard in the lead during the early and middle stages and consequently weakened in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
LORD PROTECTOR (NZ) - Near the 200m, eased when TRUSTY BANDIT shifted in momentarily before being corrected by its rider. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
TRUSTY BANDIT – Passing the 200m, became awkwardly placed on heels of WAVERLEY.
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin.
BIG HITTER - Steadied from heels when entering the home straight when STOICISM (apprentice A. McColm) shifted out. Apprentice McColm was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
RACE 6:2026 CHARITY GOLF DAY (EPILEPSY QLD) – 26TH JUNE BM60 HANDICAP 1100 Metres
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, apprentice B. Wheeler, rider 2nd past the post (SIGLO DE ORO) lodged an objection against 1st past the post CHANTILLY (rider G. Cartwright), alleging interference from near the 500m and on entering the home straight. After obtaining evidence from both riders, connections and viewing the available patrol footage, it was established that approaching the 500m CHANTILLY improved up on the heels of ON THE TARGET and shifted out bumping SIGLO DE ORO, carrying that gelding wider. Following this, near the 500m, SIGLO DE ORO shifted inwards bumping CHANTILLY, carrying that filly in and onto the heels of XERRI, whereby it was checked. Further, rounding the home turn both SIGLO DE ORO and CHANTILLY bump on several occasions. As Stewards could not be satisfied that any interference suffered, the proximity of the interference to the winning post and how both runners’ found the line. Stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
At a subsequent inquiry, rider G. Cartwright was severely reprimanded for shifting out approaching the when not clear of SIGLO DE ORO (B. Wheeler) and near the 500m, apprentice B. Wheeler was severely reprimanded for shifting in.
XERRI – Became awkwardly placed on the heels of SIGLO DE ORO over the concluding stages and shifted out.
THUNDER AWARD – Slow into stride.
SCRUFFY – Began awkwardly. Steadied from the heels of XERRI which shifted out over the concluding stages.
CHANTILLY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Improved onto heels near the 500m and shifted out forcing SIGLO DE ORO wider. Bumped with SIGLO DE ORO near the 500m. Bumped with SIGLO DE ORO on several occasions on entering the home straight.
SIGLO DE ORO – Bumped and carried wider near the 500m. Bumped with CHANTILLY on several occasions on entering the home straight.
STREET DAZZLER – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Jockey A. Allen removed the tongue tie from the mare which in his opinion was preventing the mare from proceeding to the start. After the tongue tie was removed, proceeded to the start and as a result STREET DAZZLER raced without the tongue tie. Trainer G. Banks advised Stewards that it was his intention to remove the tongue tie from the mare’s approved gear. Trainer G. Banks was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for proving reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Passing the 100m, raced in restricted room when LUKEY BLUE shifted out under pressure and ROWDASH laid in.
LUKEY BLUE – Began awkwardly. Brushed the inside running rail near the 1000m. Passing the 100m, shifted out under pressure.
ROWDASH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ON THE TARGET – Began awkwardly.
RACE 7:SAVE THE DATE FRIDAY 26TH JUNE - GATTON CUP CALCUTTA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
HARD AS BROK – Near the 500m, steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of SPIRITOFTHEWORLD. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SHEZA'S DESTINY - Raced keenly in the early stages. Co-trainer C. Munce was advised that a warning would placed on the filly for being difficult to load. Raced keenly in the early stages.
ENCRYPTED FEELING – Bumped on jumping. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off hind pastern. Co-trainer P. Hulbert was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
DECEITFUL MISS – Hung out rounding the first turn. Raced wide throughout. Rider M. Hellyer reported the filly was inclined to lay out throughout. Trainer J. Pritchard was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
SPIRITOFTHEWORLD – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after blood was present in the gelding’s mouth on arrival to the barriers and cleared to start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ELUSIVE DOMINA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
BRITANNIA ROSE - Bumped on jumping. Near the 600m, shifted in abruptly unbalancing apprentice A. McColm before making contact with the running rail on several occasions. Apprentice A McColm reported that the filly began only fairly, and was raced wide until obtaining a position on the rail near the 800m. He added that BRITANNIA ROSE became awkward in its action near the 600m contacting the inside running rail on several occasions. He added that, following this the filly failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near fore cannon.
MISHANI GLAZE – Approaching the 1200m, was inconvenienced and carried wider by DECEITFUL MISS which was hanging out. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 8:2026 LADBROKES GATTON CUP TICKETS ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
FORTUNEER – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1200m, was bumped on hindquarters by MERCHANT LADY and became momentarily unbalanced. Held up upon entering the home straight, before being obliged to alter course to obtain clear running. Again held up for clear running near the 100m before shifting out.
ZEAMAIZE – Laid in over the concluding stages.
NAILS AND PRIDE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
VACILLATION – Raced keen in the middle stages. Passing the 600m, when over-racing, was restrained when close to heels. Approaching the 500m, bumped the hindquarters of PRIVALOVA which shifted out momentarily. Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey A Thompson reported his mount had a tendency to lay in throughout.
MARAGICAL - Slow into stride.
MERCHANT LADY - Approaching the 1200m, steadied when racing in restricted room between FORTUNEER and MARAGICAL.
PRIVALOVA - Raced wide throughout.
JACKS AND SODA – Momentarily raced in restricted room approaching the 200m when ALL BLACK laid out before being corrected and NAILS AND PRIDE laid in under pressure. Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post when ZEAMAIZE laid in.
JEDIAH – Slow to begin.
