SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Gold Coast 14/10/2026 -
TRISKELION – Race 5 Aquis Beaudesert Turf Club - Friday 6 February 2026
Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reason for TRISKELION falling near the 200m. After taking evidence from Apprentice J. Williams, assisted by RQ Apprentice Coach M. Cahill and upon reviewing the available footage, Stewards determined that at a point leaving the 300m, TRISKELION commenced to gain ground on BOOM BREAK (E. Lang) which was under pressure and weakening; and approaching the 200m, TRISKELION improved onto the heels of that runner and fell. Stewards in assessing all the evidence, were of the view that Apprentice Williams should have desisted from pressuring his mount sooner when realising BOOM BREAK was commencing to weaken. However, when considering how quickly BOOM BREAK weakened, Stewards did not take any action against Apprentice Williams other than advising him to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Toowoomba 12/10/2026 –
Stewards have concluded their inquiries into the stabling of Brooklyn Daisy, Decorative, Lupine and Uluwatu trained by Kristie Clark Peoples, which were engaged to participate at the Dalby Cup meeting on Sunday 13th of September 2026. On the day, evidence was taken from Trainer K. Clark-Peoples and as a result Stewards withdrew all of herhorses engaged at the meeting. Today Stewards continued their inquires via video link with K. Clark-Peoples and her legal counsel Mr. Jim Murdoch KC. After taking further evidence and submissions K. Clark-Peoples was issued one charge under the provisions of AR296(4)(b) and fined $500. Stewards considered the evidenced tendered that the horses declared for Dalby, along with the horses engaged to race at the Toowoomba meeting on Saturday 12th of September, had left the Sunshine Coast stables on Saturday afternoon. The horses engaged at Dalby were dropped off at the Hursley Road property prior to the Toowoomba runners arriving on course. Further K. Clark-Peoples advised that the reason the Dalby runners were stabled on this occasion was a part of her handling the logistics of horses being engaged at several meetings over the weekend with limited vehicles and to manage staff. In accessing penalty Stewards considered that K. Clark-Peoples had not notified Stewards of her travel intentions prior to leaving her Sunshine Coast stables, her guilty plea, forthright evidence, her approximately 15 years of holding a trainer’s licence, this being her first breach of this rule along with the concern of integrity and a penalty to act as a specific and general deterrent.

GENERAL

Trainer T. Hargrave was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of D. Peisley as the jockey of FORTRESS AUSTRALIA in Race 4. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Trainer Hargraves’ record in relation to the rule.

Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 1: D. Peisley +0.5kg (56.5)

Race 1 - BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards considered a protest lodged by T. Brooker, jockey of the 2nd placed GRANDSTANDER against the 1st placed KICK ON CHARLIE (D. Peisley) alleging interference over the final 100m. After viewing the Stewards patrol footage and hearing evidence from both T. Brooker & D. Peisley it was established leaving the 100m KICK ON CHARLIE shifted out under riding, contacting GRANDSTANDER momentarily. When considering the interference suffered to GRANDSTANDER and the ½ head margin, Stewards couldn’t be satisfied that had the interference not occurred, GRANDSTANDER would have finished ahead of KICK ON CHARLIE at the conclusion of the event and therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judges numbers.

GRANDSTANDER – Hampered at the start. Leaving the 100m, contacted by KICK ON CHARLIE which shifted out.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards questioned Apprentice P. Carter, in the presence of senior rider M. Du Plessis, regarding her riding of the mare particularly in the middle stages. Apprentice Carter explained her instructions were to allow PAPAL MISS to travel where comfortable, adding that in the middle stages the mare commenced to over race and near the 1300m, she shifted wider. She stated that the mare continued racing keenly and she allowed her mount to stride however couldn’t reach the lead, so she was caught in a four wide position without cover throughout. Apprentice Carter added that from the 600m, when placed under pressure, PAPAL MISS failed to respond to her riding and weakened. Stewards were of the view that in the middle stages, apprentice Carter should have attempted to restrain her mount when caught four wide in an attempt to obtain a position with cover to give the mare the best opportunity to finish the race off. When considering apprentice Carter has only just returned from an extended lay off due to injury and had limited rides, Stewards took the matter no further.
