RACE 1: MALARGA GRAZING CO RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap (1000 METRES)

COSTA CATORI – Trainer D. Corbett advised stewards pre-race of a change of instructions that the whip would be applied sparingly today. Ridden accordingly. Raced wide throughout.
 
HEY PUMPKIN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRAIGLEA BRONTE – Near the 30m, checked, clipped heels and blundered when HEY PUMPKIN (Apprentice C. Lowe) shifted in under pressure. Apprentice rider C. Lowe (HEY PUMPKIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in near the 30m when insufficiently clear of CRAIGLEA BRONTE, which was tightened for room when racing to the outside of I’M FAMOUS, resulting in CRAIGLEA BRONTE having to check, clip the heels of HEY PUMPKIN and lose its rightful running. Apprentice C. Lowe’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding, commencing midnight 18/10/2025 until midnight 30/10/2025.
 
DAUNTING INSTINCT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
I’M A CHOCOHOLIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Stewards noted rider A. Spinks’ use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, however as the totality (12) was within the permitted amount, no further action was taken. A. Spinks was also reminded of his obligations under AR132(7)(a)(i) regarding use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.  
 
THE STORM – Raced wide throughout.  
 

RACE 2: GORDON FAMILY TRUST COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap (1000 METRES)

DEHORNED UNICORN – Leaving the 800m, improved onto heels when over-racing and had to be steadied. Rider G. Geran reported his mount over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
INVAHIR – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.

ON HOLD – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CITY CHICK – Raced wide throughout. Rider H. Phillips reported her mount appeared to resent the firm track conditions.
 
FLYING RUPERT – Rider K. Gates was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out over the final strides of the race.
 
IMMORTAL LASS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near-fore. Trainer J. Hancock was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to IMMORTAL LASS racing again.
 

RACE 3: BURNETT AG SUPPLIES BURNETT TO THE BEACH SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1200 METRES)
 
BEE TWO – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
PABALLO – Raced three-wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Stewards noted apprentice rider C. Lowe’s use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, however as the totality (15) was within the permitted amount, no further action was taken.
 
MUSSEL LINES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rider H. Phillips reported her mount didn’t show the expected early speed and may not have benefited from the quick backup between runs.


RACE 4: SEIDNER CATTLE CO QTIS Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

REEBAR – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
TIME TO TURN – Rider M. Kennedy reported her whip became damaged approaching the 100m and became awkward to use.
 
ALVITAR – Rider C. Taylor reported his mount travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to riding in the latter stages, adding that the mare did not seem comfortable on the firmer track conditions today. Rider C. Taylor was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ride his mount out over the final strides of the race.
 
RELATIVES – Slow to begin and lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout. Lost off-fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off-fore. The training partnership of C. & K. Geran was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to RELATIVES racing again.
 
SECRET CAVIAR – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide throughout.
 
SEWN UP – Slow to begin and failed to muster early speed.
 
VAMPIRE KISSES – Rider N. Morton reported her mount never travelled comfortably throughout the event and therefore elected to desist in pressuring her mount over the concluding stages.  
 
TINKERTINO – Rider K. Gates reported her mount raced ungenerously throughout the event. Laid out rounding the home turn and took the turn awkwardly.  
 

RACE 5: GRAND HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1400 METRES)

HOKKAIDO – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
ISLAND MAGIC – Near the 150m, the whip of apprentice rider J. Metcalfe was unintentionally knocked from her grasp when the whip of rider W. O’Connell made contact with it.
 
MISHANI REACTOR – Slow to begin.
 
PROPONENT – Rider W. O’Connell pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100m and 16 occasions in totality. Rider W. O’Connell was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
XUANFENG – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
