SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Aquis Beaudesert Saturday 12th August 2023: Stewards today considered an application from Trainer P Kimmet to review the imposition of a monetary penalty issued under LR67(1) in relation to a late rider declaration for the horse DARABAZ in Race 7 at the above meeting. Race 1: GC INDUSTRY AWARDS AUG 31ST MAIDEN PLATE 1900M

I'M A RULER – Held up leaving the 150m until approaching the 100m. Apprentice J. Williams was questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted particularly near the 1300m where he restrained to allow IN CLOSE REWACH to cross to the lead. J. Williams stated that his instructions were either to lead or sit outside the leader, adding that after being pressured by IN CLOSE REACH leaving the 1600m, he elected to restrain at that point. Trainer P. Robl confirmed the instructions issued and expressed disappointment in the actions of apprentice Williams in not maintaining the lead in the early stages. Stewards in considering all the evidence, advised apprentice J. Williams that he had erred in not holding his leading position near 1300m, however in considering his relative inexperience were of the opinion that his actions on this occasion did not reach the requisite standard to issue a charge under the Rules of Racing. A post-race veterinary examination of I’M A RULER did not reveal any abnormalities.

Callow stated the gelding was not suited when forced to race wide without cover in the early stages and that SAXON BRAVE races best when ridden with cover and help up for one run. Stewards noted the explanation.
