GENERAL
 
As apprentice A. Graham was stood down from her riding engagements, replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary.
 
RACE 1: GC BOWLS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1100M

IT'SMEYOUWANT – Raced wide throughout.
 
JUST WALTER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
KICK AND WIN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced for an extended period. Trainer L. Wanless was reprimanded pursuant to AR102(a) for failing to notify that KICK AND WIN had been gelded.
 
SHIPPING LANE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
STARWARD – Began awkwardly.
 
FANCI FLEUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
KABUKICHO – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
PRINCESS SHANGHAI – Began awkwardly and bumped KABUKICHO. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Raced wide round home turn.
 
DRUMSHANBO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider M. Hellyer reported his mount lay out during the middle stages.

RACE 2: PETER ‘PEDRO’ GALLAGHER MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M

I AM VOODOO – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice C. Bellamy advised the gelding travelled well, but when placed under pressure, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Dart explained the instructions were to take a sit behind the lead in an endeavor to ensure the gelding runs the distance of today’s race. He said in hindsight, it would be best to allow the gelding to settle where comfortable to avoid the kickback.
 
SUJEED – Began awkwardly. Failed to muster speed in the early stages.
 
KING KRYPTOS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and leaving the 100m, brushed TARPS.
 
TARPS – Began awkwardly. Brushed leaving the 100m.
 
KELANOA – Slow to begin. Apprentice M. Philpot reported her mount didn’t feel comfortable in its action in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  

RACE 3: PINK RIBBON RACEDAY 20TH SEPT MAIDEN PLATE 1540M

CIRCUS MAXIMUS – Began awkwardly.
 
MUSTANG SNOOKS – Change of tactics; further back with cover. Settled in a midfield position. Began awkwardly.
 
RISKY MISSION – Raced wide throughout.
 
SAVEA – Began awkwardly and was taken in.
 
TOWERS HILL – Began awkwardly. Weakened from the 150m. When asked to comment on the performance, rider B. Ainsworth reported the gelding was not suited to racing on the synthetic surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
WEEKEND ARTIST – Near the 300m, steadied and shifted to the outside of SISTINE CHAPEL to obtain clear running.
 
SISTINE CHAPEL – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
DUOMO – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 300m.
 
I'MA CHARMER – Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 4: EQUISSAGE THERAPY AUSTRALIA BM62 HANDICAP 2000M

SILVER WARRIOR (SAF) – Cast its near fore plate in running.
 
WATERMELON – Apprentice C. Bellamy reported the gelding raced flat.

SLY CORNER (NZ) – After beginning well, settled in a more forward position.
 
KENSHIN MARU – When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding from the 1200m, rider B. Lerena stated he was asked to have KENSHIN MARU in a position for the final sprint home and when the pace of the race eased passing the 1300m, he elected to steady and come to the outside of the field and improve to sit outside the leader in an endeavor to have the gelding in a position to finish off as instructed. He added he did not believe the efforts to obtain a forward position had detracted from the overall performance of the gelding.
 
PRINCETON AWARD – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
SOMAX – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1600m, steadied from the heels of SEERESS (A. Goindasamy), which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider A. Goindasamy was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. From the 1500m until the 1400m, raced tight and bumped with SLIPSTREAMING. Trainer J. Grob reported the gelding may not have run out the 2000m and would now be going for a spell.
 
SLIPSTREAMING (NZ) – From the 1500m until the 1400m, raced tight and bumped with SOMAX. Raced wide for the majority. Rider M. Schrapel was reminded of his obligations under AR132(6)(c) for using the whip when out of contention. Rider Schrapel reported the mare was not suited to the synthetic surface.

RACE 5: THE LUCAS MILLOTT MEMORIAL BM55 HANDICAP 1100M

VELOCE METEOR – Jumped awkwardly with its head up and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BEACHSIDE BABE – Raced three wide without cover from the 900m.
 
MADAME PEARL'S – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the 2nd occasion. Trainer L. Gough was advised the mare would now be banned from racing as per AR79(6).
 
SONIC ARROW – Jumped awkwardly with its head up.
 
SHOTGUN DIVA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RACE 6: OFFICIATING FIRST FOALS BM70 HANDICAP 1540M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when PAULI cast its off-fore plate on route to the barriers and required farrier attention. PAULI subsequently underwent a veterinary examination.
 
ARCHERS REIGN – Bumped on jumping. Rider J. Morris reported the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J. Sweeney advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
 
THE CLAIMANT – Near the 1300m, steadied from the heels of ARCHERS REIGN (J. Morris), which shifted in when not clear. Rider J. Morris was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
TAKUNAI – When questioned regarding settling in a position further back in the field, rider B. Lerena advised his instructions were to be neutral on the gelding leaving the gates and after being caught wide early, he elected to steady and find cover.
 
BETTER YET – Raced wide until the 1000m. When questioned regarding leading the race, rider N. Tomizawa advised he was instructed to go forward from the wide gate. Trainer I. Turner explained he instructed rider N. Tomizawa to take up a midfield position, however; if not able to get cover, he had the option to go forward. He added that there may have been a misunderstanding in the delivery of the instructions.
 
THE WELLIAN – Bumped on jumping.
 
RACE 7: BECOME A GCTC MEMBER 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1540M

CALL OUT – Rider K. Zechner reported the gelding raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer A. Campton advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
 
AUTUNNO – Slow into stride.
 
EASTOWN – Change of tactics; from the inside barrier, expected to be more forward. Reared in the barriers prior to the start. Settled in a midfield position. Rider Y. Lewis was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 14 in totality.
 
NEOCLASSICISM – Cast its near fore plate in running.
 
SEEYA LATER GATER – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
BLACK TYPHOON – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced for an extended period.
 
SHALMUM – Began awkwardly, shifted in and was slow to begin.
 
GLENRAY'S MATE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
